  1. InDesign 2020: crashing, undo doesn't work, missing fonts, text wrap is broken, so many bugs

    The Undo bug is back. I tried to undo some text (in a table) and it reverted the document back to the previous save and then crashed.

    On re-opening, ID complains that it can't find my installed fonts that I used in the document. They show up in the document, it just complains that they are not there. These are fonts that I bought and installed, so I know they are available.

    I have also been having problems with text wrap not working half the time. I set a box (I've tried both image and text boxes) to text wrap…

    Resolved For User  ·  amaarora responded

    As per the customer, the issue got resolved by uninstall and re installation of InDesign 2020.

  2. Indd file crashes when editing, including it into a book or during the book synchronization

    After the Indesign update to the 2020 version I started to have problems with a single file: the program crashes every time I try to edit this file (in particular when I try to modify the content in the middle of the file, at the end of a series of tables), to include it in a book, or to synchronize a book which includes this corrupted file.
    I attach the corrupted file, so you can check
    Is there a solutions?
    Thank you

    We have released InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) with a lot of stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

    If you still face this issue even after updating, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com:

    • Quit InDesign and create a backup of Preference and cache. Relaunch InDesign to observe if the preferences have been reset.
    • Next time when you encounter a crash, create a backup of Preference and cache prior to InDesign launch. If the issue is encountered, send the back up of preference and cache to the above mail ID

  4. Extendscript hangs CC2019 (14.0.2) on macOS

    Code below works fine on Windows and CC 2018 on Mac. But CC 2019 Mac it hangs the app once clicking the OK button in window 2. I've tried three different Macs including Mojave and High Sierra. All the same result. Pretty sure it's not just me. This bug has broken a number of my scripts that present a secondary window for saving settings.

    var w1 = new Window("dialog", "Window 1");

    var btnOpenWindow2 = w1.add("button", undefined, "Open Window 2");

    var btnOk1 = w1.add("button", undefined, "OK");

    btnOpenWindow2.onClick = function () {

    openWindow2();

    };

    btnOk1 = function () {

    w1.close();

    };

    w1.show();

  8. InCopy Assignments Updates Crash InDesign

    I have an InDesign book file housing several InDesign files that are news page documents with InCopy assignments. When I open the .indd files from the .indb file and a story has been updated (update links dialogue) when I click on "update links" InDesign crashes. I've clicked "don't update links" and it doesn't crash. However, when I go to the page that needs updating and I click update in the assignments panel, InDesign crashes.
    This all happened before and after I reset my InDesign preferences.

  12. Crash when exporting

    Every time I try to export my document to a PDF InDesign 12.1 crashes. I've quit and restarted the software, and restarted my computer. I have no pending updates. I'm not sure why the program crashes every time I try to export. I've tried to go around the issue by packaging the file, exporting directly to PDF, or getting a PDF from a "print" operation, but nothing seems to work. It crashes every time.

  13. Adobe Indesign Not responding when opened.

    I have tried all possible solutions, uninstalled, reinstalled, delete caches and preferences and resetting preferences, even used adobe cleaning tool but still the problem insists with not responding when opens just appears a black screen with only the name. I have tried to restart mac when InDesign was open and then it was launched fine but when closed and then relaunched the same problem again. I don't understand. I have also tried different versions but still the same problem. I have also tried to launch in safe mode but still the same problem. I have no clue this happens. all…

  14. Crashes on launch, menus not working, can't switch between apps

    I just updated to 2022 17.1 in the hope that crashes would cease, but not so.

    1. Version 2022 17.1
    2. OS Mac 12.1
    3. a. Crashes/freezes on launch OR displays spinning beach ball for long periods when in use.

    b. Clicking on menus does nothing -- no dropdown. Clicking precisely and holding down the mouse button does reveal menu, but menu disappears when mouse button is released, but this is lso inconsistent

    c. When Command-Tab-ing between open apps on the MacBook, InDesign disappears. You can only return to InDesign by clicking on an open window, but you cannot switch back to InDesign…

  15. InDesign crashes when formatting footnotes

    Formatting footnotes using InDesign 2022 v 17.1 causes severe lag and eventually the program seizes up and must be ended through task manager. Full details here:

    https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-crashes-when-formatting-footnotes/m-p/12712546#M463355

    The resolution to the issue was to roll back InDesign to 16.4.1, no such problems with that.

    Sample files that caused the crash are here:

  18. indesign crashes when inserting copied text from an external document

    indesign cc 2021 16.1

    I open an existing indesign document
    I copy text from a google doc / external file
    I insert text into existing connected text frame with the text spreading over both frames

    -> indesign crashes

    (restarting indesign did not help. restarting the mac did not help. wirting text by hand without copying works. copying text within the document works.)

  19. InDesign stalls with with new MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

    InDesign is stalling (pausing for up to 30 second) regularly on my new MacBook Air with the Silicon M1 chip. I know it is an Intel Based program but I don't think the emulator is working. Shouldn't Rosetta 2 download automatically when I use InDesign? I presume you (the good folks at Adobe) are working to make it native to the new chip. Happy Holidays. Seth
