2. Hunspell dictionaries cannot be added in Sierra or High Sierra

   Adding Hunspell dictionaries breaks code-signing, and results in the whole of InDesign's spelling system being sand-boxed by OSX.

   Steps to reproduce:

   1. On High Sierra and InDesign CC, add a Hunspell dictionary, as detailed here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/add_cs_dictionaries.html

   2. Spell-check any InDesign document using the new dictionary and spell-checking then becomes unusable, until InDesign is uninstalled then re-installed.

   The following types of errors are produced in the console, showing that it's a code-signing issue, caused by dictionaries being installed within the Hunspell plugin bundle.

   Can I suggest that there should be another place to install additional languages, outside the InDesign application.

   The only way I can work with Latin and Ancient Greek languages currently is to use an El Capitan Mac, which does not have the sandboxing.

   AMFI: Check-fix enabled for binary '/Applications/Adobe InDesign CC 2018/Resources/Dictionaries/LILO/Linguistics/Providers/Plugins2/AdobeHunspellPlugin.bundl e/Contents/MacOS/AdobeHunspellPlugin' with TeamID 'JQ525L2MZD', identifier 'com.adobe.adobehunspellplugin2': broken signature treated as unsigned without privileges. This workaround will not work for software built on or after 10.12.

3. File rename

   InDesign 13.0 running Mac OX 10.12.6

   If and INDD file is renamed in the Finder when it's open in InDesign, saving the file will cause an error dialog to appear saying "Changes cannot be save as InDesign can no longer access the '[filepath:newfilename]' file. Place the file in the original location and try again." This error message appears whether trying to do a simple save or even Save As.

   This error appears even though both the window header and the file name in the error message both reflect the changed (not the original) file name.

   Unless file is restored to original file name, there is no way to save changes.

   Being able to rename files from the Finder while the files are still open in InDesign is a feature that InDesign has supported for years.

   mein Kunde und ich nutzen seit vielen Jahren den Incopy/Indesign-Austausch. Seit ein paar Tagen habe ich das Problem, dass sich die erste Spaltenbreite der vorhandenen Tabellen ändert, sobald die .icma-Datei in incopy geöffnet wird. Die Spaltenbreiten sind in Indesign fest definiert (erste Spalte 21,8 mm) - nach dem Öffnen in Incopy ist sie nur noch 14,111 mm breit. Manchmal (aber nicht immer) wird die falsche Spaltenbreite auch ins Indesign-Dokument übernommen, sobald die Aufgaben aktualisiert sind. Dadurch zerschießt sich unser komplettes Layout. 5. [BUG] Generative AI Alt Text setting will turn itself on when importing user settings

   Hello, 
    

   This is my 2nd day this week posting a very frustrating bug on InDesign and I consider this one far worse. In trying to figure out a bug with workspaces on Monday, I exported my current settings, reset InDesign preferences, and imported my settings back in. 

    

   I did not check the settings. I should have. The generate AI Alt-text box had been rechecked, and I had NEVER manually done that. I have recreated this issue more than 5+ in a row by:

    

   1. Resetting my InDesign preferences to the default and restarting.
   2. Reopening InDesign, checking off both Generative AI boxes in preferences
   3. Export those settings, reset preferences back to default on reset, and reopen InDesign
   4. When you reopen InDesign and import your preferences (they should be default with both Gen-AI boxes UNCHECKED), the “Auto-generate Alt Text when placing images” WILL BE TURNED ON EVERY TIME WITHOUT FAIL.

    
   I cannot explain how upset I am by this bug. I am nearly insisting this broken and destructive feature be pulled from the app because it has only been a nuisance for most users I have spoken to. If there is n feature that can automatically affect 100+ photos in a document, why is there not a feature to automatically remove any changes? Why on earth to I have to manually fix the AI’s mistake that I didn’t even ask for???

    

   I spent the past 3 days working on files that now have had AI Alt text generated for them without me knowing. I have had those settings off since they first came out. 

    

   I have absolutely no way to know which files have been affected because AFAIK there is no history log.

    

   BONUS TIME!!

    

   I would also love to point out that the Alt-text tag is affected by layers. If your photo bleeds behind an object, the alt text symbol will be hidden. Maybe this is not new, but almost feels like another step to further hide AI alt text generation from users. 

    

    

   This bug has pretty much broken me on this problem and made me furious. Are there even bug testers for these features? I am a designer, not a software engineer, yet this is my second InDesign bug found this week that has seriously impacted my workflow and made me take time out of my work day to address it. I am furious. At this point I feel I deserve compensation lmao.

6. (InDesign)Problem with metadata after conversion v15 to v20

   After converting some old .indd files to v20 from v15 I see that custom metadata is completely wrong. I’d assume that during conversion InDesign finds old metadata packets and set incorrect values
   Here is the cimpress:Id value we have before conversion which is correct(pic1)

   But after conversion to v20(v19 works correct) I got something like this(pic2):
   To convert the file you need to simply open BEFORE_CONVERSION.indd in v20 Indesign

   Expected result is cimpress:Id have same value as pic1.png
   Actual result is pic2.png
   Is it possible to fix conversion process somehow, because it breaks a lot of flows and makes migration to the new InDesign versions impossible?

   Summary
   InDesign's GREP engine does not handle the OR operator (|) correctly when used with anchors (^ and $). This behavior differs significantly from standard regex engines and produces unexpected, inconsistent results.

   Problem Description
   When using the OR operator with anchors in InDesign GREP, the anchors are interpreted with incorrect precedence, causing the pattern to behave differently than expected. This issue has been confirmed as a bug by Peter Kahrel, author of "GREP in InDesign."

   Test Cases and Results

   Test Case 1: ^ab|c
   Text: ab ac bc Expected (standard regex): Matches "ab" at line start AND "c" anywhere Actual InDesign result: Only matches "ab" at line start Issue: InDesign interprets as ^(ab|c) instead of (^ab)|c

8. InCopy: Notes in text shifting randomly when exported as PDF.

   InCopy version 18 and 19.

   To recreate the issue : add a note to any point of a text paragraph in InCopy and export the document as PDF. This results in the note (yellow sticky note) shifting randomly within the PDF document.

   What should happen is that the yellow sticky note should be in the area of where the note was initially anchored in InCopy, after you export it as PDF.

9. All of the sudden font doesn't appear

   v17.2 InDesign
   MAC OS Big Sur 11.6.5
   Opening documents to make changes and fonts are missing. They are activated in Suitcase 22.0.4 and appear in Illustrator when I open a document.
   Have redone preferences, caches in both InDesign and Suitcase. Tried placing the fonts in the InDesign fonts folder and the Adobe fonts folder.
   Have restarted several times.
   Uninstalled InDesign and reinstalled.
   Not sure what to do! Please help!!

10. »Create outlines« of text on a circle path is making weird things

    v 17.0.1
    Intel Mac
    Big Sur

    If you have a longer text written on a circle path and try to »Create Outlines« it fails at one area: The text gets smaller and is kind of turned around.

    This only happens with longer text: Short text seems to work ok.

    InDesign fails to open or place files with long paths in Windows. The "Long Paths Enabled" registry setting is enabled (i.e. it is set to 1). The problem affects several functions:

    1. From Bridge, Place > In Indesign causes "Script Alert: Error: Expected a reference to an existing File/Folder"

    2. DataMerge in InDesign: images with long paths are skipped, i.e. aren't merged. There is no error message.

    3. From InDesign. I cannot manually place a file with a long path through the “Place” dialog box. The dialog box will display the folder and thumbnails, but when I click the image to place it, I get the following error: “The file could not be opened. You may not have permission or the file may be in use by another application.”

    All of these symptoms suggests that InDesign does not support Long Paths in Windows.

    InDesign 2021 16.2.1 x64

14. Self-closes or crashes when computer sleeps

    InDesign 15.1.1
    Windows 10
    After putting computer to "Sleep", InDesign is closed upon wakening the computer. Sometimes says "crashed" (10% of the time). Other Adobe applications are still open where left off.

16. workspace problems in Indd 2020

    I am working on two major projects and have created my custom workspace that gives me the panels needed for these projects. After saving the changes made for the day and closing InDesign, upon opening Indd for the next session, the work space has been set to Essentials, even though the files that require my s=custom workspace are open. I go to the workspace menu and change the work space to my working workspace and it does change, but the menu still says Essentials.

17. Fonts say they are activating but never activate

    Indesign 14.0.1 : When you click to activate a font it changes icon to "activating" but it never actually activates. this is happening across all 60 plus computers at my organistaion.

18. Adobe Fonts wont load

    While creating a document I was trying to discover a new font. I clicked Fonts > Find More and where a list of adobe fonts usually pops up, I got nothing. I tried creating a new text box, signing in and out of adobe, and closing / opening the document.

    Attached please find a screen grab of the issue.

    I'd love an assist if possible.

19. Links panel

    When you highlight a link in the document, it used to highlight the corresponding image in the links panel, so you could easily edit or replace, instead of having to scroll through the links panel trying to identify the asset from the thumbnail. A minor workflow thing but it makes a difference. Would love to have this feature back in.

20. Text wraps when replacing a swatch

    If I replace a swatch the text wraps at one place. It happens just with one color in the document... I doesn't matter which swatch I use for replacing... I never seen this before. I image how risky that is when you're replacing a swatch in a large project like a catalog and than somewhere in the document text is wraping...
