Spinning Beach Ball appears every time I try to highlight text
- InDesign 18.0
- Seems just clicking with the Text Tool gets a spinning ball. Even worse if I try to highlight after clicking. 30-60 second wait. 3, Expect to highlight text as in the past.
- Once the ball stops spinning, maybe one character has been highlighted.
Troubleshooting steps:
Tried resetting preferences. No change.
Checked for corrupted fonts and removed. No change. (I'm using fonts from TypeKit, which don't appear to be installed in FontBook.)
Uninstalled InDesign. Shut down computer. Reinstalled InDesign.
Checked for corrupted file. (Saved copy. No change. Saved to imdl. No change.)
Tried opening file on different computer. Same issue on that computer.
Tried switching from GPU to CPU. No change.
Additional information. Primary computer is running MacOS 10.15.7 with 64 GB of RAM and Radeon RX 580 8 GB.

Hi Denise - just a suggestion - try viewing and working on your document in the Preview mode (with no items selected, no text entry cursor, pressing W on keyboard). Your pasteboard should be masked to grey when in this mode.
For my instal, the performance lag issues are reduced when I do that, including text entry. Scrolling speeds improve also.

Project totally stalled due to this issue. Won't make deadline unless this is resolved.
