Increase Default Offset crop marks to .125 in
When you create a PDF from InDesign, the Default Offset for the Marks and Bleeds is .0833 in. Why is that, when the usual minimum bleed is .125 in. Yes, we can change it. But do you know how many people change it? ...not many.

The ability to select which pages are imported when uploading PDFs
I have multiple diagrams across multiple pages in a PDF. When I drag the PDF into InDesign, it will automatically choose the first page of the PDF without allowing me to select which page(s) to choose. I then have to open up Photoshop and resave the extra PDF pages as separate files and then re-upload back to InDesign :P

Save and Archive Comments in Share for Review
Ability to save the comments and replies made in Share for Review as a PDF or excel file. Very similar to how you would be able to save a PDF in acrobat with comments imbedded.

Hidden pages alert
PLEASE add an alert on a PDF export if pages are hidden. For many projects, we cannot risk have pages hidden in the final PDF (i.e., proposals).

More text formatting controls needed in Buttons & Forms Text Field)
Why are there so few controls for text formatting within the PDF Options panel of the Buttons and Forms panel (e.g. centering text within a Text Field, leading, kerning, Vertical and Horizontal Scaling etc.) than are available in the main InDesign application? Importance: the lack of text control when creating interactive pdf forms in the Buttons and Forms panel means that when text is added to a text fields, the result is a very unprofessional looking result when users type responses into the form.

Export from Pages Panel
The Pages panel — with pages selected — has a "print spreads/print pages" option in the contextual menu.
An option to export the selected spreads/pages to PDF would be useful, especially if it could be done seamlessly, without need for the Export Adobe PDF dialog.
Alternatively, the CMD-E shortcut with pages/spreads selected in the pages panel should bring up the Export Adobe PDF dialog with the selected page range already entered.
This would be especially useful when exporting contiguous pages!

Expose missing glyphs to scripting
It's very difficult to find missing glyphs with a script. There's a hack: look for glyph ID 0 in all the document's used font, but this hack is unreliable as it doesn't work in overset text.
To test whether a single character is a missing in its applied font you can (try to) convert it to outlines. That too is an ugly hack, and can't be used for longer stretches of text.
Please add a property to the Story object, say, missingGlyphs, so that the call
myStory.missingGlyphs
returns an array of glyphs missing in a story.
Thank you.

EXPORT JPG NAMED BY PAGE SIZE
Dear Adobe,
it would be very usefull if we could export jpgs from indd. file (contains different page sizes, 1200x628, 760x600, etc..) named by different page sizes like you did with export PDF files.

CMYK to RGB export should always translate 100K to RGB 0,0,0
As per the title, when working with a CMYK document with 100K blacks, when exporting to RGB, these should always get translated to RGB 0,0,0 - regardless of what Printing/Exporting setting is used in the Appearance of Black preference menu.
Right now, when exporting a CMYK document to RGB (regardless of whether you use PDF, PNG or JPG), if your Appearance to Black Print/Export setting is set to "Output All Blacks Accurately", you will end up with incorrect black levels. What really should be RGB 0,0,0 ends up being RGB 35,31,32 or so. This is true even when working…

Publish Online: comment mode
It should be possible to comment on specific parts of the page. Like in www.invisionapp.com So it could be possible to discuss an artwork with my client. Like I'm doing with PDF-comments at the moment. But in this case I could reply and discuss more. (show more than one versions of one page would be excellent!)

Custom Interactive Button Hotspots
I would like the ability to customize the shape of the hotspot that appears on an object given the button function.
For example, if I create an oval and convert it to a button, I would like to apply state changes when I rollover only on the shape of the oval. Currently we're limited to a 0/90 degree container that encompasses the entirety of the object.
I'm unsure if this is a PDF format limitation.

Package certain pages from an InDesign file.
It'd be great to be able to package certain pages from an InDesign file. Eg.: four pages in the middle of a 230 page document. Package a working file, fonts, art, PDF etc.

Put the Overset text warning directly at the beginning of the export file process
When I want to export a PDF, InDesign kindly reminds me of overset text or missing links. However, I do not understand why this warning appears at the very end, after I have gone through the file location selection and PDF export settings. Obviously, I want to correct this error in 95% of cases. Instead, I have to cancel the export, then go through the entire process again. The file location, file name, and any PDF export settings I might have changed are lost, and I have to start all over again.

Notification after background task completes
Sometimes background tasks can take a fair bit of time and we may switch to other things, take a phone call, go to lunch, meeting....If the Alerts panel was more about notifications, we would be able to know a bit more of what has happened with the task - if it completed, how long it took or even provide a link to view or email the exported PDF.

Keep InDesign in background while creating PDF (or any task), unless input needed for alert or error.
Mac OS, ID 18 (2023). While outputting a PDF or some other process that can take some time, I often switch to a different task -- but InDesign will make itself pop to the front multiple times partway through the process, usually without any input needed from me. Is necessary to switch back to the other program I am using again and again. The disruption wastes time and sometimes causes problems because I was in the middle of typing or moving the cursor when the window unexpectedly switches.

Feature Request: Support for Grayscale ICC profiles
Please add support for Grayscale profiles like in Photoshop. In InDesign, I can only define RGB and CMYK working space. In Photoshop, I can also define color space for grayscale files and files with spot colors.
Many books, magazines or newspapers are still printed using black ink only. Minimal support for grayscale workflow makes creating monochrome documents for different papers complicated as InDesign cannot convert grayscale profiles (ie. from Dot Gain 15% to Dot Gain 25%).15 votes -
Ability to print and/or download proofs
I have some clients that like to print hard copies of their proofs. Before the 'Share for Review" feature, it was a lot of pdf's making made and uploaded, which tended to crash my InDesign, so I do enjoy not having to create so many, and having one link throughout the process.
However, there is no option for the client to download a pdf or to print the pages directly from the proof... so then I'm back to making pdf's again. That is the only thing so far my clients seem unhappy about with the new proofing system,…25 votes -
Import controls for Libraries
Provide an option to control how a Library item imports into InDesign. Since Libraries created from AI are treated as PDF, they place with the Bounding Box (Visible Layers) option if the user hadn't changed the PDF Import options. There is no way to control the import into Photoshop, as Photoshop doesn't remember the last PDF import option, unlike InDesign.
