  1. Tab indent of RTL Numbered List does not line up

See two screenshots attached, both are using the exact same settings, (Default, just changed to Hebrew numbering)
in InDesign 2019 (14.0.3) Everything is nicely aligned, vs in InDesign 2020 (15.0) it's jagged, and I'm not able to align it in any way (Tabs, Indenting, etc.).
I'm using InDesign 2020 תומך עיברית, on Windows 10

  3. InDesign 15.0 Smart Guides problem on converted files

After the 15.0 update InDesign does not show Smart Guides on files that are saved with the older version of InDesign. New blank documents show Smart Guides as they should but if I open (convert) old file to 15.0 Smart Guides stop working. So when I drag elements they don't snap to each other or center to the page for example.

    I'm working on Windows 10.

Thank you for sharing the feedback with us.
Please note that the design axes names are provided within the font itself, therefore the translated string for these axes names cannot be displayed unless the font designer has incorporated it in the font.

However, Adobe Illustrator explicitly translates 5 predominantly used design axes names(Weight, Width, Slant, etc.), but this does not seems appropriate for fonts having more than 5 design axes(like Amstelva Alpha which has 16 axes).

Hence the attribute names are not translated.

    Thanks,
    InDesign Team

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

  8. Thaana text properly composed in 14.0.3 messed after converting to 15.0

Weird changes in the text after converting file to 15.0. (Upon opening a file with Thaana text) see attached images.

Diacritics completely messed up AFTER recomposing (change alignment or reapply World-Ready composer) See attached images.

Cannot use double/triple-clicking to select text composed in the new composer. (can select paragraphs already composed in the previous version, if no changes are made to that paragraph.)

To see it in a new document: create a new document, copy and paste Thaana text (ex: Dhivehi Wikipedia), apply World-Ready composer.

  9. Cmd-O or Cmd-N doesn't work after InDesign starts up.

This has been an annoying bug for a while. If you open indesign, then use the command-O or command-N key to open/create a file, nothing happens. You just get an alert sound.

  10. Wrong translation of “rule” in Czech version of InDesign 2020

Please stop using Google Translate to translate Adobe UI to Czech language.

The new feature Column Rules is translated into Czech language as Regulations for Columns! (Pravidla pro sloupce) This is totally wrong! It should read “Linky mezi sloupci” (lines in between columns). Also the word “linie” is wrong, it is not used by designers. You should use “linka” as it is already in use in other UI dialogs in InDesign.

  11. When converting files to a new version, some converted files have "copy" added to the name.

Opening a book from a previous version, with automatic doc conversion selected, causes some files to be overwritten when saved with "copy" added to the name. This nuance has caused a cascading calamity for our file management. If this function is intended, then it's execution is downright dumb. Nowhere was this pitfall mentioned when opening the files and saving them. Automatic Document conversion should be just that, automatic. Not 'automatically' mess up my naming conventions and filing system.

    Shame on you Adobe.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Can you confirm the version of InDesign with which you are facing the issue?
It will be really helpful if you can share a screen recording of the workflow with us. It will give us unambiguous insight into the issue.

You can send the video and test files to abkaushi@adobe.com

  12. I can't open any file after upgrading to Catalina 15.10.1

Yesterday I switched from Mojave to the new version of MacOS Catalina (15.10.1), and InDesign CC 2019 (updated to version 14.0.3) immediately after switching to the new operating system started to no longer open the files, either from the "Open file" both by double clicking on the file (I also tried to open the files as a copy, but InDesign also crashes in that case).
Point out that I also tried uninstalling InDesign and erasing all preferences, but the situation is not solved.
I kindly ask you to resolve the situation (which is not the downgrade to the old Mojave…

  13. Y axis value changes when resizing document

Recently, we updated Indesign CC 2015 to CC 2018. Unfortunately we discovered a little flaw. When resizing a document (for instance A4 -> A3), objects like text boxes keep their X axis value, but the Y axis value changes! Since CC 2015 is obsolete and we couldn't reinstall it, we hoped CC 2017 would work correct, but this version has this bug as well.

  14. Excluding nummering of numbered paragraph titles in TOC does not work when a script generates TOC

    Current behavior:
The TOC style specifies to exclude the nummering of numbered paragraph titles (NumberedParagraphOptions.EXCLUDE_NUMBERS).
However, when the TOC is generated by a script via a call to createToc(), the TOC includes the nummering of numbered paragraph titles.

    Expected behavior:
The TOC excludes the nummering of numbered paragraph titles, as specified in the TOC style.

When the TOC is updated manually afterwards, the nummering disappears.

When Googling for this problem, I saw that this issue was mentioned in the old archive. See attachment. Unfortunately, that archive is not available anymore.

  15. pdf proof settings

Easier way for artists who dont understand prepress to provide print ready pdf proofs with the correct settings that match pressready or digital print without causing issues. Reduces issues with colors or layering not set correctly by the artist.

  16. Reveal in Finder on NAS Server not working

When using InDesign 14.0.3, on mac OS X Catalina (10.15.1), ctrl clicking the .indd file's title bar to reveal in finder doesn't work (switches to finder but doesn't reveal) if the .indd file is stored on NAS RAID server. Server connection is afp://
Revel in Finder command works fine if the .indd file is stored locally.

  17. Live-Linking Word Document

Since updating to 14.0.3 the live linking function for text documents no longer works.

Since updating to 14.0.3 if I place a word document into my Indesign Document and ensure that the link text setting is turned on in file handline it places the word document but is unable to update the file when changes are made in word. It won't even allow for manual updating and you have to re-place the document every time you make an update. This means our project is going to take a lot longer to finish as we have to re-map our paragraph styles…

  18. Content Collector Linked Images Not Updating

    OS: Windows 10
    InDesign Version: 14.0.3
Folder: Our folders are saved on Dropbox using desktop app
Who has the problem: My whole team at work.

My team runs static banner ads in automotive. The auto brands have event logos each month. We have several vehicles in running. Each file contains one vehicle and five different ad sizes. To update the logos faster we have them linked to a single InDesign file. That way we only have to relink the logo images in the one file. On original setup the links naturally are direct links, but since we archive each month…
