  1. InDesign CC 2018 ME text frame problem

    InDesign CC ME 2018

I work with international magazine. Usually I work with English text but once i a while I have to do some Arabic content. I installed Indesign CC 2018 ME on my machine and it works perfectly well except. When I create a new document in InDesign CC ME which is normal meaning reads from left to right and try to place a doc document into it text frame appears to be right to left and this issue is totally inconvenient.

  2. Tables with overset text make Indesign crash

    Mac sonoma 14.4, Indesign 19.3

Tables with overset text make Indesign crash. When copying such a table, and then paste it on another page or in another doc, Indesign will crash.

  4. Overprint white text when color changed in stylesheet

When changing color to 'Paper' on a selected text – it automatically is set to not overprint (correct behaviour).
However if you change the color in a stylesheet, from a color with overprint, to 'Paper'. It will remain on overprint.
Also the checkbox gets greyed out. So to fix it you must choose another color, uncheck overprint, then go back to 'Paper'.

  5. Dragging the mouse to select text randomly moves the entire sheet

When dragging the mouse to select text in a text box it would sometimes move the entire page and pasteboard to the left or right when reaching the text box frame. This is a very old, extremely annoying behavior. It exists at least since CS4.
The biggest question: why does it move at all?

  6. Interaction between Text Wrap, Optical Margin Alignment and Numbered List

When a text frame with activated Optical Margin Alignment containing numbered list wraps around another text frame the numbering is incorrectly aligned. The affected numbers noticeably stick outside of the text frame and thus create unpleasant left margin. Only numbering on wrapped lines is affected, numbering below the wrap behaves as expected.

Similarly, if the text frame is modified so as its border lays entirely outside of the area affected by wrapping offset, the optical alignment of the numbering behaves as expected. This at least provides some workaround.

I am attaching a screenshot of the behaviour as well as a…

  7. Using Text Wrap around objects causes InDesign to crash!

When I apply a text wrap but only around an object, the program crashes and closes. The other text wrapping tools work fine.

I noticed a blue cercle on the icon of text wrap around an object (see the screenshot joined). I'm not sure this is normal... maybe it would help you solve the problem...

When I click on this tool, a windows opens (see second screenshot) and then Indesign crashes and closes.

You can note that I am using the latest version of Indesign (16.4).

Thank you very much for your help.

  9. erratic and missing cursor in text frames

My setup: Windows 10 Pro, InDesign CC 14.0.2 x64, Ben-Q monitor.
My cursor behaves properly when I use the Select tool, but when I use the Type tool, the cursor becomes very tiny outside of a text frame. If I click within a text frame, a vertical cursor blinks. However, to maneuver within the text frame, I need to use the cursor keys on my keyboard! I've tried changing the cursor settings for my system and restarting my computer to no avail. Please do not tell me to "trash" my preferences. I've spent a lot of time setting up a…

  10. Control bar disappears from view when switching applications in cc 2018

When I switch from an application back to InDesign cc 2018 the control bar/panel will sometimes disappear. The only way I can get it back is to change workspace to "Essentials" and then return it to my custom workspace. This did not happen with InDesign cc 2017.

    My specs are as follows:
    OS 10.11.6 (15G1510)
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
    4 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
    AMD Radeon R9 M390 2048 MB

  13. Indesign CC 2019 Bugs(Preserve Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables)

I usually use the inDesign to import the created word file.
However, if I check the Preserve Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables in indesign cc 2019 and import the file, the formatting of the text will be deleted.
This does not happen with Indesign cc 2018, but this will continue to happen in this 2019 upgrade.
I ask you to correct this problem.

  14. When importing tables through tagged text, formatting inexplicably and erratically lost; extra hard returns inserted

    1. Adobe InDesign 20.5
    2. Flow the attached .txt files (tagged text) into an InDesign file. you'll need paragraph styles "TABC", "TABH1", "TABTX", and "TAB" (the paragraph for the table). You'll also need table style "TAB" and a cell style "tabtx".
    3. The last cell in table 19.2 should be empty—no hard return. The the text in row 2, column 3 of table 19.4, "katab" should be italic.
    4. There's a hard return in the last cell of table 19.2; any text in cell R2C3 in table 19.4 is not ital (but note that the text in table 19.2…

  15. text box resizing causes document to shift in window

I have an issue now that has never come up before I updated to 20.5.1. When I try to resize a text box or image box, the document shifts down and the content box is shifted up. The video shows it better. I then discovered that if I create a new text box, delete it, then create another new text box and delete that one, the issue goes away. I closed and re-opened the document, and the issue was still gone. Have not had it happen enough to know if it will recur at a later time.

  16. Text Variables using Running Headers don't show up in Table Header Rows when table is threaded across multiple pages

I have a table running across multiple pages. In the Header row I want to have a Text Variable using Running Header to pull the text using a particular paragraph style. The text variable doesn't show up. If I unthread the table so it's just a single frame, it appears.

My workaround is to unthread to one frame, convert the text variable to text, then rethread. It works if I do this at the end, but defeats the purpose of using them if customer wants last minute edits.

  18. InDesign freezing when pressing backspace in a text box of more than 500 or 600 words

This only seems to be a problem when using long text boxes more than a few hundred words. InDesign starts to slow down while I'm typing, but if I then select text or press backspace (mostly the latter) then InDesign freezes for 10 to 15 seconds.

I've searched the problem, but the only solution I have found is to try closing the info panel, but this seems to be a CS3 fix and doesn't work.

  19. Allow InDesign to retain local formatting when updating linked text files.

When using linked text files in InDesign, any local formatting changes made directly in InDesign (such as font size, color, bold/italic, etc.) are lost when the external text file is updated. This is a significant limitation for designers who need to maintain complex formatting in layouts. Please add an option to retain local formatting when linked text files are updated.

    Suggestion:
“Preserve Local Formatting” in the Links panel or File Handling preferences.

  20. Alternate text added to graphic missing in exported PDF when using Articles panel.

1.) Apply alternate text to graphic using Object > Object Export Options.

    2.) Anchor graphic into frame

3.) Add containing text frame to Articles panel.

4.) Export to PDF including tags

The result is that the exported PDF file doesn't have the alternate text applied
