Imported PDF comments listed in the wrong order
- InDesign 19.0
- Mark up an InDesign-exported PDF using Acrobat. The page should be text-heavy and have multiple, tedious changes indicated. Import the marked-up PDF into the source InDesign document's layout. Display the PDF and InDesign layout side-by-side on your screen.
- The comments should be listed in the same order in Acrobat and InDesign.
- The comments are listed in the correct order in Acrobat, but are in a completely random order in InDesign.
- See attached screen shot.
PDF comments invariably appear in the wrong order in the list compared to their counterparts in Acrobat. The Acrobat list makes sense as comments are listed from the top to the bottom of each page. But in InDesign they are listed in a completely random order.
Because not all comments get imported correctly, and do not retain formatting from Acrobat (which is another problem that needs to be addressed), I must put the PDF and the InDesign file on my screen side-by-side so I can check the source PDF as I work my way through a long document. I need to go down the list in order.
It's incredibly frustrating and time consuming to not be able to follow along between the two Adobe programs in the same order. You're forced to either jump randomly all over the page in InDesign, or follow Acrobat's more sensible order but then hunt in InDesign's list for the corresponding comment.
Please fix this, it's been broken since PDF Comments was first introduced!

While Adobe is messing about with frivolous new features nobody asked for like Generative AI images, longstanding bugs like this are not being fixed. As of InDesign 19.4 (April 2024) this bug has still not been addressed and continues to slow down my workflow. PLEASE FIX IT ADOBE!
