1. Multi-state objects and animated elements not working on State 1

   InDesign CC 2019 14.0:

   I have a 4 state multi-state object. Each state has a full-screen image with a text title and description which animates in (Fly-in from top) for each state upon load. Left/Right buttons control the interactivity.

   However, when I add an animation to the text title/description in State-1 it causes the full-screen image to not load and the test/description text doesn't appear either. (Tested in Indesign in the EPUB Interactivity Preview panel and on iPad/iBooks)

   When testing it in the EPUB Interactivity Preview panel and I go to State-2 using the buttons and then return to State-1 the image loads and the text animates as planned.

   Why won't the animation show when State-1 first loads? I wanted to attach the InDesign test file to show the issue but it won't allow.

2. Anomalous character missing glyph in the Story editor – Serious file problems

   I report a bug regarding an InDesign document of an anomalous character that is found in the "Story editor", which has already been reported in older versions of Adobe Indesign.
   (OS version: BigSur 11.3.1)
   (Adobe InDesign version: 16.2)

   As you can see in the examples that I attach, the text presents problems and I believe it is caused (or highlighted) by the missing glyph signs in each line of the "story editor", which does not appear to exist in the text.

   The problem is not solved by making the file idml.
   I tried to fix it by copying the text and placing it in a new InDesign file, the result didn't change.
   Then I tried to paste the text into "Microsoft Word" and after copying it again I brought it to a new InDesign file and, in that case, the problem disappears (unfortunately, however, I cannot do it with the entire text of the book because it is too complex and I'd basically have to start the job all over again). So I think the bug is only referable to certain files.

   I also tried to create a new document by importing all the pages from the old one, but even this operation did not solve the problem.
   In addition to this anomaly, I also noticed that clicking in some places of the text (to insert text or delete it manually) the cursor is positioned more and more to the left of where I click (for example, if I click after the last letter of the word after which I want to insert a text, the cursor is positioned between the penultimate and the last letter of that word, it is very annoying on a long job).

   The same thing happened to my colleague in the department: another document caused many more problems than mine, especially on a certain page, whatever action he performed, the file often slowed down until the program was closed, it was very difficult for him to complete a job that was now in its final phase.

   Cursor Direction when typing Arabic or other RTL languages. in Middle Eastern version ONLY.

   1. All Middle Eastern versions (English يدعم العربية)

   2. Type Arabic text. Place the cursor within text. Hold "Shift" key and click on right arrow key on the keyboard to select/highlight text. Cursor moves left and select next character on the left while clicking on right arrow.

4. [ID-4213978]unable to change font, size, style in Script UI, alignment problem with Image on button

   Unable to perform basic features such as changing of text Font, Styles, Sizes in CC's scriptUI.
   Alslo image in button way OFF alignment.

   This result in uglier customized UIs than it's older versions.
   As the world population is getting older, the ability to have bigger font size and style is really needed.

5. Simple cursor insertion point inaccurate in text

6. OpenType All Small Caps disappear when switching dictionary to German

   I have a text that uses the OpenType feature “All Small Caps” in a lot of places. It is currently set to use the English USA dictionary. I am working on translating this text into German, and so I want to use the German dictionary for it. When I try this, all instances of All Small Caps turn to regular lower-case letters. I tried a couple of different dictionaries, some (e.g. other English and Dutch) will retain the SC and others (e.g. None) will make them disappear.

7. 2024 lag

   InDesign 2024 is lagging a lot—there's a delay in response when clicking onto a text or content box to edit the content. Even moving from page to page (at typical or fast display) there's a lag.

9. Unable to drag & drop images within text frame through custom plugin on Indesign CC2020

   We have a custom plugin, we are using this plugin since Indesign CS4. We have an option to drag & drop images from this plugin pallet into Indesign Layout. With the latest CC2020 SDK, we have upgraded our plugin from CC18 to CC2020 & it works fine on all other functionality except "Drag & drop" within text frame.

   We didn't made any update to the code, the same option works fine till CC2019. Is there any known issue with CC2020 sdk for drag & drop?

   Note: Drag & drop allows us to place the image at left top corner of the image frame, also the mouse pointer get transforms into "T" instead of "+" symbol, when we drag over text frame.

   We have a custom plugin, we are using this plugin since Indesign CS4. We have an option to drag & drop images from this plugin pallet into Indesign Layout. 10. PLEASE do not close this yet: Hyperlink alt text is ignored in the latest version of Indesign

    While Ravi Kiran and Dax Castro consider this closed, my US government contact does not. I need all the hard work I put into placing this hyperlink alt text into InDesign to come across into the OBVIOUS place in the PDF. Why is that such a hard ask? It seems like it could be in both places. Buried where my client cannot find it and where they can see it easily. Please reconsider. Thank you.

12. Programs hangs after having selected a text and then opening the font drop down list.

    After having selected some text and then opening the drop down font menu, the program starts doing an infinte number of calculations and never stops (the CPU core being used is maxed and remains like that).

    FFS hire someone who can fix it.. its been ages.

13. Pages of my 300-page file disappear

    Hello,

    I recently took over the creation of my company's general catalog (300 pages), which I had previously entrusted to another graphic designer, who transferred the file to me. Since I've taken over the design of the catalog, I've run into a lot of different problems:

    Sometimes, entire pages disappear. Sometimes, text and images are preserved and visible when I'm in “W”, but the background of the blank page is no longer visible. As a result, when I'm no longer in “W”, the page disappears completely.

    Also, sometimes images disappear, for no reason at all, or strange shapes appear next to my document.

    I've tried :
    - Copy and paste the disappearing pages into a new Indesign, that works.
    - I've gone looking for pages from our old catalog that I've put in the file that bugs, and these same pages end up having the same problem. (elements disappear...)
    - I've saved the file in an IDML and it works, only when I export it as a PDF, the initial problem persists.
    - I'm in the process of separating each chapter of our scale into separate Indesigns, let's see if it works

    Do you have any idea why these pages are disappearing?

    Phenomenon
    Fill and line disappears when copying an object.

    Reproduction procedure
    1. Select an object with fill and line to surround it with the direct selection tool.
    2. Grab the anchor point and copy by option+drag.
    3. The object without fill or line is copied.

    The same result can be obtained by selecting an object to enclose with the direct selection tool, and then copying with the Object menu > Transform > Move.
    If you select an object by clicking directly on the fill area without surrounding it with the direct selection tool, the fill and lines are copied as they were (expected result).

    I would like the original object to be copied as is, just like in Illustrator.

    The circle that appears around the cursor is due to a utility and is displayed when clicking.
    The fact that nothing is displayed in the middle of a drag copy is probably a problem with the screen recording function.

    4. In fact it is EXTREMELY difficult to get the palette to recognize that text is selected in the palette interface. The "Copy" popup does not appear a large proportion of the time, or you can't select the range of characters you need. Even though Acrobat is terrible at the same process, it is significantly faster to copy the needed range of characters from the comment in Acrobat and switch back to ID to paste.

17. Highlight/Colorize menu commands : changes retained temporarily , then disappear

    Using the Edit > Menu Command to highlight/colorize frequently used commands. After spending a good deal of time setting this up, the menus only remain highlighted for a few minutes before the all highlighting disappears. Have repeated this exercise a few times, trashed preferences, always the same result.

19. InDesign 2019 Fails to open properly and freezes.

    Today it is not opening properly, taking around 10 minutes to open a file, then freezes the second I try to do anything in a text box.

    It has occurred with every file I've tried, multiple times.
    I have also tried ending all InDesign processes and restarting my computer.

    Not sure if anyone else has come across this issue?

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your patience all this while.
    This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.

    Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
    Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.

20. Active adobe fonts are unstable.

    16.0 x64 - I have been experiencing issues with Adobe fonts, where I can't edit them. For example, resizing to a larger font value or even adding more text. The font (or the entire text box) will completely disappear or it will switch to a default font even though the correct font is chosen. The only way to correct it is to close the document and restart. But it doesn't mean the font will be stable. I don't seem to have this issue with locally installed fonts.
