    Under Review  ·  amaarora responded

    Hi,
Thanks for reporting this issue. We have seen this issue being reported by some users ever since Paragraph Shading as a feature was introduced in InDesign.
I have marked this issue as “Under Review” for consideration by the InDesign team.

Fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign version - InDesign 2023. The fix should solve most of the issues that were seen earlier.

A new option "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap" is introduced in Preferences > Composition dialog. It is turned ON by default for new documents created in ID2023. For documents created in previous InDesign versions, this option is turned off by default - which can be turned ON to see the improved behavior.

Please let us know how the fix is working for you.

    Hi together,
the same problem applies to merged paragraph shading. That's visible if you are using rounded corners with paragraph shading.

    Hi Roland,
do you mean export of selected pages in the Pages Panel?
Or also selected pages with the Page Tool?

    Hi together,
as written in the linked thread my tests are showing that this issue is a mix of several things:

    1. Wingdings font used for the "bullet"
    2. Bold used in characters after the Wingdings "bullet"
    3. Special character \x{0007} Indent Here Tab used

If Wingdings are not used there is no problem.
If formatting "Bold" is not used for the white space characters after the Wingdings character there is no problem.

    See my findings here:

Hi Helga, this is a bug in a specific version of InDesign.
If you are with InDesign CC 2017.1 there is a special fix for this that is not distributed through the Creative Cloud Desktop app. You can find the fix here:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/troubleshoot-issues-indesign-cc-2017_1.html

Need More Info  ·  amaarora responded

    Hi,
In step 4, are you setting the find format field to be the character style you have created in step step 1?
If yes, then InDesign will only find those “x” which have the character style same as in the find format field (=character style created in step 1 and applied to only first x)
    https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/find-change.html

Please can you elaborate a little more on the steps.

    Hi Aman,
shouldn't a Glyph Find be shielded from a Text Find and vice versa?
FWIW: I can recreate the problem!

How can a Character Style defined in Find Format for a Text Find action influence the Find What field of a Glyph Find?

    Best,
    Uwe Laubender

    Hi Abhinav,
I think, you mean, that the fix is available in beta builds :-)
    And it is…

Note: Would be good to mention what the exact version number is where this issue is fixed.

    Thanks,
    Uwe Laubender

I see this bug with InDesign CS6 through to the current version CC 2018 13.0.1.207.
Tested on OS X 10.11.6, but I think, it's also on Windows OS.

    Regards,
    Uwe

    Hi Christian,
I think this bug is in a couple of versions.
A workaround would be to move the rectangles away from spine.
    0.001 mm will do.

    Best,
    Uwe

This problem is resolved now. No bug.
It's collection vs array, unresolved items vs resolved items with everyItem().getElements().

    I think, that's no bug. But I'm not sure…
Provided your allPageItems[0] contains a text frame and that text frame is showing overset and therefore is showing only 3 out of 5 tables, then the tables.length value is only 3.

    If you are asking differently:
    app.documents[0].allPageItems[0].parentStory.tables.length
    you'd get 5 as result.

    Also:
    app.documents[0].stories[0].tables.length
if your tables are created with that story.

    Regards;
    Uwe

    Hm…
At least text in placed InDesign pages should be—in theory—convertable the same way like text is handled now: SVG vector shapes. That would be a huge step forward, I think. How much developing effort would that be?

It would also be a nice feature for InDesign layouts as well: "Convert placed InDesign pages to native objects". Something like that…

    Regards,
    Uwe

    Hi Matthias,
the reason you are seeing this is, that ALL page elements with exception of text is exported as pixels. Be them JPEG or PNG images. Text is exported as vector outlines in SVG format if possible. More items of a page should be exported to SVG if possible.

    Regards,
    Uwe
