Text in placed Illustrator object extends out of frame in PDF
I have a map done in Illustrator, saved as an .ai file. This has been placed into InDesign and slightly cropped so that one of the text labels is cut off. When I export this to PDF, the complete line of text shows on the page, extending out past the edge of the frame. The line and shape objects are cropped to the frame though.
The attached PDF shows screenshots illustrating this.
I have had the same thing happen in the same InDesign file (well, the same map template) with a placed InDesign document instead of a placed Illustrator file.

Crash and shifting of text markups
Exporting to IDML, to rtf or select all + paste lead to a system crash in InDesign CC 2017 (18.1.2). The export to pdf was possible. Using exclusion techniques, the typesetter was able to locate a bad paragraph in the middle of the document that crashes when selecting + pasting. She deleted this paragraph in text mode and re-inserted it. Now idml and rtf export works. But starting from this paragraph, all text markups in italic are now shifted (after the idml cleanup) by about 195 characters to the front. This error occurred shortly before printing and no one noticed.…

Bug with world ready composer when use space like thin en or em space in Thai language. And bug in text wrapping in 2020 version.
After updated to 2020 version that added support to Asian languages (include Thai), it look like Indesign force user (in my case Thai) to set language in Advanced Character Formats to Thai. After set the language Indesign also require me to use World-Ready Composer to set all tone marks in place.
.
Before the latest version, I always avoid to use World-Ready Composer because it combines a word to single object, not just locks tone mark and float vowel to character in the right position. By which it impossible to navigate with text tool to the position of text that…6 votesThe fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – that is, InDesign 15.0.2.

Modal disappearing, causing deadlock
Sometimes the Options-Window I have to frequently use to change the baseline-grid (sic!) disappears miraculously thus disabling any input (thankfully I hit save regularly).

BUG - 15.1.1 - Mac/PC - text threads don't display
On both Mac and PC, the 15.1.1 version doesn't display text frame threads.
When I create a new doc, threaded text frames DO show the threads. But when I open pre-existing documents, threads don't show at all. I've confirmed this behavior with a few other people, on both OS platforms. I'm running on Win10/64, [Version 10.0.18363.836]. The Mac users were on very recent OS's.

Endnote numbers superscripted overriden after Epub Export
After importing a document with the non-static text endnotes option, I applied a superscript character style to the endnote numbers and when I export to ePub 3.0 the superscripting disappears. The numbers references in the text are still superscripted as they should be, but the superscripting on the numbers before each endnote at the end of document has been dropped. For some reason Epub Export overrides the applied character style.

Corner Options remove the Inset Spacing on a Text Box
When you create a text box with an inset spacing, if you apply a corner option, the insert spacing is removed.
To fix it, all you got to do is go to the Text Frame Options and add the inset spacing again, but it would be great if it didn't get removed in the first place.

Adding text to "chained" anchored textframes causing complete crash when text is added to one of the first three frames
Indesign 2020, Version 15.0.1, iMac with Mac OS 10.15.1:
We have hundreds of documents created in Indesign 2019 with "chained" anchored textframes, sometimes 4, sometimes 5 frames in a row. Frames are set to automatical height adjust. When text is added to one of the first three frames causing the frame to become higher than before Indesign chrashes completely without warning. Adding text to frame 4 or 5 does NOT create a crash! Same files work perfectly under Indesign 2019. Problem occured with first version of Indesign 2020, and remains after recent update.
Would love to attach an Indesign…

Allow InDesign to retain local formatting when updating linked text files.
When using linked text files in InDesign, any local formatting changes made directly in InDesign (such as font size, color, bold/italic, etc.) are lost when the external text file is updated. This is a significant limitation for designers who need to maintain complex formatting in layouts. Please add an option to retain local formatting when linked text files are updated.
Suggestion:
“Preserve Local Formatting” in the Links panel or File Handling preferences.1 vote -
Share for Review strikethrough & highlight from online edits aren't visible in InDesign
InDesign Vs. 16 Share for Review: if the reviewer uses the strikethrough text or highlight option, I don't see these in my indesign doc. I can see the strikethrough text on the browser version, but the highlight disppears completely. The review comment is in both places, just not what it's referencing.

Bullet/number markers included in adjacent hyperlinked text when exported as HTML
When exporting content containing bulleted/numbered lists to HTML (using the Bullets/Numbers: Convert to Text option in HTML Export Options), bulleted or numbered list item markers that are immediately followed by hyperlinked text get included with the text inside an <a /> tag. It would be more predictable (and easier to format with CSS) if the bullet/number markers remained outside of the <a /> tag.

Justifying frame or change leading causes text to change
This is happening from time to time. The hyphenation of the word inside the red stroke is removed simply by setting the text frame vertical justfication to 'Justify' or by changing the leading of the paragraph. These modifications should not mess with the text and hyphenation. When this happens, in certain circumstances, it changes the number of lines of the paragraph (see prints), causing the whole story to reflow.

Selecting text is offset slightly so you select the wrong characters
Selecting text is sometimes really difficult as where you click is slightly off from what InDesign thinks you're clicking on. That means that when you highlight a word, it often misses the first character that you're trying to select. You then have to move the cursor slightly over another character for it to highlight it.
It's really frustrating as it doesn't seem to happen in all documents. The ones I'm having issues with at the moment use the customer's own font but I've been using that same font for about 5 years with no issues until now.
I'm using InDesign…

Quadclick to edit text in grouped textframes doesn't work anymore
(14.0.1 x64, Windows):
Switching from CS6 to CC.
The Task: you have a group of items. The groupd also contains a textframe with some text. You want to edit this text. There is a change in the way you can "click-into" the group and into the text edit mode.In CS6
- you doubleclicked on the textframe in the group (that selected the textframe in the group), and you doubleclicked again onto the text to get to edit the text (textcursor). It was fast. Basicly a quad-click.In CC:

Feature request: Link text in body and footnote Please add a function to link a word or phrase in the main text to a word or phrase in a fo
Dear Adobe InDesign team, I would like to request a new feature for Adobe InDesign: the ability to link a word or phrase in the main (body) text with a corresponding word or phrase in a footnote (or another text frame), so that if the main text moves to another page, the linked text in the footnote will also automatically move together. This feature is very important for professional publishing workflows, especially for complex academic, multilingual, and religious books. For example, in Islamic or scholarly works, it is critical that a term in the main text and its explanation in…

[ID-4256174]InDesign crashes while searching any font/word, etc., which is in overset text.
We have simple scripts that operate on script labels to Find and Replace Text, adjust Text Size, things like that. We've been using them for three years with no problems prior to v2025. They crash and bring up the option to send an error report. We're rolling back to 2024 now, we can't operate efficiently without these scripts.
