1. Alt text transposition issue with book files

   I'm using a book file to organize a number of interactive forms.

   When I export out the forms as interactive PDFs, the alt text that was designated in the "button and forms" panel for that form field sometimes gets switched out for alt text that is used in another form if the fields share the same name. This happens on export whether I use the"Export book to PDF" option in the book panel or I use the "File" option export (ctrl+E keyboard shortcut).

   The alt text remains correct in the InDesign file and only gets switched out upon export.

   For interactive text fields, I use the "description" field in the "Buttons and Forms" panel rather than using "object export options" alt text panel (I leave that as the default: "from structure".

   This workflow had worked in the past: I had used a book file with the forms in a previous iteration about 1 year ago with no issues.

   I'm using Adobe CC 2018 on Windows 10 Enterprise 2016.

2. Mistake in Dutch Tool Hints

   In the Dutch version of Indesign, the Tool Hints say that Ctrl+drag copies the item while dragging. This should be Alt+drag.

5. mergeRecords() breaks InDesign Server CC 2018

   Reference two forum posts:

   Posting as bug for the following reasons:
   1) Nobody seems to know why it's happening
   2) The script executes successfully with InDesign Desktop, but Server crashes (not just an error, full on stops).
   4) It's the only method that crashes InDesign Server I've found. I'm able to perform frame creation, image placement, find / replace, export PDF, etc... which leads me to conclude it's not an issue with my installation.
   3) Tested on 3 different computers

   The following .jsx will crash InDesign Server (replace paths with any of your own merging document files):

   InDesign Server will crash with the following error from the Server:
   Tue Sep 18 09:48:21 2018 INFO [javascript] Executing Script
   ./InDesignServer: line 13: 30363 Segmentation fault: 11 "$installed_name" "$@"

   The error report from the Terminal window that launched sampleclient responds with:
   Error -1 fault: SOAP-ENV:Client [no subcode]
   "End of file or no input: Operation interrupted or timed out"
   Detail: [no detail]

   The jsx code is checking if all of the files do in fact exist, and it passes those checks. I've since been able to work around this using doc.dataMergeProperties.exportFile(). However I can see this being an issue if instead of a PDF, I needed .INDD files to be created from a merge.

6. Cannot add CC Library P/C styles to documents more than one at a time

   New problem: suddenly I can't add paragraph/character styles from CC Libraries to documents unless I choose them one-by-one.
   (I'm trying to overwrite a previous version of the same styles, which to date I have done without issue nearly every day for months.)
   I have made no changes to my system (InDesign2018 Version 13.1 on Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.4).

   Description of behavior:

   1. Select list of Character (or Paragraph) styles and right-click to use option to add to the current document. "Add" option NOT available.

   2. Select single Character (or Paragraph) style and right click to use option to add to the current document. "Add" option is available.

9. Placed illustrator .ai color dodge layers in Indesign don't display/print correctly

   Placing .ai stock files which have soft 'color dodge' layer highlights display and print as hard masks in Indesign. The solution I've found is re-saving the file as an EPS. Attached is a sample image (.ai on left, .eps on right).

10. text

    I am having text problems when regular text is near an image and the text which is within the boundary box of the image then text prints out bold. It does not appear bold on screen and the font is definetly regular but ive done some test and where the boudnary image box over hangs into text it then prints out bold mid word or wherever the image boudnary box is. This happens on psd images which have been deppetched and have no background.

11. Preferences won't fully show text

    Preference menu truncates the preferences option so it can not be read. Unable to resize window to see the text.

12. Menus and dialog boxes are off

    Using Windows 10, menus are off by 1. For example when hovering "Edit" the menu for "File" displays, Layout displays Edit, and so on.

    Also when clicking create new document, the dialog is blown up and does not work other than the "X" to close out.

15. Can not make a single change to the paragraph style options

    I can not make a single change to the paragraph style options or character style options. The only change it allows me to make is the font family only ONCE. This has been going on for about 2 months and can not fix it. PLEASE HELP. I can't set up a single style. It's Driving me NUTS.

16. "Preview images" not updated or created in certain circumstances

    Description: The previews are not updated in the following cases:

    • When the file is saved in IDML file format (you need to save in in INDD format before)
    • When the saving options are changed (under "Preferences > File handling") and the file is saved. You need to save the file with another name or make changes in order to have InDesign updating the previews.

    Basically, from our tests, the preview images are only generated when the file is changed and saved in INDD format.

       13.1 (but past CC releases were also impacted)

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues

    • Change the preview images options (under "Preferences > File handling")
    • Save the file

    1. Expected result
       The previews are updated taking the new settings into account

    2. Actual result
       The previews are not updated, ignoring the new settings

    Description: The previews are not updated in the following cases:

17. Clippingpath inset

    I don't really know if its a bug or a feature:

    If I set an inset for a clippingpath (made in Photoshop) by for example 3mm, it sets the inset based on the scaling of the image. Means: if my image is scaled by 50% the inset will only be 1,5mm. As I have a document with multiple scale ratios it is not possible to maintain a coherent inset amount.

    I use the clipping-path frame to generate a cutting contours for stickers which all have to have a specific inset to avoid "blank streaks".

18. Cannot mirror a footer

    I am taking an InDesign class and in one of the steps in the book it says, Use the selection tool, select the footer, hold down the Alt key, and drag the text frame to the right master page so that it snaps to the guides, mirroring the left master page.

    I have NO finger dexterity so cannot hold down multiple buttons is there a way to do the above without holding down the keys?

19. Fill with Placeholder Text doesn’t automatically change the font and characters for that language when holding ⌘ and choosing that from menu

    InDesign CC 2018 on macOS Mojave public Beta,
    when holding down ⌘ key and choose Type-> fill w place holder text, there’s a pop up menu that you can choose which language you want to fill in, and it did fill with placeholder text, However it didn’t fill in text with that language and choosing a font that suits that language, or even ragged left if it’s Arabian language.

    Please confirm if the issue happens only with Mojave. Was it working fine before upgrading to Mojave?

    Are CMD/opt keys working fine in other workflows?

20. Tagged Text file import randomly places URLs throughout text

    I can't import an InDesign Tagged Text file without getting randomly inserted footnote URLs placed throughout the text and all footnote links being broken.

    Since I'm working on a book and have hundreds of footnotes, I thought AITT would be my best option for backing up and recovering chapter text.
