  1. Update to the latest version not possible

    After reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe InDesign CC 2018 (version 13.1) on a new Windows computer, it is not possible to update to the latest version 13.1.1.
    Even with a new installation of Adobe InDesign, version 13.0, no update is offered.
    All update installers should be available for all authorized versions * of the Creative Cloud.

  4. Indesig destroys its files

    Steps

    scenario: slow, instable internet connection or internet connection failure

    Indesign loses cloud linking to library assets
    InDesign freezes
    InDesign crashes
    Active Indesign file can no longer be opened on this computer despite restarting Windows + InDesign

    If the library is shared with other team members, they will not be able to open the file

    Only team members who are not working with this library can open the file

    If this team member now deletes the links to the assets, the other team members can reopen the file.

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

    If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

  5. Crash once PDF export complete

    InDesign 15.0 seems to crash once a PDF export has completed.

  6. Creative cloud libraries tool displaying smaller than frame 2023

    The CC libraries tool panel appears at a reduced % of the actual window frame size. Sometimes it's usable (in tiny format) but other times you can't actually click on anything.

    Have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and the problem remains.

    Also for what it's worth it only started happening when I installed on my new PC laptop (no issue in same software version but on old laptop)

  7. For some reason my design in indesign is not fully visible when i am working on it, even when i select fast display or high quality display

    it is so annoying to be working on my design and not to be able to see all of my work on my screen as so much of it is blank, and is only visible when i export it as a jpeg. THis is so unprofessional and inconsistent when trying to design that i can clearly see all of my work as i edit and improve it.   8. horizontal and vertical restrain with shift key not working.

    InDesign 19.4 will not allow me to constrain proportions when resizing a photo box. The window simply closes to re-crop the image. It does allow resizing the photo IN the box with the direct selection tool. It also will not allow me to constrain horizontally or vertically when shift-dragging any item. It also does not restrain the line tool. It also does not allow me to rebuild preferences.

  9. Shortcuts assigned to custom menus lost after opening Keyboard Shortcuts again, clicking Cancel [Mac]

    In brief: If user assigns a shortcut to a menu created by a script, the shortcut will be lost after opening the Keyboard Shortcuts window again and clicking Cancel.

    Affects both InDesign 2023 and 2024.

    It appears that it only happens on Mac.

  10. tool panel/character panel disappears

    Since INDesign 2023 my tool bar and character panels occasionally disappear. When I click out of the app and then come back to it later. They aren't there. When I go to the Window menu, I can get them back, but this is happening a few times a day and is an annoyance.

    Never had that in 15 years of InDesign.

    p.s. It happened once in Photoshop too!

  11. ID incorrectly enables Overprint when converting a text to paths

    This bug has been reproduced in Indesign 15.0 and 18.5. MacOS Sonoma.

    When you convert a BLACK text to outline, Overprint Fill is automatically enabled in the Attributes panel. The ‘Overprint’ selection remains applied even if you change the colour of this object.

    I've just had a print advert blown out of the water by my client because half of his logo had disappeared. It was blue and was overprinted even though I hadn't set anything like that.

  12. linked files ignored upon packaging

    1. Adobe InDesign Version 13.1 x64 on Windows
    2. images are linked within the document and shown as such. When I package the document, it shows "0 links found" and no linked files are packaged
    3. This is the first time I've packaged a document since upgrading to INDD 2018. Have never had it ignore links before
    4. No linked files are packaged
    5. It sees the links... but not in the "package" menu

  13. Lagging and glitching mouse pointer

    The problem comes when I expand or move a text box: the mouse glitches, the entire page lags and becomes half black, so I can't do anything properly.

    I've just reinstalled InD and installed all the updates or drivers coming from the OS (I have a 6 month Lenovo PC with Windows 11). I'm not using InD with browsers or other programs open. Sometimes, InD seems working, but when I restart InD after turning off the PC, the lagging and glitching mouse is still here.

    I have no idea of how fix this... it's exhausting because I can't paginate…

  14. Missing fonts, spell checking not working with InDesign 2020 build 15.0.2

    There are two bugs with InDesign 2020, build 15.0.2, which make it unusable for me. I have reverted to build 15.0, and the two bugs are not in that build.

    Bug 1 is that often when I export pages as a pdf, or I package the document, the fonts I am using in the document become missing afterward. I need to quit InDesign in order to have InDesign find those fonts again.

    Bug 2 is that spell checking no longer works. The spell checking window comes up, but it never catches any misspellings.

    Reverting InDesign to build 15.0 takes care…

  15. high cpu usage indesign

    I am periodically experiencing high CPU usage with InDesign 13.0 x64 on Windows 10. The CPU remains high even while not actively using InDesign and doesn't stop until I quit and relaunch the application. This issue only started happening within the past few weeks, probably after the most recent update.

    I'm attaching a screenshot from the Task Manager showing 50% CPU consumption. Please note that my laptop is quad-core. That means InDesign is fully consuming 2 CPUs (4 threads) continuously.

  16. default file type

    Running InDesign 2021 (16.0) under Windows 10 Pro v1909 Build 18363.1139, file extension .indd does not associate with InDesign and when attempt is made to 'Choose default apps by file type' under Default apps in Windows settings, the only choice offered for .indd file is 'Look for app in Microsoft store'.

  17. Cannot see open file windows (v 16.3.2)

    I upgraded to InDesign v 16.3.2 this morning and now I am not able to use it, as file windows are not visible. The Windows menu lists the files that are open, but they cannot be seen.

    Update: discovered that files can be seen if Application Frame is switched off under the Windows menu, but nothing can be seen if it's switched on again.

  18. Critical Bug with Font embedding on PDF Export - InDesign 17.2 and up

    OS: Windows 10
    Version: InDesign 17.2 and 17.2.1

    After the update to 17.2 and 17.2.1 the font embedding is not working properly anymore on PDF Export. It does not matter if we export to PDF/X-3 or smallest file size.

    The font in question here is Roboto Slab.
    After a downgrade to 17.1 everything worked properly. An upgrade to 17.2.1 again produced the same error.

    Expected result: propper font integration
    Actual result: Missing embedded font, text is torn apart, missing characters

  19. drag and drop + option key (for objects and pages) crashes ID

    since the update 20.1, drag and drop + option key crashes InDesign. sometimes, while duplicating a box. sometimes, trygin to duplicate a page (as seen in the attachment).

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

  20. InDesign Review Feature

    My coworker and I are both suddenly facing major problems with the review functionality with Adobe InDesign 16.1 (Windows). This has only been occurring for about 10 days. When the review function actually works instead of an error or just loading nonstop (only works 30% of the time now), the links often don't work in the end for other viewers to review and show up as an error.
