1. [ID-4261148] Character style "Include Html Class" check box removes the whole tag

   The "Include Classes in HTML" checkbox doesn't work for Character Styles. Whereas paragraph styles and object style export without the class, character styles actually export without the tag at all—losing any formatting for that style. This is the case both in HTML and EPUB export.

   Cursor Direction when typing Arabic or other RTL languages. in Middle Eastern version ONLY.

   1. All Middle Eastern versions (English يدعم العربية)

   2. Type Arabic text. Place the cursor within text. Hold "Shift" key and click on right arrow key on the keyboard to select/highlight text. Cursor moves left and select next character on the left while clicking on right arrow.

   3. To select a character to the left of the cursor, we should hold (Shift+left arrow) To select a character to the right of the cursor, we should hold (Shift+right arrow)

   4. What actually is happening now and for over 20 years when we had Adobe PageMaker ME and Adobe Illustrator ME is the opposite cursor behavior to the what we're trying to select. We hold (Shift+right arrow) cursor will move and select text to the left, we hold (Shift+left arrow) cursor will move and select text to the right.

4. "View PDF after exporting" previously opened acrobat, now my computer switches between opening Illustrator, Mircosoft Word, rarely Acrobat

   I've set my computer to use Acrobat as default, yet perhaps you could add an Application of choice to use when view exported PDF.

   Not sure if it's just a bug, but any fix would be welcome. Thank you!

5. No window appears when I open the app, not even when opening a previous document. Mac 10.13.2

   No window appears when I open the app, not even when opening a previous document. Running Mac 10.13.2 on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012. I tried using the 2017 version and no window appears there either! I need to do my work today!!!!

6. Hunspell dictionaries cannot be added in Sierra or High Sierra

   Adding Hunspell dictionaries breaks code-signing, and results in the whole of InDesign's spelling system being sand-boxed by OSX.

   Steps to reproduce:

   1. On High Sierra and InDesign CC, add a Hunspell dictionary, as detailed here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/add_cs_dictionaries.html

   2. Spell-check any InDesign document using the new dictionary and spell-checking then becomes unusable, until InDesign is uninstalled then re-installed.

   The following types of errors are produced in the console, showing that it's a code-signing issue, caused by dictionaries being installed within the Hunspell plugin bundle.

   Can I suggest that there should be another place to install additional languages, outside the InDesign application.

   The only way I can work with Latin and Ancient Greek languages currently is to use an El Capitan Mac, which does not have the sandboxing.

   AMFI: Check-fix enabled for binary '/Applications/Adobe InDesign CC 2018/Resources/Dictionaries/LILO/Linguistics/Providers/Plugins2/AdobeHunspellPlugin.bundl e/Contents/MacOS/AdobeHunspellPlugin' with TeamID 'JQ525L2MZD', identifier 'com.adobe.adobehunspellplugin2': broken signature treated as unsigned without privileges. This workaround will not work for software built on or after 10.12.

7. Cursor spins and text display lags while typing

   ISSUE: While typing, text display will freeze/lag, and the cursor will change to a loading icon for about 2 seconds, then the text will finally appear all at once after the loading icon changes back to a regular cursor. This happens while typing in a regular text box.

   EXPECTED RESULT: I expect text to appear on screen immediately as I press the key on the keyboard, not after a 2 second lag.

8. File rename

   InDesign 13.0 running Mac OX 10.12.6

   If and INDD file is renamed in the Finder when it's open in InDesign, saving the file will cause an error dialog to appear saying "Changes cannot be save as InDesign can no longer access the '[filepath:newfilename]' file. Place the file in the original location and try again." This error message appears whether trying to do a simple save or even Save As.

   This error appears even though both the window header and the file name in the error message both reflect the changed (not the original) file name.

   Unless file is restored to original file name, there is no way to save changes.

   Being able to rename files from the Finder while the files are still open in InDesign is a feature that InDesign has supported for years.

9. form field tag export

   Current version - InDesign CC 2018

   Form field tags are not created when exporting an interactive .pdf with tags.

   To recreate:
   1. Create a form with form fields.
   2. Add everything to Articles pane in order from top to bottom per page.
   3. Export to interactive .pdf, make sure to elect to create tags and set tabbing order by structure.

   Expected result - when the file runs through the Accessibility checker in Acrobat Pro - it passes.

   Actual result - all form fields are missing tags and does not pass the accessibility checker.

   Everything worked great before I updated InDesign on Friday 10.20.18.

   Current version - InDesign CC 2018

10. styles don't export to pdf tags

    All my paragraph styles are set to automatic for export options. When I export to pdf 99.9% comes over as 'span' in the reading order structure, not what it is supposed to be.

    There is the occasional H3 for some reason on some versions exported. Appears totally random. None on attached sample.

11. CC library tab won't select?

    When clicking on the dropdown menu to select a CC library, the tabs do not open unless I hold down the ^ button. When opened, I cannot select a CC library. Have refreshed several times but it still doesn't let me change the library! This is on InDesign for Mac.

13. [ID-4261359] Path ≠ line if you have a round arrow with an arrowhead as part of the path

    If you have a "round" arrow with the arrowhead as part of the path, the path (in my screenshot: blue) is no longer the same as the shown line of the arrow (black).
    This effect does not occur if the arrowhead is added to the path.

14. (InDesign)Problem with metadata after conversion v15 to v20

    After converting some old .indd files to v20 from v15 I see that custom metadata is completely wrong. I’d assume that during conversion InDesign finds old metadata packets and set incorrect values
    Here is the cimpress:Id value we have before conversion which is correct(pic1)

    But after conversion to v20(v19 works correct) I got something like this(pic2):
    To convert the file you need to simply open BEFORE_CONVERSION.indd in v20 Indesign

    Expected result is cimpress:Id have same value as pic1.png
    Actual result is pic2.png
    Is it possible to fix conversion process somehow, because it breaks a lot of flows and makes migration to the new InDesign versions impossible?

15. PDF preset: color output settings aren't being applied V21.0.2

    My company has been using the same PDF preset for a couple of years now. Since updating to V21.0.2, the color output settings specified in the preset are not being applied. I tried creating a new preset and the color output settings are still the default, instead of the very specific color settings I need applied for the print vendor we send files to.

    Could you share more details about the PDF Preset? What were the Color Output settings that are no longer getting applied in 21.0.2, can you show us some screengrabs?

16. Workspace resets every time I open (InDesign 2026)

    On the new InDesign (v21.0) all of my workspaces have been reset and aren't saving properly every time I open a new document. I even set up my docked tabs and tab groups and saved them to a NEW workspace within a fresh 2026 file, and it reset to a default state next time it's opened. It seems to ignore all of the tools I've chosen to remove from their tab groups and opens with all of the default tools within those tab groups.

    The screenshot with all of the icons is what all of my workspaces revert to upon opening InDesign 2026, while the other screenshot is what I've saved my workspace to include.

    On the new InDesign (v21.0) all of my workspaces have been reset and aren't saving properly every time I open a new document. 17. [ID-4272869] InDesign adds Blank space to top during PNG export for converted documents

    I booted up 2026 (version 21.0) and opened a file that I was working on literally yesterday. I have a text box over a solid fill background shape. When I exported them both together yesterday, it worked as expected. Today, it exports with an obnoxious blank space (or filled space if I uncheck "Transparent Background") at the top.

    Absolutely nothing changed with the file, it's just happening in 2026 and not in 2025. Comparison attached.

    Workaround: Export the document to IDML

    InDesign GREP Bug Report: OR Operator with Anchors Behaves Incorrectly

    Summary
    InDesign's GREP engine does not handle the OR operator (|) correctly when used with anchors (^ and $). This behavior differs significantly from standard regex engines and produces unexpected, inconsistent results.

    Problem Description
    When using the OR operator with anchors in InDesign GREP, the anchors are interpreted with incorrect precedence, causing the pattern to behave differently than expected. This issue has been confirmed as a bug by Peter Kahrel, author of "GREP in InDesign."

    Text: ab ac bc Expected (standard regex): Matches "ab" at line start AND "c" anywhere Actual InDesign result: Only matches "ab" at line start Issue: InDesign interprets as ^(ab|c) instead of (^ab)|c

19. History panel logs issues

    The history panel does not allow some actions to be undone. One is the act of stepping back several steps. As long as no new actions are done, you can step forward again, but as soon as you complete a new action, the inbetween steps disappear. The undo/redo history is also cleared; only new actions completed after that point can be undone. This is a problem because is makes it impossible to test various options and then quickly return to the original option, as I have often done in the past. Instead, the desired option must be set up again from scratch. (tested in v. 20.1, but also caused issues in older versions)

    • Actions logged appear to update/condense/disappear when switching to and from the Type tool. For example, if I create a text frame, enter some text, and then apply a stroke, the “Create text frame” option is no longer visible in the history panel, nor can it be undone with undo. If I create a 2nd text frame, all the previous steps for the first text frame disappear. Because “open” remains as the first action, it appears as if no other new actions were completed, but this is entirely false. Losing the ability to undo one’s actions is a serious hindrance. Undo history should not be cleared until the document is closed. I have also noticed there is sometimes a significant lag when switching to and from the text tool, and I suspect it has something to do with this. (tested in v. 20.1, did not notice before)

    • Many actions logged are too vague to identify, especially when multiple instances of the same action occur. It would be ideal if, instead of “Typing,” one would see “Typing 123…” Link updates could include a right click option to jump to the affected link. Alternately, selecting a step could select the affected text or object, or a page number could be made visible in the panel. It would also be helpful to save a thumbnail at certain points. (in all versions I have used, current version is 20.1)

20. Can't apply colour swatches in swatches pallette

    Indesign version 20.0.1
    Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1

    Steps:
    1. Create or open a document
    2. Create or select any text box or picture box
    3. Select any colour in the Swatches panel
    4. The colour swatch will hilite for a second when clicked, but then deselects and the colour is NOT applied to the object
    5. Same is true for text: Cannot apply any colour to text using the Swatches panel.
    6. Using the "Color" panel however does allow you to apply colours using CMYK or other spaces.

    Additional Notes:
    - Already tried manually deleting caches and preference files from user library
    - Already tried command-option-control-shift while starting Indesign to delete preferences
    - Rebooted Mac several times and also zapped PRAM
    - Only started happening today (I think Indesign was auto-updated by CC)
