1. For text frames with inset spacing and shaped corners, the text frame can auto-size to be much wider than the actual text

   InDesign: 15.0.1 x64
   Creative Cloud: 5.1.0.407

   This behavior varies depending on the combination of:
   - typeface
   - font size
   - corner size
   - inset spacing
   - actual text contents in text frame

   1. Put a few words in a text frame, and keep the text frame selected. I can trigger this easily with Minion Pro, Roboto, and Inconsolata.

   2. In Object -> Text Frame Options:

      • In the General section, set Inset Spacing to some nonzero value.
      • In the Auto-Size section, set Auto-Sizing to Height and Width, and enable No Line Breaks.

   3. Select the text frame with the Selection Tool. Set the corners to Rounded (or anything else that isn't None) and set the corner size to some nonzero value.

   4. Select the text frame with the Type tool. Using the little up and down buttons, repeatedly increase or decrease the size until the text frame auto-sizes to something way wider than the actual text. I've estimated this to be 3x to 10x the text width, depending on the factors listed above.

   Specific example:

   Minion Pro - Regular
   0p1 rounded corner size
   0p1 inset spacing
   Text: "typical example" (without quotes)
   Text frame is super wide at multiple font sizes between 10pt and 50pt. See screenshots for good results at 34pt but bad results at 35pt.

   InDesign: 15.0.1 x64
   Creative Cloud: 5.1.0.407

2. Anchor object and paragraph settings error

   Hello there.
   I make the carriage return settings in the paragraphs as in the picture. If I put an object per paragraph, it looks like the picture. Texts do not move away from the object properly.

3. Suggestion -book (choice of layers)

   I produce several multi-language books & brochures that consists of up to 114 separate documents linked via a Book file. Each language has its' own layer with the same name in all documents while other layers are exclusive to, or only exist in some documents. Currently when I have to Print or create a PDF of a specific language I have to open every single document to activate the layers I want visible, save, and then proceed to output the entire book.

   I would like to propose that Indesign incorporate an additional tab in its' print/pdf dialog boxes that lists ALL layers across all documents selected and allows the user to choose via a checkbox which layers are to be output.

   Furthermore I'd like to suggest layers with the same name work similar to how the Links dialog works where I could select the top-most label to output all layers with the same name -OR- have a drop down that lists the documents that layer name is found in & allows me to select which ones I want output or not.

   This would save a tremendous amount of time & effort especially when a change occurs across all languages requiring I output the entire book for each language. Currently having to open, activate/deactivate layers, & re-save every document for each language I need to output is extremely time consuming & ridiculous.

   Thank you in advance for your consideration. I truly hope you will choose to implement this suggestion.

4. Swatch shortcuts missing

   Hi,

   I've just notice that shortcut menu to delete, group etc has gone missing from my swatch panel. I can't find any way of getting this back.

5. Modifier keys for transform not working

   Transforming a selection normally can be influenced by holding down Shift and/or Command to respectively Constrain Rroportions and choose to Scale from center.

   But in InDesign 2020 on Mac OS Catalina this stopped working. Maybe due to a system setting (no antivirus is active at the moment).

   Does anyone know how to get back this essential functionality?

6. Button: Delete optional state and its content

   In the Button and Forms panel, the button [Delete optional state and its content] is always gray, it will not delete the selected button states.

   This is in ID2018, 2019, 2020 Mac & Windows. I have to go back to CS6 to see it working.

8. Crashes on opening document created in indd 2019

   Crashed as soon as I opened a document from 2019. After several tries, I was able to open the same document successfully, but it didn't recognize fonts in the Document fonts folder. It didn't matter whether it was opened from within InDesign or from the Finder. The successful attempt was from the Finder.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

9. Ai Transparency blends, placed into ID, exported to png w anti-alias on -> color mismatch

   Ai 2019 files, when opacity is set on parent group item and child items, and laid over a white background -- when placed into ID 2019 and exported to png w anti-alia on, there is a significant color mismatch. Strangely, when exported to png w anti-alias turned off, the correct color results. The ID export to png anti-alias code must have a bug in it. The same for jpg export. PDF export is fine.

10. InDesign 2020 pdfs not exporting correctly

    PDFs have an error when viewing in acrobat and can not be imported into another Indesign file as an image. This is for print ready pdf's, not interactive ones.

    The attached screenshot shows error message and the pdf has dropped an image and some copy.

11. Live Preflight reporting a false error in linked indesign docs

    Because of a crazy proofing process, when I put together a magazine, I create all the stories in individual indesign docs and then place the indesign doc into a "main" doc when they are finished. Preflight is flagging every placed indesign doc as having low resolution photos. When I open that doc to fix the issue, all the images are the correct high resolution and nothing is flagged in their preflight. Im worried Im going to miss a real issue.

    1. Im using Indesign 15.0.3
    2. Create an indesign doc with images that are high res, place it into another indesign doc, set the preflight to indicate low res images.
    3. If the placed doc has no preflight errors, the main doc shouldnt have any preflight errors
    4. The placed indesign doc is flagged for low res images

14. Exported interactive PDF does not honour reading order.

    1 – InDesign 2020 15.0
    2 – Have standard copy with headings and body copy with PDF export tags applied (H1, H2, P etc). Add images between sections of text. Drag elements into the Articles panel in the correct reading order and tick 'Use for Reading Order in Tagged PDF.
    3 – Images should be in the right order
    4 – Images are not in the right order. All figures are in a <Art> tag. This was not an issue in InDesign 2019.
    5 – Order should be first block of text, image (1) and then second block of text with an anchored image (2). Result (in second screenshot) is first block of text, second block of text and the anchored image, THEN image 1.

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

    In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

    Let us know in the comments section if you face any problem with the updation process.

15. Freeze after using default New Hyperlink to URL

    (I didn't see a category for Freeze. I figure Crash is pretty close.)

    In InDesign 15.0.3 on Windows 10:

    I had just finished inserting a hyperlink by selecting Chess.com, bringing up the New Hyperlink panel (with the 'To URL' option up), and pressing Enter.
    After waiting 15 minutes, it was still hung.
    It was the only app running.
    When I right-clicked on the InDesign icon on the taskbar and clicked 'Close window', a dialog box popped up saying, "Save changes to the Adobe InDesign document "16 - Glossary.indd" before closing?
    I clicked 'Yes'.
    It closed that dialog box and popped up with an alert saying, "Cannot save "16 - Glossary.indd".
    Repeated twice. Same results.
    Then I clicked 'No'.
    It closed out the document, then the "Save changes box popped up again."
    When I clicked 'Yes' there, InDesign closed down.

    When I launched InDesign again, it pretended it had loaded my standard workspace ("David's"), but hadn't. It didn't load it until I chose Windows > Workspace > Reset David's.

    The problem did not reproduce.

    (I didn't see a category for Freeze. I figure Crash is pretty close.)

    In InDesign 15.0.3 on Windows 10:

16. Opening Files InDesgin Freezes

    Adobe InDesign CC 2020 15.0.01 Mac

    Trying to open a file that was packaged in Indesign CC 2018, When opening Indesign Freezes and does nothing.

    Expected result: opening a file correctly with minor delay
    Actual Result: Indesign just freezes.

    NOTE: in the video an other file that i tried to open earlier but after force quiting the file opens as an Untitled file.

17. Importing Word Footnotes

    While placing Word file, footnotes and endnotes not appearing in Indesign while using copy & paste these are showing.

    2. I'm having InDesign issues recovering 2 proposal documents I was working on. When I went to save it I got this message and when I went to the folder the file was gone and only showing as a locked file. (please see attachments). Then when I tried opening InDesign back up it gave me this message. It's not letting me open it even when trying to open it from my desktop. (please see attachments.)
    3. Successful save and successful opening of files.
    4. Unable to save and recover document successfully.
