Open and modify a pdf document directly in Adobe Indesign CC 2020
I don't understand why it isn't possible in Adobe Indesign CC 2020 to open pdf document and modify this document directly in the application.
Affinity Publisher proposes this feature by default and it's works perfectly !
On the screen you can see on the left Adobe PRO DC and on the right Affinity Publisher without any plugin. All can be edited : texte, image, ...
This feature will be added in the future ?
It's really dammage that Affinity Publisher proposes this feature, while Adobe Indesign is older.

Ability to save a user preset File view
Please provide the ability to save a user preset File view. I am constantly having to click on List view and setting it to sort A - Z this is becoming cumbersome when trying to quickly navigate my files saved to web in InDesign and other CC applications. I've provided two screen shots. The first one is in grid view which is what adobe always defaults to. The second screen shot is how the view I always use that would be so awesome if it would save which view I am using so I don't have to change it every…

Please start using the standard path location of files. I'm struggling with data merge handling thousands of images, which I would like to structure. Now I have to place all images within the main project folder, which makes it really messy.
This is not the way it should work, especially as we use this document on several different computer - which would make us change the master data every time we work with it.
C:/path/path/path/path/indesignproject/images/image.jpgIdeal would be to follow the standard OS paths which would make it work on the computer your opening the project on without having…

Please allow the option to put a published link that was deleted on accident in the trash instead of it being gone forever & one can restore.
My computer files got deleted, and then it decided to die all together, so I can't republish or update the existing link to my InDesign project. I tried on another computer but it's just not working.https://indd.adobe.com/view/6b986399-510f-4d0f-add0-187a36db3023

Font paths
In the Links pallet, I can see the path to a link; EVEN if it's missing I can see where it was linked from. I would like the same thing for Fonts. In Find/Replace fonts I can only see a path to fonts that are found. I would like a path for Missing fonts, so I know--- were the activated through the Cloud? Or from someone's Font folder (and not properly Packaged). If I know, I can either Activate the fonts from Adobe, or retrieve the fonts from their local hiding place. It would remove the risk of activating an…

Import mobile app Illustrator file directly into InDesign without needing to download or export first
I'd like to be able to place Illustrator mobile app files directly into InDesign, as opposed to exporting them or downloading them first.
I often place desktop Illustrator files into InDesign, therefore any changes I make in the Illustrator file I can update from the Links panel in InDesign ('update link'). However, I don't have this option with mobile app Illustrator files.
I understand I can download the files from my Adobe account, or export the files into jpeg/png etc. But I don't want this for two reasons:
1- It's an extra step in my workflow
2- I can't make…1 vote -
How about a progress bar when relinking images?
I just got back an InDesign document that someone else had edited, and I needed to point it towards my own copies of the links. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure out why InDesign would seemingly crash every time I tried to update the links (it would put up the "Spinning Rainbow Pizza Wheel of Death" cursor and "Force Quit Applications" would say that the program was "not responding.") I finally figured out that it was just taking 10-15 minutes to process all the images in the folder, but not putting up any information or a progess…

Differentiate Native Styles vs Styles that came in with copy/pasted text
I would like for there to be some type of differentiation between Styles in documents when copy/pasting or bringing in new styles. Old styles get mixed up with new ones, some have the same names (body copy for example) so it's hard to tell which ones are from pasted copy and which are the ones I'm currently using in my document.
Open to any format as long as the Styles from the original document are all in one grouping and any styles from Copy/Pasted text are in another distinct grouping. This could be done by folders, or color-coding, splitting…

Enlarge maximum image export sizes
I work for a company which uses InDesign for webtoon-style comic content. These are often extremely long vertical images (10000-20000px is common). When attempting to export to JPG/PNG for processing, InDesign will not process the larger files, claiming that they exceed the maximum size, even at resolutions as low as 200dpi (webtoons typically go online at 350dpi so these images need to be upscaled).
Exporting to PDF and re-exporting to the relevant image format allows the images to export at size, but often with additional scaling and does not 1:1 match the original pixel size.
This clearly isn't a limit…

Add custom labels to page thumbnails in the Pages panel
As someone who regularly works with large, multi-page InDesign documents - especially project-based packages - I’d love to see the ability to assign custom labels or names to individual pages in the Pages panel.
Currently, when I need to go back and edit a specific project page in a large qualifications package, it’s difficult and time-consuming to locate the right page. Using only numerical page numbers doesn’t give me the context I need, especially when each page represents a different project.
While section markers and visible labels on the page help somewhat, these don’t make navigation faster within the Pages…

Spread numbering confuses clients
When publishing spreads, numbering is for spreads spread 1, 2 ,3 etc but paging in document is different. This confuses clients and spreads should be numbered as pages page 1, page 2-3, page 4-5 etc.

nest pages
The pages panel is the most ridiculously cumbersome thing in the world!
I make digital planners and regularly work with documents that are over 2k pages long- there is SO MUCH SCROLLING OH MY GOD
Please make pages nestable where we can group them together and expand or hide as necessary like photoshop layers folders.
if designers are working on a book there's absolutely no need to see the entire book all the time - being able to work chapter by chapter is so much easier to manage than scrolling for a month! Also the scrolling in the pages…

Pantone libraries for color bridge CMYK formulas do not match the published Pantone formulas.
InDesign team advised Adobe has their own conversion. That's unacceptable. Designers need the confidence that the color libraries are in fact what they are called in CS. Any time a project goes to press and does not meet expectations, a printer can simply say - those colors are not the correct pantones and leave the designer holding the bag. Yes we can manually enter the correct values. But, unless designers experience a project go wrong, they're probably trusting Adobe libraries to be what they're called in CS. Adobe needs to update the libraries, or delete them, or simply call them…

Creative Cloud Documents - File Open facility needs vital features
I think one of the most important facilities for making good use of Cloud Docs will be document management. I have been extremely frustrated by the total lack of such features in the recent Document Open interface, which just lists some very small number of recent docs, without any consideration of folders, projects, clients, or other important organizational features. The OS provides us with hierarchical folders that can do a fairly good job of organizing the dozens (sometimes hundreds) of files on a project or for a client, but without some facilities for that purpose, I can see…

Super/Subscript Pair
A style which will display superscript and subscript values stacked over each other and only occupy a single character space within text. This would be similar to the MathML <msubsup>.
This functionality would allow for some STEM publishing to use InDesign natively rather than creating hacks (or using other programs) to present information needed this treatment.

Allowing the Review Function to have live text editable/collaborative
The company I work for focuses more on publishing where we are working between an art and development team and an editorial team.
Currently, we use InCopy to allow our editors to be more hands on with their major changes they need to text. But it creates a long wait time, packaging and uploading large files to our current servers, and room for error for the designer or editor to not be working from the most updated file. The problem we are having with InCopy not only is the human error of the risk of outdated files, but uploading…
