   InDesign provides an option to export and import User Settings, providing users with a smooth and enhanced experience to restore their custom settings if needed. The feature is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.3.0.058)

    I have the same problem with CC2020 version 15.1.1, the same operations work well on InDesign CC2019 version 14.0.3.
    That's another bug introduced by version 15?

    Now it works only in an interactive PDF, if I remember well it worked also with Fixed Layout EPUB.

    My experience is that nothing changes if the document is an old or a new one.
    With 15.1 "official" release variables and markers changes to "ss" as soon as you apply one World Ready Composer features to the paragraph.

    They must implement a real PSD layer support. For now InDesign place the composite, not the separate layers.
