Update the analytics feature on the Publish Online Dashboard so you can see all the individual analytics for each document
Currently on the overview you can see many analytics for all your documents combined, but on the document trends screen, only views and readers are available. It would be helpful to offer our clients more specific analytics.

Urgent support needed for .webp images in InDesign & Photoshop
With the latest MacOS update Safari is now allowing .webp images. As a design studio we do LOTS of moodboards, research docs etc. gathering 100s of images at a time. Now I realise half need to be manually resaved — and in Preview of all places because not only are they not supported in InDesign, but Photoshop either. Urgent help needed!!!! This is adding so much time to my day.

Share for Review - Option to select/highlight text
When an editor is reviewing the document it whould be verry nice to have the option to select a part of a sentence that has to be corrected. Now there is only the option to pin it or draw a shape.
The editor now had to select the text, make a Pin and paste the text that has to be changed in the review box and add the new text.
Ideal whould be to have the option when text is selected the interface makes a new notiation from the selected text and highlights it in the document.

Row Height and Column Width definitions in Cell Styles
It would be really helpful if you could control the width and height of cells through Cell Styles, a bit like you can with Object Styles.

Book synchronize feature does not synchronize color groups
Color groups are not synchronized via the book feature. I'm happy that the colors inside the group are not lost but placed "normal" on the first level of the color panel.
But to have all book files with the same order even at the color panel would be great. So please make synchronizing work correctly even at this tiny thing.

Add Space Before on Column Top checkbox
Currently the ‘Space Before’ value is ignored when that paragraph appears on the top of any container—frame/column.
There are innumerable occasions when we need the above space settings to be honoured even when the paragraph appears on the top of the column. We InDesigners resort to various antics and workaround like keeping an ‘Invisible Rule Above’ or use a character style with extra leading etc..
It is very easily solved by a simple checkbox in the Indents and Spacing tab just below ‘Space Before’ selection which says ‘Add Space Before on column top’. If checked, the value will always be used even when the paragraph appears on the top of the page.

Background Task Toggle on/off
The Background Task hangs when making a PDF. Add a toggle on/off of the Background Tasks to force a foreground PDF export. This has been an issue for many years and still isn't corrected!

Adding an option to increase the anchor point handle size
Adding an option to increase the anchor point handle size, to make them easier to select
27 votesThe option to increase the size of Anchor Points, size of Direction Handles, and Bounding Box Display size was included in InDesign 2022 release.
This option can be found in the Preferences dialog > User Interface Scaling.
The size can be increased in 4 increments from Small to Large.

CC Libraries and data merge
Please enable @datafields to work with asset names in CC libraries or at least open up the CC Libraries to scripting the way normal Libraries are. I have client assets spread over several libraries and the ability to add them programatically on/after a datamerge in some way would be invaluable.

Save All and Close All
Add a 'Save All' and 'Close All' to the File menu. Photoshop and other Adobe software have had this since the '90s, so why doesn't InDesign? It's inefficient to click on dozens of documents one at a time in order to save them and/or save and close them. Please emulate Photoshop as the ideal example.

Continuous tables with a secondary header
Where tables with assigned headers and footers need to continue to have headers and footers on subsequent pages when threading, the actual header text is rarely used for any part of the table but the first page of it. Why is there not an option for a secondary header for continued tables? Keep it the same style for the headers, but allow it to be set and editable. It is such a common need, and publication designers are forced to use an inefficient workaround. Please add this "secondary header" option when creating table headers and footers. Thank you.

Ability to create interactive PDF forms in InDesign
Ability to create interactive PDF forms in InDesign with all fields available as Acrobat Pro and be able to live test the form and make changes within InDesign rather than having to export the PDF each time to test the form.
I make forms for clients and it gets very annoying when I set up hundreds of fields in InDesign and finalise a form and a client sees a typo so I have to go back in InDesign and make the fix and then re-export the file and add other fields again to it.
Would also like a feature with it where you can convert any frame or table column or row into a form field. So that way you have field info in one column and the column on the right to it has boxes that can be highlighted and converted into form fields and they stay looking like a table.

Index - import topics
To be able to import file as a starting point to creating an index.
For example – I have a huge index to create and a seperate file with a list of all the individual entries (not a made up index, just a basic file with a list item on a new line). I want to be able to iport this document into the index panel and create topics from each item. As now I have to copy each item create a new entry paste then create it.

Shading for character styles
I love using the shading for whole paragraph styles, but it would be nice to have shading for character styles as well. This would be nice for "highlighter" effects, which you just want to highlight a few lines or words. Just like applying an underline or strikethrough, but with a little more control over color, padding, maybe even shape?

Allow InCopy to be edited remotely by 3rd Parties (eg clients)
We prepare large copy-heavy documents for our clients using InDesign and InCopy. However, our clients are not technically minded and do not have access (or the technical ability) to the Adobe software needed to open such documents and provide edits/comments.
We therefore have to cut/paste the InCopy into a Microsoft Word document and send this, so that the client can edit/change/comment as necessary. They then return the Word file to us, and we re-link or re-copy the changes back into InCopy.
Unfortunately, during this process we often lose the formatting and pagenation, increasing the time it takes for the edits to be made, and increasing the chances of other mistakes being made.
We would love to see a mechanism by which we could allow the editing of InCopy documents online by non-Adobe customers so that all editing is contained within the Adobe workflow.
Ideally, we could send our clients a link which allows them to open the InCopy document, read and review it (perhaps even track changes), provide comment, and then save it for our acceptance. It would be good too if they could print the unformatted document out to read on paper.

Artifacting Master Page Items—accessibility
Within the past year, Adobe InDesign changed the way it handles items on a master page when the file is exported to accessible PDF.
We used to be able to control each MP item and designate whether it was artifacted or kept live and tagged in the PDF reading orders. BUT, in recent versions of InDesign, EVERYTHING on the MP is automatically artifacted and we have no control over this.
This fowls up workflows where some MP items must be kept live, tagged, and in the PDF's reading order, such as the project I'm working (series of fact sheets for a university) where the organization's name and contact into is repeated (hence, on a master page) and needs to be kept live and tagged (not artifacted).
Give us back our control! Although most MP items should be artifacted, it's not ALL MAP items should be artifacted. Let us keep some items tagged and control their reading order in the PDF.
"Releasing" the items from the MP when I'm on the document page isn't the solution; it defeats the reason why we have MP in the first place.
And fixing the problem after the PDF is made isn't a solution, either.
Solution:
1) In each Master Page's options, give us a checkbox option to artifact everything on that MP or not, and
2) Give us back our "granular" control to artifact frames (Object Export Options) and text (Artifact in Export Tag settings).Within the past year, Adobe InDesign changed the way it handles items on a master page when the file is exported to accessible PDF.

Assign paragraph style depending on odd/even page
It would be nice to assign a paragraph style automatically depending on the “value” of a odd or even page? So you can for example make some styles have more margin at the right or left side, depending on odd or even.
Of course you can apply this with different paragraph style, but when a new page appears in the middle of a large document it would be very nice if this can go automatically.

Exclude Pages from Page Count
Please include an option to exclude certain pages of a document from the page count. I work with a lot of proposals that have page counts, but things like covers, table of contents, and tabs do not count. It's hard to keep track of the "counted" pages and having to go in and change the numbering every time I delete or insert a page. It would be great if you could right click on pages and say "exclude from page count" and the page count would continue on the next page.

Update Book panel
Please update the Book files to work more like FrameMaker.
For example, one can group files together, use folders (to treat separate files as one chapter), set the pagination settings separate for each file (start on right, start on next, make page count even, etc.)
InDesign hasn't had any major long document feature updates for some time. (Endnotes doesn't count as a long document feature since they do not currently work for a book. <g>)

Update the new New Document dialog box
- Add the ability to removed saved and recent presets easily—individually and collectively
- Add a preview checkbox (so new users can see the page they are building as in the legacy New Document dialog box)
- Update the way you save a new preset—right now there is a box to type in a new name, but when you click on the Save icon you have to type the name in again.
