1. Effects Pallet is constantly disappearing from InDesign

   I don't know why, often after a restart of InDesign and sometimes while I'm using it the Effects Pallet disappears and no matter how many times I use the Windows> Effects menu item and it's shortcut Cmd + Shift + F10 I will not appear. It also isn't in the sidebars. I end up having to go through a bunch of preset workspaces until it turns up and then rebuild the workspace.

   Big waste of my time.

2. PDF with Identity-H encoded fonts not rendering in 2020

   PDFs with certain Identity-H encoded fonts do not display in InDesign 2020 (Windows, v 15.1.2), but work fine in InDesign 2019.

   The issue seems to be font encoding related – InDesign 2020 doesn’t like the Museo Sans 500 (and some other OpenType) fonts being embedded into the PDF using the Identity-H encoding. If the encoding is changed to ANSI encoding, then the PDFs render fine.

   Preflighting the PDF shows the problem fonts as Type 0.

   Conversion of the PDF using Acrobat to PDF/X appears to rebuild the PDF in such a way as InDesign is able to render it (although it increases the file size from 10Kb to 500Kb)

3. Adobe Fonts Not Activating

   Seems like InDesign is having a hard time connecting to the Adobe Font Library, when I try to activate fonts it is never successful and shows an error, same happens when I go onto the web page to activate.

   InDesign 15.0.3
   Font: Eurostile
   macOS Mojave 10.14.6

4. I've lost all save, save as, anything in the file menu. Nothing works. I can't close or save or export.

5. PSD reset to default look after updating layers into

   In inDesign (any version) :

   1- Import a PSD file with at least 3 layers and duplicate it,
   2- via the menu, for each duplicated image, hide and show different layers to make different visual / images with the same PSD file,
   3- via the menu in inDesign, modify 1 image to open it into Photoshop , then add 1 new layer into the PSD and hide it, then save

   Back in inDesign, every image will reset to the default look of the PSD.

   Why don't you warn with a message in this kind of cases, but keeping names of layers activated as it was before changes? Then the images will be the same as reworked first into inDesign. No need to redo the work for each duplicated PSD in case we are adding layers into PSD.

6. Indesign 15.0.1 EXTREMELY SLOW

8. Transparency on top of Pantone spot colors does not export correctly

   When I export a design that has an element with transparency on top of a Pantone solid, the element with transparency disappears in the output PDF.
   I tried different PDF settings but all have the same result. Changing the filetype of the element with transparency (PSD, PNG, PDF, …) does not change the result.
   I found that, when converting the Pantone solid to Lab or CMYK, the element with transparency appears again. But this workaround also means that I cannot use the Pantone library.
   Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

9. proportional scaling

   When I click and drag to re-size a text box or picture box, the proportions are constrained even though I'm NOT holding shift, and the lock button next to width and height is NOT selected.

   Just started today. I've shut down and re-started my computer. I've closed and re-opened InDesign. I've downloaded the most recent update for InDesign.

10. 15.1 and 15.1.1 Locking up and freezing when opening packaged files

    Same bug that we had with CS6.

    Basically if a Document Fonts folder exists, then opening the INDD file takes forever and/or freezes up constantly while working. But if we rename the subfolder or delete it altogether, then ID performs normally.

11. The Stroke Panel Table Cell Stroke picker box is adjusting other Workspace panels in its shared column

    My saved workspace has the Stroke Panel at the top of a column of panels and when I create a table and click into it to change its stroke, the Table Cell Stroke picker in the Stroke Panel expands. When I click outside of the table and the Table Cell Stroke picker goes away, the panels that expanded collapse, but other panels below stay in place. If this is done repeatedly, the other panels' locations/sizes would be altered permanently needing the Workspace to be reset.

    The video below shows what happens when the above described action is performed multiple times. Note this only occurs with the Swatches/Layers/Pages panels, this does not occur with the Character/Paragraph Styles panels. I have not tested this with any other expanding panels.

12. Problem with New File/PDF comments/Main windows: nothing there visable

    ID 15.1.1, Win10

    In this windows I see nothing, only the black window, one can see in the attachments:

    New File: no possibility to choose anything

    PDF Comments Window. Although the comments are visable in main text, I cannot accept them in PDF comments windows, because I don't see them there.

    The main InDesign window: when no file is opened, I see only black flat, no icons of previously opened files, as it was normally...

13. BUG: spell-checker not automatically applied after pasting text

    When pasting text into a new frame, the correct language (german 2006 in my case) for spellchecker is selected, but not applied to the new text. I need to select the the text and choose a different language for spell-check and then change back to the correct language, then it works.

    A pain in the a**, if you have to copy-n-paste many snippets from different documents to single frames.

14. Paragraph-Borders are not wrapped in appropriate container - InDesign 15.1.2 (macos)

    To reproduce add a border to a paragraph style (not the frame, the paragraph) apply this to an existing paragraph and export to PDF. In Acrobat use preflight to check for pdf/ua compliance. You will get an error message telling there is a content that is neither an artifact nor a tagged content.

    To fix this in Acrobat, you have to select the "path" elements in navigation pane and apply an apropriate parent container. Reason for this behavior is, that InDesign places the path that renders the border directly in the structure without a container element. And this does not conform to pdf/ua.

    I added two files to this post. One with the error message in preflight, the second shows a textfield of a demo form, where the labels is created with a paragraph style with a top boarder line. The top-border line is then created as path without parent in the PDF.

15. Fonts Not Loading

    Font loading is sporadic in InDesign 15.1.1 on macOS Catalina 10.15.5

    Fonts that were working just fine yesterday suddenly won't load. I've cleared caches to no avail.

    This affects InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop... however, Photoshop seems to be hit or miss... sometimes they load, sometimes they don't.

16. Latest Indesign update changes text flow.

    InDesign 15.1.1.1 introduces a new error. Text flow in a long document with justified text changes. I am using Mac Mojave 10.14.6. When I reinstalled 15.1 this problem went away.

17. Incopy with Conditional text not holding

    I design electrical manuals in InDesign, some text is shared between books using InCopy. Some of the text is product specific so I use Conditions to turn that text off and on. But when I create the Condition in one book and then open the book with shared InCopy links, that text and everything after it is now that same Condition.
    I tried everything to fix this. The only workaround I found to work is making the Paragraph Return before the text I want Conditioned and leaving the Paragraph return after my text Unconditional will work.

18. Share for review Icon is hiding content.

    The share for review icon is hiding my text in InDesign.

    Often I get text updated and users place the icon on top of the words.
    When I want to update the text, it is very difficult to see the text to update as the icon is placed right on top. Would be nice if I could move the icon a little.

    You can click on the Eye icon at the bottom of the Review panel to temporarily hide the annotations and unhide them again by clicking again on the Eye icon.

19. Lao Line Breaking punctuation issues

    When I work with Lao text, punctuation marks do not stay with the line they belong to. As you can see in this attached file, the question mark is on the line AFTER the sentence. This happens even when there is enough space for it to be on the previous line. I have found this issue with other characters such as parenthesis marks as well.

20. Cannot remove hyperlink from image

    For some reason InDesign has no option to remove hyperlink from an image. It took me hours to search for solution until I gave up and deleted the image and recreated it with a new hyperlink. This is pathetic and needs to change. When you right click an image, we should see "Hyperlink" > "Remove Link". This is so basic, its really upsetting to have to post this here.
