1. Roboto protected

   If you use a Preflight profile that enables the option for protected fonts, recent versions of Indesign report the version of Roboto loaded through CC fonts as being protected, which is surely incorrect. PDFs do seem to have the fonts embedded correctly though.

3. Reflowable EPUB3: "Page Navigation" export option adds a space inside hyphenated words at page breaks

   1. Version of InDesign: 19.4

   2. steps to reproduce

      • create a new InDesign file
      • add a text frame to the blank page
      • add enough text so some words are hyphenated at the page breaks for the next pages
      • export to epub3
      • enable "Page Navigation" on EPUB export

   3. Expected result
      Page navigation markers are added without interrupting the hyphenated words at the page breaks.

   4. Actual result

      When using the "Page Navigation" export option for reflowable EPUB exports, InDesign adds a <span> and </span> tag pair with a blank space character in the HTML export instead of simply dropping the soft hyphen that was present in the print layout.

      Result in the EPUBs XHTML:

      <p class="bodytext">Idel illandia suntusdae quoditint debitatissit quam quamus magnimus es quiaeper elor eper<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>nat quo con re nimus?</p>

      Another example using English text (from the "Georgia" file in the EPUB3 samples project):

      In my file "georgia", the words "consists" and "headward" are both hyphenated by InDesign as "con-sists" and "head-ward" at the page breaks, but exported to EPUB as

      con<span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>sists

      and

      head<span id="page3" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="3" epub:type="pagebreak"> </span>ward</span>

      respectively, thus displaying as "con sists" and "head ward".

      I am confident that this is not an issue of readers / apps display the EPUB erroneously, as I tested my example files on a PC with Kindle Previewer 3.81, Adobe Digital Editions 4.5, Thorium 2.2.0, as well as on a Kindle Paperwhite via Send to Kindle, a tolino (popular brand of readers in Germany, both with Adobe RMSDK rendering engine and new Readium-based rendering engine), an iPad with Apple Books and a Pocketbook InkPad Color.

      The W3C recommendation for page break markers is not a pair of opening <span> and closing </span> tags, but a self-closing <span/> tag, e.g.

      <span id="page2" role="doc-pagebreak" aria-label="2" epub:type="pagebreak"/>

      which would look like this for the above examples:

      Personally, I'd think using a pair of <span> / </span> tags WITHOUT an additional space should work out, too, if you absolutely must use a tag pair for whatever reason.

      However, I would strongly urge you to change the implementation to conform to the W3C recommendation.

      Either way, the current behaviour creates errors on EPUB export which are not present in the indd source file - so please change this as soon as possible.

      How am I supposed to supply a sample file if I am neither allowed to upload indd, idml, epub or zip files‽

4. [InDesign 2025, 20.0.1][Win11 23H2]Installed ICC Color Profiles Sometimes Become Unavailable After System Shutdown

   My Win11 has fast boot disabled, so it gets completely shut down rather than just hibernated.

   Once I shut down the computer and start it again, sometimes all installed ICC profiles disappear from View > Proof Setup > Custom... > Device to Simulate

   They reappear after deleting the following files:

   1) C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Color\ACECache11.lst

   2) C:\Users<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Color\ACEConfigCache2.lst

5. InDesign 19.5 hangs on startup (ARM Mac, not sure about x86 and Windows)

   I've been experiencing this for some time on different Macs with different versions of InDesign. This time round I have a repeatable setup which makes the issue occur consistently. The issue occurs on 'real' machines as well as VMs - it's just that this time I've 'caught' the problem in one of my VMs.

   I am using a Mac OS X virtual machine (using Parallels) on an ARM processor (M2 Max, 64GB of memory). In the virtual machine, I've only installed Mac OS X Sequoia, Creative Cloud Desktop, and InDesign 19.5. Everything is as vanilla as it can be.

   When I launch InDesign it hangs. I tried a preference reset. No change. I've created a few samples with Activity Monitor, and then did a force quit after about 4 mins, and captured the crash logs from Apple and Adobe.

   The issue is repeatable - each launch, InDesign hangs.

   When I downgrade to InDesign 19.0, everything works fine - the issue seems to have started somewhere between 19.0 and 19.5

   I believe it to be some kind of deadlock - cursory viewing of the crash log seems to have a lot of threads just waiting.

   My hunch is that the issue might be related to the activation logic - my internet connection is sometimes slow, and I have a feeling there might be some deadlock situation when the connection is too slow, and something internally gives up waiting.

6. do script bug in indesign 2025?

   I have a script (extend script) file that has worked flawlessly in every version of InDesign for the last 15 years or so. Bercause it is used in semi-automated workflow I trigger it from an AppleScript, using the "do script" command.

   InDesign 2025 suddenly incorrectly reports a syntax error "expecting ;"

   The javascript that gets called works as expected, without warnings when run from the script panel.

   This is highly problematic for me, since triggering the script from applescript is an essential part of my workflow.

7. Bug - Overprint not working correctly

   I have noticed colours not displaying correctly when overprinting. It is happening on images, blocks of colour, everything.

   It seems that Cyan won't overprint Cyan. Magenta won't overprint Magenta. Yellow won't overprint yellow.

   I've tried all the colour profiles but that doesn't help. I have created a pdf from InDesign to illustrate the issue. The stars point to the incorrect overprints.

   I believe it is also happening in Illustrator.

   I updated my apps hoping that might help but I have the same problem on the latest versions.

   I've working in printing for a long time and this seems like it might be a bug.

   Using Indesign version 20.1.0.

8. document stuck halfway below view after zooming

   this is a bit hard to describe but basically when i'm working on a square shaped document, when zooming in or out—i think mostly out?—the document will stick halfway visible (see screenshot) and the only way to see the full page again is to hit cmd-0 to have it centre itself back on the screen. this happens to me uncountable times an hour and it's a real pain.

   Last summer we encountered an issue working with the [Share InDesign documents for review] feature. After transferring Indesign documents between colleagues for holidays, it turned out that this function does not work when InDesign documents are processed on other devices. Not even within our license.

   Indesign claims (attachment transcribed from Dutch):
   No access for review. You cannot create or update a review share since you a not the owner of the review. Please save this as a new document to create your own review.

   Easy to write, but we do not want to bother our customers (stakeholders) by sending them new URLs for all their review links. In addition, duplications of InDesign documents can cause production problems if wrong versions are processed.

   I consulted https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/share-for-review.html about this matter, but didn't find the clarification either.

   Is there a way to hand over the review ownership, so we can stay with the original documents and its review urls?

10. Links Not Auto Updating when Modified in InDesign 2025

    My workflow typically involves opening links from the InDesign document to edit by selecting the link from the Links panel and choosing Edit Original. In InDesign 2025, however, I've noticed that links are no longer updating whether it's a PSD or AI file and I assume other file types. This has never been the case before.

    I tried a test with a new file and placed two assets to the file. One was a PSD and the other was an AI. I then opened the links from InDesign, made an edit to each (one at a time), saved, closed, and went back to InDesign. Both links show up as modified with a warning in the preflight instead of updated.

    I thought the point of modifying links through InDesign was to avoid having to manually update all the links. I guess I'll just modify outside of InDesign and make the selection to update all on file open until this is fixed...

12. Can't select a swatch color for text or table fills

    While in an InDesign document, I can't change the color of text or fills within a table. When I click to apply, it thinks for a second, then makes a beep (the sound you hear if you have an open dialog box and you click outside of it), and then reverts back to the previously assigned color. I've tried overriding the paragraph/table styles, but hasn't worked yet. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm on version 19.5.

13. Drag and Drop from MacOS Preview App

    I would love to be able to drag and drop images from the macOS Preview app instead of having to drag and drop images from finder. When the images imported aren't named properly it can be annoying to find the right one. Usually I have images opened in the Preview app and would love to just be able to drag and drop them from there.

14. Applying the Brush to the Arc Only

    When we apply a brush, it applies it to the entire angled circle. When we draw an angular circle, can we add the option to apply brushes only to the arc? The color of the straight lines should be "none" so that the circle is not distorted.

15. merged cells cause missing stroke when reopening or importing document

    Versions InDesign 2024, InCopy 2024, InCopy 2022, InDesign 2022
    Steps to reproduce:
    - Open InCopy
    - Make a new document
    - Insert a 4x4 table
    - select table and set all strokes to zero width
    - enter text in col2:row3, col2:row4, col4:row3, col4:row4
    - make the bottom edge stroke of col2:row3 4 points thick and color black
    - make the bottom edge stroke of col4:row3 4 points thick and color 100% cyan
    - save and close the document
    - open the document and observe strokes are intact
    - merge col3:row4 with col4:row4
    - set text in last cell of rows 3 and 4 to align right
    - save and close document
    - reopen document and observe the cyan line is missing

    The attached video proves it in InCopy 2022, but the same happens in version 2024.

    The CYAN stroke is also missing when the files are brought into InDesign.

    The ICML shows the correct BottomEdgeStrokeColor and BottomEdgeStrokeWeight

17. Print to PDF with trapping gives undefined error.

    How about Adobe fix this problem of printing to PDF with trapping. It had been giving this problem since v18. Every printer that images film or plates use the trapping feature for assistance in press registration. Adobe InDesign is useless in creating PDF files with trapping. I guess I will have to start using my Quark Xpress program to do this.

    In the generated PDF file, in some cases, an additional letter is added to the hyphenation sign

19. Some dielines converting to filled shapes

    Environment:
    CS 2025 (InDesign 20.0.1, Illustrator 29.1)
    Mac Studio (M2 Ultra, 192gb, Sonoma 14.7.1)

    We receive dielines as .dxf files from engineering. We open these files in Illustrator and create a layered file (dieline and art), export the individual layers as dieline and art, then impose the project using InDesign. Some dielines are changing from a stroke to a filled shape (think Minus Front) once the .pdf file is written from InDesign. (line verified as line in Illustrator in both the Illustrator document and the pdf generated of the dieline to use for imposition. InDesign generated (imposed) pdf file is different from the files used to create the pdf. Attempted to resolve problem by placing Illustrator file and using "Object Layer Options" to control desired art. No effect.

    Occurs mostly on interior cuts, not perimeter cuts.

    Thoughts?

    Environment:
    CS 2025 (InDesign 20.0.1, Illustrator 29.1)
    Mac Studio (M2 Ultra, 192gb, Sonoma 14.7.1)

    We receive dielines as .dxf files from engineering. We open these files in Illustrator and create a layered file (dieline and art), export the individual layers as dieline and art, then impose the project using InDesign. Some dielines are changing from a stroke to a filled shape (think Minus Front) once the .pdf file is written from InDesign. 20. 縦書きテキストの縦横独立変倍による挙動がおかしい

    複数行ある縦書きのテキストを、フレームごと例えば横方向だけ50％縮小したとしたら、最後の行だけ縦方向に50％縮小される。逆に縦に50％縮小したら最後の行は横に50％される。
