  1. Duplicate Spread n times

In some occasions, I use InDesign to collect Photoshop or Illustrator artwork.
In that case, I create a page with a Rectangle Frame, Auto-Fit checked.
When I need e.g. 20 of these, I have to duplicate many times 1-2-4-8-16 etc.
Why not add a number to the duplicate function?

  2. Adding a dedicated Opentype window to InDesign, as is available in Illustrator (Alt + Shift + Ctrl/Cmd + T)

I think it would be extremely helpful to add a dedicated Opentype window to InDesign, as is available in Illustrator.

Changing more than one setting for a typeface - for example, removing ligatures and then enabling tabular lining - requires more than one navigation through the sub-menu within Character/Paragraph.

It seems strange that this is not a standard window in InDesign when it is in Illustrator, being that InDesign is the standard application for creating text-heavy page layouts.

  3. Fixing what was not broken?

    Swatches Window:
There is space at the bottom of the swatches menu to have buttons for the swatch types rather than grouping them into drop down menu. It takes more clicks and mousing around than it did in CS versions...

Same goes for Rotating spreads. I need to do this often - It used to be in the root of the pages menu, now it's nested under page attributes. Less efficient...
A drop menu at the bottom of the pages window might make sense for this feature?

New CC Libraries menu... it looks nicer I…

  4. Be able to export pdfs by sections and using section markers as pdf file names.

Be able to export pdfs by sections and using section markers as pdf file names. Also, being able to specify that each pdf start with page 1 regardless of the InDesign page number.

  5. Child object styles to inherit parent size and position

Object Style 1 includes width and/or height specs.
Object Style 2 is based on Object Style 1.
When Object Style 1's width/height specs are changed, they are not reflected in Object Style 2.
The only option seems to be 'Reset to base' in Object Style 2.

Please make it so that child object styles also inherit Size and Position settings.

  6. Repeat Table header?Skip the first row of the first table instead of the whole header of the first page

Duplicate header, there is an error.

Can I skip the first line of the header instead of the whole header.

What's the point of skipping the whole header on the first page?

My header has two lines. I skip the first line on the first page, which is more useful. How to operate?

David Blatner used a method, helpless, no real perfect solution.

    Adobe needs to improve.

  7. Buttons and forms (Interactive) panel needs revamping

The panel is barely usable in it's current form for anything more than a few buttons per page due to not being able to increase the height and width of the panel, especially the visibility section when a button is highlighted. At the bare minimum this needs to be resizable so that more can be seen so that linking and adjusting the on/off states of buttons can be performed more easily.

Ideally, the panel needs an overhaul so that multiple buttons can be shift+selected so that they can be set to be called before being visible by default, or switched…

  8. Page naming and exporting separate pages with it names as a sufix.

A above. I'd like to be able to name the pages separately and tick an option to use this names as sufixes when exporting separate pages (tiffs, jpgs, pngs, etc.).

  10. Useful feature request: Edit with... Photoshop/Illustrator with an Indesign Spread/Page overlay

I would like to see an option to Edit with Photoshop or Illustrator with an Overlay, optionally at an opacity, of rest of the Indesign page/spread elements. This would aid in area retouching/color adjustments where you need to know exactly where the items are on the page in relation to the image/vector.

Often I have to darken areas in an image behind type in Indesign and using a brush is often guess work. I have tried drop shadows and glows in the past with mixed results but usually to get specific letters to show over an image I have…

  11. Functionality to apply kerning before the first letter in a line

Feature Description: This feature should work like in Illustrator or Photoshop (even After Effects can do it). Please see attached screen capture.

    How it should work:
    1. Insert the cursor before the first character in a line
    2. Use the kerning in the character panel or with the shortcuts (ALT + arrow keys)
    3. kerning should be applied

Why: This would be a productivity enhancement and make it much easier to optically align the first letter in a line manually without having to use the Optical Margin alignment that only works for a whole story.

  12. publish online accessibility

Since the web has accessibility standards and guidelines, the documents created and hosted online using Publish Online should follow those guidelines, at least the most basic parts.

For example, a screen reader cannot read out any text on the pages because all the text is embedded into images. This makes the documents unusable for anybody with vision difficulties.

Please consider adding an option to create these files with the actual text saved as HTML paragraphs, headers, lists, anchors, etc. This would make it suitable for the web and much more appealing.

  13. Place the close button at the top of all pop up menus (rather than the bottom)

When I open pop up menus in InDesign they are often larger than my screen (see attached pic), and as the close button is at the bottom of all menus, I am unable to click on the close button. I'm forced to change the resolution setting of my desktop in order to be able to view and access the close button, which is very annoying. A quick and easy fix would be to have the close button at the top of each menu instead.

  16. Better Master Pages Concept

if a page is based on a mater page it seems likely that users will want to selectively turn on or off the visibility on a page to page basis.

currently in 13.1 x64 Indesign lets you choose none as an option on a page level of granularity

it would be better if the master page elements had their own layer in the page layers panel and each sub element that is on the master page had an eyeball icon to selectively turn on and off the visibility at the page being viewed.

  17. Cross-reference window really too small

I have to cross-reference dozens and dozens (not to say hundreds and hundreds) of items according to their item number. Of course, they all have a paragraph style and can be found, but not easily: the dialog box for the cross-reference is way too small, displaying only 6 items at the time and we need to scroll and scroll and scroll. On top of that, the items do not appear in alphabetical (or in this case by increasing number) but just randomly. Hair loss guaranted and nerve breaking after an hour of work on the menu too. Would it be…

  18. Import pdf-comments: not possible to locate notes on the page

If I Import PDF-Comments the included notes are in the comments, but I cannot locate them on the page. I don't know to which element the note is belonging.

  19. remove image from links panel

In the Links Panel, it would be very handy to remove an image that is listed simply by right clicking on it and removing it.

For example, I just manually removed over 500 images from image frames using the direct select tool. Theoretically, I could have selected those 500 images in the Links Panel, and removed them in the right click menu.

  20. Inserting multipage PDF into frames

I want to be able to insert multipage PDF file into Indesign in easier way, something like: create a frame, set settings, on the first page and then I want Indesign to create exact amount of pages as in PDF file and insert it automatically to box on each page with the same settings as the box on the first page. Thank you.
