1. Project goes blank

   I've been using the new Indesign 20.0 and it will often go blank to a completely grey screen in the working area. I can see the toolbar, and even the image gizmo but none of the actual content. I tried switching preview modes and to presentation mode and nothing works besides just quitting out and opening it back up. It seems to happen when it's been in the background for a while and I switch back to it. It's extremely frustrating. I'm on a Macbook Pro M3 maxed out specs on Mac OS Sequia 15.0.1 (24A348).

   This may be related but even when the content is visible and I'm trying to re-position my images in their frames I can't see the box outline or handles. Whats odd is when the content goes blank I can see the image outline and handles. Not sure if the box/handle color is blending in with my background or what is going on, I just have to hover my mouse and guess where an edge is. That is a constant issue. I had tried to see if i could change the color of the box/handles but it doesn't seem so. Also very frustrating.

2. Screen tearing while scrolling

   I'm having issues with screen tearing in InDesign 2023 and 2024. I've tried resizing UI, testing an earlier version of InDesign (hence 2023), making sure my computer was set to best performance over battery saver, etc. Inevitably when I scroll around, lines of text will jump around or break. I'm operating a brand new windows 11 computer with 16gb of RAM, and this is a two page InDesign document with one image, so...

3. drag and drop + option key (for objects and pages) crashes ID

   since the update 20.1, drag and drop + option key crashes InDesign. sometimes, while duplicating a box. sometimes, trygin to duplicate a page (as seen in the attachment).

   We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

4. Make it possible to paste a color code containing a # character

   Please make it possible to paste a HEX color text string containing a hash character (e.g. "#ffffff"), into the the small text box in the color panel.
   At least on Mac, it is not possible in Indesign 20.1. Very annoying.

5. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - Users are facing issues while scrolling using Trackpad/Touchpad

   I have installed the upgrade to Adobe InDesign 2024 (build 19.0) while keeping version 2023 (build 18.5) and have encountered the following problem:

   • After opening a document, the mouse scroll wheel does not seem to work (i.e. it is not possible to scroll up or down the contents of a page). However, this condition still works in InDesign version 2023.

   Has anyone encountered the same problem and found a solution?

6. 1:1 print size zoom scale please !

   Please add a feature to select/setup a 1:1 screen to print scale, so that the 100% zoom can display the document at "real life" output size. (both on computer and monitor, hence the need for a personalized setup for different monitors)
   This could ideally be saved, the same way worskpaces can be saved.

8. no spellcheck

   there is no spellcheck which really bothers me, I had to manually type in the right spelling, wasting my time because English is not my first language i forget how to spell some words, it takes hours for me to type something without spellcheck. Please add this function to InDesign it really is necessary

9. In Arabic OpenType-SVG fonts, glyphs shift seemingly randomly in all directions

   In Arabic fonts with SVG table, glyphs move up, down, left, and right seemingly randomly, and typing more text or adding vowel marks change how the glyphs are shifted.

   If the fonts are processed to remove the SVG table, they work fine (but color glyphs are not colored, obviously).

   Illustrator and Photoshop do not have this issue, and the font with SVG table works normally.

   I tested this with https://github.com/aliftype/raqq/blob/main/fonts/Raqq.ttf as well as https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Reem+Kufi+Ink.

10. Bug: copying text set to French between documents changes language

    Windows 11, Indesign 20.1
    Problem description: I have six documents, two in German, two in English, two in French. In all six is a paragraph with the same name, but the language setting is according to the document language. Means, the style is set to French (for spelling checker) in the french documents. When copying text by copy & paste from one french document to the others, the language setting of that text in the target document changes to German. This doesn't happen when copying english text from an english document to the other english document, same with the german ones.

11. ePub 2.0.1 export creates invalid ePub files

    InDesign creates incorrect ePub in latest version (19.5) when exporting reflowable ePub 2.0.1.

    This is the result of any ePub generated with InDesign from the Draft2Digital Epub validator:

    1. ERROR(RSC-005): /OEBPS/content.opf(2,105): Error while parsing file: attribute "xml:lang" not allowed here; expected attribute "id"

    The "xml-lang=" attribute should not be removed from the "package" tag, as it is not in the ePub 2.0.1 standard.

    1. ERROR(RSC-005): /OEBPS/cover.xhtml(8,38): Error while parsing file: element "figure" not allowed anywhere; expected element "address", "blockquote", "del", "div", "dl", "h1", "h2", "h3", "h4", "h5", "h6", "hr", "ins", "noscript", "ns:svg", "ol", "p", "pre", "script", "table" or "ul" (with xmlns:ns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg")

    In previous versions of InDesign this was a "<div>". "<figure" is not part of the ePub 2.0.1. standard. This should be reverted to a "<div>"

    1. ERROR(RSC-005): /OEBPS/cover.xhtml(9,110): Error while parsing file: attribute "role" not allowed here; expected attribute "class", "dir", "height", "id", "ismap", "lang", "longdesc", "title", "usemap", "width" or "xml:lang"

    In previous versions of InDesign the "role=" tag was not present. It is also not part of the ePub 2.0.1. standard, so it should be removed.

    These bugs prevent upload of ePubs to all major platforms (CB in The Netherlands, Draft2Digital, IngramSpark, etc).

    InDesign creates incorrect ePub in latest version (19.5) when exporting reflowable ePub 2.0.1.

13. Unable to move any layers with mouse

    All layers are unable to move by clicking & dragging with mouse. When trying to drag, a red circle with a cross appears. Only way to move any layers is by nudging with keyboard. *All layers are unlocked
    Extremely detrimental to productivity & ability to work!

14. curser blink affecting whole screen

    Not an idea, however when the curser blinks, it's affecting the whole screen - very subtle, but on larger monitors is extremely noticeable.

15. Copying text frames results in pasted PDF

    Copying text frames from older versions of InDesign (example 2022 to 2025 – v.20.1) results in a pdf frame, meaning the text is uneditable. The only workaround I have discovered is to copy the text itself, paste it into the new document, and reformat the frame. I believe the discussion posted here - https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-locking-text-frames-with-old-id-files/m-p/15147987 – is referring to the same issue.

16. [ID-4260027] “Change Case” option does not refresh when opening saved search

    “Change Case” option does not refresh when opening saved search
    When a “Change Case” option is set on the GREP tab of the Find/Change dialog, it remains active until it is manually cleared or InDesign is restarted. This is a problem since it means that saved searches are producing unexpected results. Other options in the “change format” refresh as expected, so this appears to be a bug. It is especially problematic when running a chain of GREP searches because incorrect capitalization can result in numerous errors.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.0.192). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

17. InDesign 2024 (Mac) crash on quit

    Almost every time I quit InDesign 2024 (19.5.1), I get a crash report. I ve tried re-installing and deleted the preference files. No dice.
    I have no files open when I quit the application.

19. [ID-4259937][Document Specific] InDesign and InDesign Server go into infinite recompose

    The attached IDML file is a minimized test case for an infinite recompose loop. To start the loop, open the document in an InDesign client and select the gray text frame and turn off its text wrap property. To stop the loop, select Undo or close the document.

    The test case is taken from a real-world IDS incident where this loop monopolized the IDS process for several minutes until our watchdog killed it.

20. InDesign 20.1 Save & SaveAs opens files in last used folder, not containing folder

    Sonoma 14.4 & Apple M3 Max Chip - Whenever I work in files and try to save or SaveAs, it'll open in the last used folder in my computer. I have the manually find the folder I'm working from every time. This has been an issue since upgrading to this machine. I have a lot of weird bugs on this machine w/ Adobe Products...
