Crash on Importing Large Word File
InDesign v17.4
macOS 12.6 Monterey
Mac Studio (2022)InDesign is crashing on importing a large (859-page) Word .docx file. The document begins to import for a couple of seconds but then InDesign crashes and there is a 'may be damaged' warning on reopening the file.
Attempts were made to import into a completely new document and multiple variations of import settings have been tried, as has resaving, duplicating and deleting comments and saving the Word file. Smart Text Reflow has also been turned off but this hasn't helped.

Any solutions for this issue?

Persistent graphics issues
There are STILL graphics problems in Indesign 17.2. Things disappearing off the screen that don't reappear unless you try and move them (zooming in and out doesn't work), streaks appearing across the screen.
I am so bored of the constant bugs in this app.

optical margin alignment
Optical Margin Alignment does not work in a tabbed hanging indent, but it should. In the examples provided I want the copy quotes to be offset by the optical margin alignment, but they are counted as a character and disrupt the look of the hanging indent (example 01). If I move the hanging indent to the right side of the quotes it fixes the problem for the current paragraph, but the next paragraph aligns with the tab and quote, not with the above hanging paragraph (example 02).

InDesign '23 interface is not dual-monitor friendly! I am running macOS Monterey 12.4 on a MacBook M1 Pro.
Please update Adobe InDesign to be a more self-contained, movable workspace instead of anchoring the app to a single monitor (namely, my small laptop monitor). I am able to move tool windows and a file window over to my larger screen, but everything opens back on my laptop screen and I have to adjust all over again, unlike with Illustrator or Photoshop. It also maintains a dark gray 'background' over my laptop screen so it's VERY difficult to multitask. I noticed that this became an issue with a recent update PRIOR to the release of InDesign 2023. I am running…

Object Styles within Object Style Groups cannot be set to Document.pageItemDefaults (Scripting)
See this thread in community forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/script-cannot-set-an-object-style-as-a-default-frame-style-if-this-style-is-inside-a-folder/td-p/13062809
If an object style is within a group, it cannot be assigned as the appliedTextObjectStyle in Document.pageItemDefaults. Have not checked whether the same is true for appliedGraphicObjectStyle

No multicore, no gpu support this is RIDICULOUS
Okay hear me out, I know for a fact this has been brought up I know.
However in 2022 a multinational company doesn't support multicore and gpu performance for windows this is just insane, it's the biggest F U to the community.
How I'm supposed to work on anything if my performance is garbage with VERY FEW OBJECTS, now you might say ah yes just press typical performance or fast perfomance if your pc is struggling. I have a proper pc (i9 9900k, 32gb ram, rtx 2080) really if this gear STRUGGLES with TEXT editing I'm speachless, for the sake…5 votes -
InDesign 16.0 saves Converted files in last used folder, not containing folder
On Catalina OSX (10.15.7), InDesign 2021 (16.0) saves a Converted file to the last used Finder folder, rather than the folder the document is contained in.
Happens with 'Save As...', as well as saving InCopy assignments.

Please update to this version to get the fix.

Pages navigation jumping two pages at a time
I've got a strange bug on a 100 single pages document. Sometimes (twice this week) when I'm using the shortcut Fn-option-up/down arrow to jump to the next page, inDesign will jump 2 pages at a time.
It will behave like this until I double click on a page in the pages panel.
Weird and annoying, but not sure I can reproduce.

Grey outlines around pictures in Publish Online
About 1/7 of every picture has grey lines partially surrounding it, but only when I publish online. Not when I export as PDF. There's plenty of image available beyond the edges of the image box, so I don't know why it does this.

table of contents not displaying items in tables with headers/footers
The Layout/TOC feature does not include items in tables (that have headers/footers). If a table has a header/footer, the TOC just skips over the item, and goes onto the next one. When creating the TOC, it asks me if I would like to "include items in overset text?". There is never any overset text in the document, so when I click NO, the TOC skips over the table items. If I click YES, the items in the table get repeated over and over again in the TOC.

Can't grab window
When working on an InDesign file, when I need to grab the InDesign window (by clicking and dragging) and move it, I usually have to make three attempts before my mouse "catches" the window. InDesign 17.2, Mac Studio OS 12.3.1. It's very random when it works and not works, but mostly it doesn't work on the first attempt.

Font display issue with certain fonts in images from clipboard (18.1 x64)
We use a charting service called Macrobond, and copy images from that software to insert in InDesign. The following buggy behavior is observed:
When using certain fonts in the chart, the pasted image in InDesign displays those fonts in miniscule sizes. That does not happen with other fonts fonts.
I suspect the issue stems from different ways in which InDesign handles the various fonts based on whether they are included or third-party (or perhaps depending if they are installed locally on the PC or is fetched from the Adobe library).
In this example the first image shows a problematic chart…
