Double clicking may just insert the cursor in the middle of a word or worse is only selecting part of the word, triple clicking sometimes just selects the word and not the whole line. All preferences are properly set. It just started with 19.0.1

2. Error 104705 when using script with app.doScript()

   InDesign 19.0.1 shows the error 104705 when using my script.
   In German:

3. Defined Names in .xlsx files Do Not Work When not specified in A1:Z9 format

   To Reproduce:
   - Create an excel spreadsheet
   - Create a table (example table below)
   - Name a range:
   - Insert^Name^Define Name
   
   - Use the default "Refers to:" (=Table1[#All])
   - Do this a second time
   - Use a specific range that is the same area (=Sheet1!$A$1:$C$11)
   - Save the file

   Attempt to Place in Adobe. Note that the second range is available for placement, the first is not. It seems that any named ranges that don't specify cells, and instead specify other placeholders (i.e. =Table1[[#All],[Description]:[Amount]]) do not work.

5. 18.1 Workspace resets to 'essentials'

   I'm working with Indesign 18.1 (issue also has occured with other older versions).

   My custom workspace utilizes a two-screen setup, one screen for the actual layout and the other screen for all the menus/palettes etc.

   Everytime I close out of a document and reopen a new document, the custom workspace resets from my custom workspace to a generic one-screen workspace. In previous versions, that reverted workspace was 'essentials' but with 1.81 it seems to be a partially custom / nondescript workspace....most likely because I went and deleted the 'essentials' workspace here:

   /Applications/Adobe InDesign 2023/Presets/InDesign_Workspaces

   I am working with a lot of different files everyday so this constant "reset, reapply the workspace" process is a real chore.

   I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling/updating to the current version from an older version also.

   I'm working with Indesign 18.1 (issue also has occured with other older versions).

6. Spot colors flagged because their name includes the word "pantone"

   Steps: Opening any file with manually-built spot colors with the word "pantone" in their names brings up the "this document uses Pantone colors" blue nag
   Expected: that spot colors built manually, not using any installed color books, will be left alone
   Actual: apparently the software flags the word "pantone", regardless of its origin

   Summary: Manually-created spot colors are being flagged in Indesign because they have Pantone in their names. I legally purchased Pantone books in prior years, and the colors I'm using were built by referring to the builds from those books. I am not using any installed software color libraries. I am not even using the color builds from the last several years' books. I may not use Pantone as a system anymore, but my printers do and pay their own licensing for its use. I have to tell them what color to use. How does Adobe propose I do this, if not in the way I have set up?

   The Style Packs feature is currently available only in English (International), English (North America), and German locales of InDesign.

   If you are using InDesign on any other locale than the ones mentioned above, you will not see this feature.

9. Auto-Size Frames create Overset Text when scaled or embedded

   Indd 2022 (German), v 17.4.2.77

   A recurring Bug: when auto-size text frames are embedded into each other and then placed from CC Libraries into a document and/or the included paragraph styles are updated, the frame collapses and creates overset Text.

   Similarily, the frames sometimes expland to ridiculous sizes. Usually, this can be "fixed" by typing in a new character and then deleting it, causing the frame to reevaluate its size. However it severely impacts the usability of our standard assets.

   Another issue: if a text frame is set to "auto-size" and there are borders set within the text frame, it will create Overset Text after scaling. The frame has to be fit to content anew to get rid of it. This should not happen.

10. Adobe Caslon Pro: Glyph as bullet does not function

    InDesign version 18.2.1 (Windows 10 x64). I would like to use a glyph as a bullet (the opentype digit 3 of Adobe Caslon Pro - an acorn). In the paragraph style box for my "Bulleted list" style, I am trying to add the bullet. When I click "add" and then click "ok," a standard round black dot appears in my list of bullet characters to choose from. If I try to add my preferred glyph (or any of the other opentype glyphs from the font's set, for that matter), the program tells me: "The selected bullet already appears in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box with this font and style association. Specify a different font or style, or select a different bullet." I also cannot add the glyph as bullet manually in the lists window. In short, adding a glyph as bullet is not functioning. There has been extensive discussion of this issue on the Adobe Support Community. Many people have suggested numerous solutions, but none have worked. 11. Design disappears in workspace, only selections are visible

    This issue seems to happen out of nowhere. Sometimes when revisiting InDesign, sometimes when zooming in or out. My whole design disappears into the workspace, only showing the selections when I click them.

    The only fix for now is saving and restarting InDesign, but it's very inconvenient.

    I am using macOS Sonoma 14.1, and InDesign 18.5.1.

12. About the default file format for PDF export of a book

    Selecting the default format for pdf export of books
    Due to the file type being in string order, the interactive format pdf is the default.
    It takes a step to select the print-ready format pdf, and one out of two times I accidentally select the interactive format.
    I almost never select the interactive format in my work.
    That being said, I think some users would prefer the interactive format to be the default, so we should be able to set the default format for the book's PDF output from the settings. Or, I would like PDF export for printing to be a separate menu item, just as PDF export for documents is a separate menu item.

14. Adobe InDesign list panels unusable + Mouse click outside InDesign window not working.

    After I type any value by keyboard entering on a dialogue box (like font size, transparency, color tone, font spacing etc), all InDesign list panels become unusable: list elements (swatches, fonts etc) slip away from mouse selection like they were anchored to cursor.

    In the video:
    1. two panels working correctly (not important which panels, the issue appears on ANY panel);
    2. typing of a random value on a random box (not important which box, the issue appears after ANY keyboard entering on ANY box);
    3. the same panels not working anymore (in the video I am only moving the cursor over them, without pressing any mouse button).

    Mouse click outside InDesign window to desktop or other apps also doesn't work.
    Functionality can be restored only by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Canc and then Esc.

    InDesign version: 18.2.1 (+ ANY earlier CC version. I posted an identical report for version 16 too).

    OS: Windows 10 x64
    PC model: Dell XPS-15
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

17. Display error shows outdated editing status of text and text frames

    1. Version of InDesign:
       18.0 / 18.5 with macOS Monterey / Ventura

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues:
       Not possible, error occurs unpredictable. It seems that the error occurs when using documents with many text frames that are linked across several pages. CPU or GPU does not make a difference.

    3. Expected result:
       Display of the same editing status when toggling between guideline view and preview

    4. Actual result (when error occurs):
       One of the two view variants shows outdated editing status of text and text frames, sometimes guideline view, sometimes preview.

18. Bulleted and numbered lists, "Restart Numbers at This Level After:" behavior is not consistent

    1. create a document with "Bulleted and numbered lists" and List Type "Numbers" 　* There are 3 types of headings and 3 levels.
    2. set the levels so that each heading is renumbered according to the higher level heading. 3.
    3. re-set the numbering style to "none" or remove "^#" from the "Number" to indicate numbering
    4. the numbers are no longer re-numbered.

    Workaround: set Mode to "Start At: 1" instead of "Continue from Previous Number

    I had quite a bit of trouble finding a workaround. Also, it is often the case that the higher levels do not want to display numbers, so the behavior should be consistent.

    Non è una nuova idea. è un bug dall'ultimo aggiornamento. Se faccio una stringa di testo e seleziono stile di carattere ad esempio corsivo, tondo chiaro ecc. selezionando la singola parola e applico lo stile influisce sull'intera strinca a differenza della precedente versione che teneva lao stile solo sul testo selezionato pur nella stressa riga.

20. No warning about missing links when exporting to jpeg or png

    If I have a document with a missing link, I get a warning when exporting to PDF that there are missing links. If I am exporting a jpeg or a png of the same document, I don't get any warnings at all about missing links and simply get pixelated graphics in the output.

    Exporting to a bitmap image should have the same warnings about missing links that exporting to PDF does.

    2. Place a graphic, then move the linked file so that it shows up as missing. Export the page/selection as png/jpeg
