1. Page tool causes layout shifts on parent pages

   When the Page Tool is used to resize parent (master) pages, unwanted shifts of page items may occur. These can occur directly in the document or also after an IDML export. Whereby with the IDML export the order of the sample pages plays a role

   Concrete example: When the right bottom corner of the Page Tool is selected and the page size is changed, a position mismatch occurs on the inherited master page.

   It is expected that on master pages of the same size the position of objects and inherited object is the same.

   This does not occur if the upper left corner of the Page tool is used when resizing.

   You can see this also in the different matixes of the inner coordinate system of the master pages.

2. InDesign incorrect font.version when SUBSTITUED

   In an InDesign document when a font.status is SUBSTITUED, both the xmpTPg:Fonts/Resource/stFnt:versionString and also font.version property show the value of the font which is used by InDesign for the substitute font, and not the original (now missing) font version.

   As anyone who has worked with font purchasing knows, the font version is extremely important. Both because of licensing reasons (previously purchased font licenses for font versions may need to be repurchased with newer versions), and also because even in a font produced by the same foundry or designer, a minor version change can include optical differences, spacing differences causing text reflow, overset text and glyph errors.

   Here's an example

   1) Open the attached document into Adobe InDesign
   2) In the top dropdown menu, go to Type > Find/Replace Fonts
   3) In the Find/Replace Fonts listing there is only one font and it is missing/substituted, SharpGroteskBook22
   4) In the Find/Replace Fonts listing for the font in the “More Info” area the version is correctly shown as “Version 1.003”
   5) However, when showing the properties of this font in Visual Studio Code Adobe Extendscript debugger the font.version for this font is incorrectly shown as: "version: 17.0d1e1" (see screenshot)
   6) Also when viewing the metadata for the document in the File > File Info > Raw fonts xmpTPg:Fonts object, the versionString is incorrectly shown as “SharpGroteskBook2217.0d1e1” (see screenshot)

   I am considering this behavior to be a bug.

   In my opinion there is no value which is gained from InDesign having the font.version of a totally different font which is only being used to substitute a font which is not found.

   Why does the font.version property not continue to return the value of the font when it was INSTALLED?

   The data is not entirely missing. There is a location in InDesign which contains the accurate font version for a font which is font.status = SUBSTITUTED, and that is in the InDesign UI Fonts > Find/Replace Fonts menu, More Info area. I need a way to be able to retrieve that accurate data via scripting.

   InDesign and InDesign Server versions 2023, 2022, 2020 etc.

3. interactive pdf export hangs forever

   ID 2023 won't finish the export to Interactive PDF task and hangs for minutes on the "finishing document" stage. It must then be force quit to continue. Cancelling the export doesn't work. Screenshot attached.

   ID 18.5.1.79, M1 Max MacStudio, MacOSX 14.2.1

4. optical margin alignment

   InDesign 19.0 (2024): Optical margin alignment does not work (well), contrary to the previous versions. The problem doesn not depend on a certain font, it is a general problem.

5. Share for Review is very buggy

   In InDesign lately when I Share for Review the following things happen often:
   1. InDesign thinks that the document I've shared (and for which I've received feedback) is NOT shared. I know it is.
   2. I can no longer highlight a comment and copy it to paste it into the actual document.
   3. When I click on a comment it will take me to a page/spread but there's no pin/highlighted text/etc. to inform me where on the spread the change needs to be implemented.
   4. I get a message that InDesign "cannot load comments" no matter how many times or different points in the day I click on "Retry."

   In InDesign lately when I Share for Review the following things happen often:

6. connected frames

   Create text frame with paragraph attributes, the text changing alignment depending on the text box attributes

   Ideal for making annual calendars with connected frames from the left pages to the right and the text alignment changes depending on the style applied to the text frame, for example: (Left Page, text aligned to the left), (Page Right, text aligned to the right, if left page text change to right page the alignmento change.

7. Error message "Save File Operation Failed" seen for PNG/JPEG export in Adobe InDesign 2024

   InDesign 2024 (v19.0)

   In v18.5 any design can be Exported as a JPEG or PNG.

   When I Export a design to JPEG or PNG in v19.0 then I get the "Save File Operation Failed" message and the program freezes - see attached screen shot

8. Publish Online search text

   When I publish a document online from Indesign by activating text search, the related drop-down menu that contains this command at the bottom right of the web page, does not open correctly on iPads, both using Safari and Chrome, while on Android tablets everything works correctly. 9. RtoL languages/Phone number bug

   I have a document that mixes mulitple languages and includes phone numbers in these paragraphs.
   The RtoL languages (Arabic, Farsi, Urdu for example) is flipping the phone numbers the wrong direction in the text.

11. Share for Review has ISSUES

    I have been using the Share for Review feature for almost two years now for my employer to review documents that I am creating for them. I use it almost daily and never had any issues until the updates that came a month or two ago.

    Since the Share for Review feature was updated I can...

    1. No longer copy text from the comments that are made to paste into my document. This is troublesome because I am generally laying out curriculum that has been written and there is constant text edits being made during our review process, so I was copying 75% of my comments and can no longer do that. Me having to type out their changes generally results in further problems and changes that need to be made.

    2. The comments they are making if they are highlighting specific words to remove/edit are not displaying correctly INSIDE InDesign. If I view the comments through the web, they will display correctly.
       I.E. I was just editing a paragraph where they were adding paragraph breaks. In InDesign, it highlighted half of a word in the middle of a sentence and the comment said "add paragraph break here". I knew that couldn't be right, so I viewed it on the web and the real comment was on a completely different sentence. When comments are not highlighting the right words or displaying correctly in InDesign, everyone is getting confused and it is further complicating our review and editing process.

    3. When I go to update my link after making requested edits on my file, it takes FOREVER. It used to update in seconds, and now I will get a spinning wheel for 10+ minutes. This is super annoying and delays all of my process for absolutely no reason.

    PLEASE FIX THESE ISSUES. It's so frustrating when it's something I use every day and it used to work completely fine until it was "updated".

13. Broken/missing assignments can't be deleted or fixed

    I've opened an InDesign document from earlier this year (created in an InDesign 2023 version). The document contains many incopy assignments - some of which are now missing. It will let me delete most of the missing assignments (no longer needed anyway) but a selection of them will not delete at all, and show the pencil icon that says 'in use by me' when i hover over, despite having literally just opened the file and not clicked into anything.

    This happens when any of my team open the file (we use Microsoft Share Point to access files). I can't right click and 'Go to Content', or 'Unlink Content' because nothing happens, I can't use the trash can icon because again, nothing happens. When I right click and choose 'Add to Assignment' and create a new assignment (or add to existing assignment), i get an error message saying 'The story format is not compatible with this assignment.'

    I am not sure how to fix this, if it is a bug? I just want to delete all the broken assignments because they are no longer needed. We are now using InDesign v19.0.

14. resize

    Just updated to Indesign 2024 (v19), and it appears the method of resizing/scaling an image or shape has changed. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out what it has changed to. Before this update, cmd-shift/drag the corner would resize an item proportionately. That doesn't work anymore. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

    Updating in InDesign does not work with add-in software. This is very inconvenient as the system is updated once a year. The high cost of add-in software makes it difficult to purchase add-in software frequently. When updating InDesign, please take care to ensure that the old add-in software can be used. I am having a very difficult time. I demand improvement.

16. QR code: URL gives the code http:// not the https://. Iphones cant handle it, url becomes a google search

    The function URL value should be httpS not http.
    Srsly, when iphone scan http, they make it a google search!

18. Version 19.0 does not remember the document path for Save or Exporting to PDF

    Since upgrading to v19, it does not default to the path of the original opened document when saving, and Export to a PDF file does not default to the directory of the InDesign document.
    The default is you Documents folder.
    This is not the first time an upgrade has caused this behavior.
    PLEASE fix this !

    When we update from InDesign 18.5 to InDesign 19.0, the conversion of documents happen. The document is opened and the user needs to save it. We have to save the document and the same folder from where 18.5 document is opened will be seen. For export workflow without saving the document, export will point to Documents folder.

19. integrate adobe express templates in software.

    Adobe Express is an amazing online platform with tons of inspiration and templates. Being able to use existing templates as a prompt designer in inDesign (and other Adobe Software) would be a game changer to speed up production time during slumps.

20. Optical margin

    Optical margin behaves oddly in InDesign 19.0. I've attached a screen recording showing this behavior:

    This is a file that had been created in a previous version of ID—probably 13 or so—and has handled migration to subsequent versions gracefully. However, when I opened it in 19 and attempted to edit some text, the optical margin in that paragraph behaves strangely, turning itself off on certain lines.

    Deactivating and reactivating optical margin does not correct it. Some adjustment is made, but not enough.

    I haven't been able to reproduce this behavior in text blocks created in 19, so it appears to be an issue with files created in previous versions of ID.
