2. Can't use num. keypad for shortkeys

   Hi, I'm using InDesign v 13.1 x64 (up to date) on my laptop (Windows 10).
   On Photoshop and Illustrator, I've no issue with shortkeys but on InDesign, I can't do "CTRL+0" for example. When I try to edit shortkeys, the software doesn't recognize my input, as if I wasn't pressing "0".

   In InDesign, the numeric keypad is only meant to assign shortcuts to Styles – Paragraph, Character, Object, Table.

   For assigning shortcuts to other Application’s commands, you’ll have to use the other shortcuts – for e.g., to use Cmd+1 to bring image to 100%, you will have to press Cmd and the ‘1’ key that is above the letter keys (on English keyboard, 1 is above letter Q).

   Hope it helps to clarify how shortcuts work in InDesign.

   Steps to reproduce the issues:
   1. Create a new document.
   2. Select File > Place, check Show Import Options, select attached Columns_26.xlsx file.
   3. Note nonstandard default Cell Range: A1:A@10 (should be A1:Z10).
   4. Enter custom (valid) Cell Range "A1:E5"

   Expected result:
   No error and a table containing cells A1 through E5.

   Actual result:
   Error message, "You have not entered a valid 'Cell Range'. (See attached screenshot.)

   This error is given for any sheet whose right-most column is a multiple of 26 (so Z, AZ, BZ, etc.). Place the attached Columns_52.xlsx with range "A1:E5", for example.

   Adding/removing a column (attached Columns_27.xlsx file) avoids the error.

   Versions of Adobe InDesign:
   CS6 through CC 2018.0, Windows and macOS

5. Shortcuts register/work without modifier key

   You can enter one letter, number, and symbol to keyboard shortcuts for Style Options.
   The characters you typed are not displayed, but starting with InDesign 2020(15), it will act as a shortcut.
   This should be disabled.
   Prior to InDesign 2019(14), registration did not work.
   Common for Mac and Windows version.

6. macOS menu bar covers InDesign title bar (multi-screen setup)

   When running multiple screens connected to my MacBook Pro (14-inch, M1 Pro), InDesign's title bar will frequently get stuck under the macOS menu bar on the built-in screen, making it impossible to move the window either to another screen or within the built-in screen. I have to arrange the screens so the built-in screen is slightly above the others (even though it's below them physically) to get the title bar visible so I can move it.

   Interestingly, this phenomenon only occurs on the built-in screen. It's likely that InDesign doesn't know how to handle the macOS menu bar being taller (about 72 pixels instead of, what, 48?) and wrapping around the camera notch, so it doesn't respect the menu bar as a border.

7. Problem with drop shadow exposure when placing from Illustrator into Indesign

   I am using the latest version of Indesign (14.0.1) and Illustrator (23.0.1).
   When placing a .ai file with transparency in Indesign and then making a drop shadow (in Indesign), the transparant parts of the object has the drop shadow above it, instead of beneath... :0

8. No multicore, no gpu support this is RIDICULOUS

   Okay hear me out, I know for a fact this has been brought up I know.

   However in 2022 a multinational company doesn't support multicore and gpu performance for windows this is just insane, it's the biggest F U to the community.
   How I'm supposed to work on anything if my performance is garbage with VERY FEW OBJECTS, now you might say ah yes just press typical performance or fast perfomance if your pc is struggling. I have a proper pc (i9 9900k, 32gb ram, rtx 2080) really if this gear STRUGGLES with TEXT editing I'm speachless, for the sake of keeping your customers loyal add a GPU SUPPORT FOR INDESIGN ON WINDOWS HOW YOU DONT HAVE IT????? why my performance is so bad only because you don't have gpu support in 2022?

10. Bug: file conversion from newer ID version fails when done in a specific way

    ID version: 17.1
    System: Windows 10
    Steps:
    1. Double-click an INDD saved by a newer version of ID, perhaps 18, while ID isn't running yet.
    2. ID will start, try to open the file and come ip with the conversion dialog. If you then click "Convert", it won't actually convert the file, but do nothing. In this case you would have to close the conversion window and while ID is now running, double-click the INDD again.

12. Type Tool Flicker

    Specs:

    InDesign CC2018 (13.1)

    Mac Pro Late 2013

    Mac OS Mojave (10.14.3)

    64 GB RAM

    AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

    Any document when first opened will blink the document window (not the entire screen - just the document) when clicking into a frame with the Type tool.

    It occurs one time only then the remainder of work on that document is fine.

    Open another document, issue reoccurs.

    Double-clicking a text frame with the Selection tool will not blink and take you into the text frame without issue.

    I've reset ID Prefs, removed all third party plugins and zapped my PRAM just in case.

    InDesign does not have GPU turned on (unavailable due to incompatible monitor/chip)

    Tried on multiple Macs - including Macbook Pro and newest Mac Mini. Same results.

13. text overlap

    I'm using the Calendar Wizard template to create a calendar and quite often I find when I type text into the date window the text appears to overlap and I can't see what I'm typing (see image). This happens quite often and it's very frustrating. I'm using InDesign 2018 and I'm on a Mac with Mac OS Sierra. I would like to know how to fix this.

14. Drop Shadow is Very Buggy Within the App for Text

    The drop shadow effect is very buggy in the editor and has been for quite some time. I just dealt with it for the longest time but it seriously slows down production when I'm constantly having to "fix" it by making a change to the text then Undoing it (i.e. delete a character, then press Command+Z). The bug happens when Drop Shadow is applied to text and you scroll down the page a bit. The attached images show the before and after. If I scroll down the page after "fixing" it, it just re-bugs out. I work with white text so drop shadow is imperative for me to see the text against the white background of the page. Please fix this, it's been an issue for quite some time now, and apparently after looking through the forum it's not just with text either. Drop Shadow seems to be very buggy all around, which sucks because it's a fairly common effect that people use. Please help!

15. default file type

    Running InDesign 2021 (16.0) under Windows 10 Pro v1909 Build 18363.1139, file extension .indd does not associate with InDesign and when attempt is made to 'Choose default apps by file type' under Default apps in Windows settings, the only choice offered for .indd file is 'Look for app in Microsoft store'.

16. The UI is not scaling correctly on Windows 4k screens - UI too small

    Hi, I am having problems with the UI Scaling on InDesign on my 4k laptop. I am using the recommended system scaling of 250% which works well with other apps except for Adobe, most noticeably InDesign. I pay a premium price for Adobe CC which should be reflected in their products. The UI is way too small on InDesign compared to Illustrator and Photoshop.

    I also have problems in all adobe apps when using an external monitor to expand my screen size. Dragging the apps from one monitor to the other does all sorts of weird things.

    When exporting a document containing a variable font to a PDF, larger styles are clipped in some environments, and by some printers.

    Version: Adobe InDesign 21.2 v64
    Operating system: Windows 11 Pro 25H2
    Example PDF environment: Canon iR-ADV C5860 printer, UFRII_v10.19.21 driver

    Reproducing:
    1. Create an empty document
    2. Select a variable font (e.g. the OFL Noto Sans VF, https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans)
    3. Select a heavier or wider style than the default (clipping.indd)
    4. Export to PDF, with default settings (clipping.pdf)

    Expected: Text is as seen prior to exporting (expected.png)
    Actual: Text is clipped and illegible in some environments (simulated in actual.png)

    Root cause:
    This happens because the instanced fonts contained in the PDF do not have updated bounds in their glyf table glyph headers (bounds.png). To be OpenType specification compliant, these must instead cover the new outlines with variations applied in full. Without this, some rasterizers will clip to the prior bounds, making text illegible.

    Hello, just like this guy below :

    Help! Unable to activate fonts InDesign 2019

    I can't sync fonts on indesign from Adobe Fonts. Nothing works. Tried everything.

    Tried syncing them from the Adobe Font website, tried in Indesign, uninstalled all indesign versions, restarted preferences, uninstalled adobe cloud.

    Deactivating fonts on adobe font website, reactivating them. Doing the same in the cloud app. No fix.

    FONTS HAVING ISSUES : Source Sans pro, Open Sans, League Gothic, Fire Sans , Fire Sans 2.

    The error message is : "unable to sync one or more fonts" (tried all the troubleshoot fixes from adobe for this message)

    But other fonts work well and do sync : Franklin URW, Bebas Neue etc.

    My colleague has no issue on his mac, but I do on my PC. We share the same adobe licence for 2 computers. I tried stopping all software firewall inside Windows.

    It's not due to our network, because my colleague uses the same network...

    I'm currently stuck with projects that can't sync fonts.

    What to do ?

    We’ve seen this issue happen when you have the same Font already installed on your machine.

    So you may try going to where your Fonts are installed on Windows machine – (Control panel > Fonts) and uninstall/remove the Fonts that you are unable to Sync from Adobe Fonts.

    Hopefully, the problem should get resolved.

19. Change Format selection for "Change Case" disappears after altering Find Format

    Indesign 2025
    When searching for a style for which I want to perform a change case operation, it works fine. If I then want to change the style that I'm searching for, when I confirm that change and return to the main window of find/replace, the parameters for the "change format" window get wiped out...I believe this only happens with change case. I tested this by changing the case in the Basic formats to "all caps". I found that if I used any other parameter, or any other parameter in conjunction with the new "change case"...the "Change Format" parameters remained...but when only using the change case parameter, "Change Format" gets wiped out if you choose a different style or parameter in "Find Format".

    In short, the first time works. If you then try to change the Find Format selection, the Change Format selection for "Change Case" gets wiped out.

20. Update to the latest version not possible

    After reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe InDesign CC 2018 (version 13.1) on a new Windows computer, it is not possible to update to the latest version 13.1.1.
    Even with a new installation of Adobe InDesign, version 13.0, no update is offered.
    All update installers should be available for all authorized versions * of the Creative Cloud.
