1. ScirptUI: in events `app.activate();` doesn’t work on Mac

   Steps to reproduce the issues
   * Build a ScriptUI palette with a button (or any other element).
   * Give the button a .onClick event with a app.activate; to give the programm’s focus back to InDesign.
   * Try to perform an InDesign shortcut (such as "command f" to show the built-in find dialog or any other you prefer).

   Expected result
   The focus of the programm should be given back to InDesign and the called action in InDesign should be performed (such as showing the find dialog).

   Actual result
   The focus remains on the ScriptUI palette and nothing happens.

2. Acrobat freezes/crashes when exporting as PDF from InDesign

   When we export PDFs with "View PDF after Exporting" checked, Acrobat sometimes freezes up and we need to force-quit it. InDesign also freezes. During the crashing process, the PDF is created normally. Our workaround is to uncheck that box, but that's not ideal because we've always had it on for 10+ years and are used to automatically reviewing the PDFs before sending them to clients, etc. We are saving to a NAS Drobo using AFP. Can this be fixed?

3. 'Delete Empty Pages' in InDesign preferences does not recognize content on parent page

   When 'Delete Empty Pages' in InDesign is checked within preferences (found in the 'Type' tab) it does not recognize content on a parent page. Personally, I think if there is type on a parent and it is applied to a page(s), the page(s) should not be considered empty and automatically deleted.

4. Margins outside page bounds

   In the new New Document setup dialog it is possible to set margins larger than the page dimensions which results in Margins outside the page area. This does not happen with the legacy dialog.

5. Workspace not being saved

   In 17.4, the workspace is not being saved. You have to go to Windows and pick a workspace in order to do anything. What comes up is nothing, no menu bars at all.

6. Disappearing caption text

   When adding text to an existing caption in Adobe InDesign 2023, the entire caption disappears. To solve, I can widen the caption box, which our client's formatting specs do not allow, or adjust the text frame options to ignore text wrap, which distorts the horizontal scale of the text. How can I add text to captions without having to change my caption text box's layout?

7. Adobe PDR printer settings option missing

   Hello dear Adobe team,
   my problem is as following: When printing Booklet in my custom settings I am missing Adobe PDF printer option. I cant even install Adobe printer from control panel as suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/add-pdf-printer-manually.html because there is no Adobe PDF option in "Use existing port" option. Could you please help me with this? I am also adding a few screenshots of the problem.

8. High CPU usage

   High CPU usage on Win 10 (Asus NB) since version 17. Still remains (after many updates, 17.3 included). Not usable software.

   So I'm using version 16, and there is no problem with CPU.

9. Deactivate start page setting is missing

   Under gobal settings there are 2 checkboxes missing:
   - show startpage if no document...
   - use old open dialog

   Deinstallation and new InDesign installation brought nothing.
   What could be the reason?

11. Bloc de texte

    Ma version de InDesign : 18.0 x64

    Ce n'est pas une idée mais je rencontre un bogue. La question est : comment régler ce bogue ?
    Voici la situation :
    1) je crée un bloc de texte. Je peux taper un texte à l'intérieur.
    2) J'appuie sur la touche ESC pour sélectionner le bloc
    3) Le bloc crée alors automatiquement un retrait du texte à l'intérieur. Ce retrait, je l'avais créé auparavant mais il semble qu'il se soit bloqué et que maintenant, tout nouveau bloc de texte se crée avec ce retrait de texte.
    4) J'ouvre Objet/Option de bloc de texte / Général. Je constate effectivement que les "marges à l'intérieur du bloc" sont fixées à 2. Je les remets à zéro.
    5) Je vérifie que le "dimensionnement automatique" est désactivé.
    6) Mon bloc est maintenant OK. Mais, quoi que je fasse, tout nouveau bloc créé se présentera de nouveau avec des marges à l'intérieur du bloc réglées à 2 au lieu de zéro. J'ai fermé InDesign pour le ré-ouvrir : cela ne change rien !

12. Preview 'glitching' when changing fonts in text blocks

    Had this problem in 17.2 but still occurring even now I've upgraded to 17.3.
    Working on a Mac Mini macOS Monterey 12.5.1

    If I make any changes within a text block (weight, style or actual font) the selected text will 'glitch' and does not refresh properly when I'm choosing a font or different weight of the same font, causing issues with visibility and layout. It only corrects itself when I click off the text block, either onto the dashboard or another section of the design. This isn't ideal when I'm making design decisions as it impairs layout and aesthetics.

    This did not occur when I was working in 2021. Only since using 2022.

    1. Text block with placeholder text (normal)
    2. A font change (text selection glitching when font has been changed).
    3. A font weight change (text selection glitching when font weight has been selected)

    When exporting a Thai document to PDF, footnote numbering goes wrong after the ninth footnote.

    InDesign 17.4 (on Apple M1)

    To reproduce,

    1. Create nine footnotes however.
    2. Create a new paragraph wholly in Thai (which you can do by copying something over from the Thai Wikipedia, or just the following text: ย่อหน้า.)
    3. Place a cursor behind some distinctly Thai character (i.e., a consonant or vowel, not a punctuation mark).
    4. Insert the tenth footnote.
    5. Write the tenth footnote wholly in Thai.
    6. Export the document to PDF

    The footnote number (as a superscript) in the body should be 10, and the corresponding footnote number in the footer should be 10.

    But you'll find that the footnote number (as a superscript) in the body is just 1, and the footnote number in the footer is just 1 as well, as shown in the leftmost column of the PDF file attached.

    Some more information:

    • The footnote number in the body is correct when the paragraph is in English.
    • The footnote number in the footnote is correct when the footnote is in English.
    • This bug is serious. Its existence means that InDesign simply doesn't support the creation of Thai documents with more than nine footnotes.

14. Embedding video and publishing online

    I tried to embed four small videos (first at HD and then at SD) but the online publishing kept coming up with a error #16 message, when I tried to do this. After trial and error, I only managed to upload three videos into the Annual Report I had put together - not ideal at all.

    This would imply that there IS a limitation in terms of file size when publishing online. The overall size of the InDesign file was 23,560 KB.

    The three videos at SD were: 73,907 KB, 156,488 KB, 48,701 KB. The additional SD video that I wanted to include but couldn't was 492,402 KB.

    This is such a shame as the ability to embed video using the online publishing option is such a game changer.

15. Share for review missing annotations

    Using 17.1 and just upgraded to 17.3. Have loved share for review, but recently I'm unable to see location of annotations from inside ID app or multiple web browsers: Editor leaves a note, I can see the note, but there's nothing to indicate where the note belongs on the page--not all of A's comments but many of them. Other editors also can't see the annotations either.

16. Relink all Instances

    New update does not allow you "Relink all Instances" if the link is broken.

    1. Excel sheet is placed / linked in file
    2. Excel sheet is updated
    3. Right click on broken link and select "Relink all Instances of [...]"
    4. Relink pop up window appears where it is "loading" file
    5. Window disappears but link is still broken and nothing is changed.

    Only happened after installing CC 17.4

17. Lack of full-screen mode support for MacOS

    Why don't you play nice with MacOS? They have had a full-screen mode for years, and you apparently couldn't care less about your Mac users' need for efficiency. Maximizing Adobe apps on separate desktops isn't at all the same as full-screen mode, so please don't pretend it is. Get off your ****, take the $52/month I and many others give you, and GET IT DONE!

18. Review Panel

    I'm really enjoying the "Share for Review" feature in InDesign, but I am experiencing some annoying bugs in the Review panel.

    Each time I click on an edit/comment in the Review panel, the program zooms out to fit the whole page in view. Every single time, I have to zoom back in to where I was before so I can get a closer view of what I'm doing.

    Also, the Filter settings keep adjusting without my input. For example, if I apply a proposed edit (like deleting part of a sentence) before marking it as resolved, that comment/edit moves down to an "unmapped comments" section within the panel and it moves my place down to the very bottom of the panel. Each time this happens, I have to reset the filter parameters then scroll back to where I was originally.

    I'd really like to see these issues resolved.

19. indesign gets stuck in opening a document without the fonts

    The software gets stuck in opening a document without the fonts!!! till the Missing font window will appear
    That's crazy!
    I just want to check an old file or look for a detail and I HAVE TO WAIT A MINUTE and Meanwhile all the documents are STUCK!!
    WHY??

20. "Selection" and "Direct Selection" tool icons mixed up in toolbar

    The button images for "selection" and "direct selection" tools are mixed-up. The buttons are still in their correct place, but the "selection tool" button now displays the white arrow in the toolbar, the "direct selection" button the black arrow.

    The mouse arrows themselves remain correct, as do their functions.
