  1. Redirect links when file name changes.

Like a website that uses redirection for old pages, it would be nice to have a way to redirect InDesign links to new links. For example, when a file name changes due to a version number, date, or whatever.

the way I imagine it working is leaving a txt file behind with the old asset's name that has the new assets name within it. (maybe there is a better way to do this)

that way, when assets change names, InDesign checks the txt file and looks in the new directory or for the new link before marking it as…

  2. Block Blast: A fun block puzzle game

Block Blast is a colorful block-matching game where you can relax and train your brain every day. Your goal is simple: arrange blocks of all kinds on the 8x8 board to form complete rows or columns to clear the blocks and score points. The more skillfully you arrange them, the more consecutive combos you can achieve, helping your score increase rapidly.

What makes Block Blast so attractive is the combination of strategy and light entertainment. There is no time limit, you can freely calculate every step. Each turn brings a feeling of both challenge and relaxation, suitable for all ages.

  3. Allow for selecting a set of Links for relinking, not just parent link or individual link

    https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/quot-how-may-i-select-multiple-links-for-re-linking/m-p/11682784?page=1#M407985

Looking to perform "Select Multiple Link Replacement”

Right now I can Re Link Parent Link (of ALL Instances) and change 1000 instances of an image.

Right Now I can Relink ONE individual “Child” instance or ONE image at a time.

But I cannot SELECT and RELINK Multiple Selected Links (example: 10 out of the 1000) SELECT instances of an image.

The only way to presently do this is to highlight the 10 instances and then Relink them one by one where a dialogue box opens and requires me to repeat the link process and click OK all 10…

  4. Using Unicode Indic Devnagri Script Font for Automatic Page Numbering & Numbered Lists / Paragraphs,

Hello Team, I am from India, and obviously we have to work majority of the times with Unicode Devnagri Script Fonts, (I prefer to use the Adobe Devnagri Unicode standard fonts )

Then Major problem / issue while using Automatic Page Numbering & Numbered Lists / Paragraphs, is even though we apply the Devanagari script on the Page Number on Master Pages, the auto numbering still shows the ENGLISH Script in the same font, the same goes for the Numbered Lists

And it looks very odd when we have a List Typed in Devnagari script but its numbered in…

  5. New file icons (cc 2018) a step back

Just wanted to bring up something that is hindering my workflow as-of-late - the new file icons for Adobe (using Mac).

I find that the new icons are abrasive visually, but beyond that the function is a bit of a setback. For instance, I used to be able to tell the difference between an .indd file and an .idml file even at the smallest icon size, because there was a distinct difference between the two. Now, however, the difference is so subtle, given that the color/shape of the icons are nearly identical, save a little beveled corner that is indistinguishable…

  6. Option to hide only ruler guides in Normal View Mode

When working with complex layouts and many ruler guides, it can be a bit frustrating to work further with the layout as the guides can block the view.
Also, it would be nice to be able to see the layout without the ruler guides, in Normal View, while still seeing the bleed edge and margins. A cleaner look of the layout without looking without the bleed.

  7. Have a Dropdown arrow in the middle of Control/any Panel in Indesign So when the Mouse is Hoverd/Clicked on it The Menu/Options show up

I like the Properties Panel idea And Hiding the Control Bars on top to maybe look less daunting to newcomers but What if It has a DropDown arrow. A small panel tucked inside on top of Indesign while having a dropdown arrow in the middle so when the mouse is clicked/hovered on top it falls down occupying the same amt of space. Can also be used on every other Panel the Right one as well. Just Hover the Mouse to the extreme Right and the Panel shows up and when not more viewing space for the file. I m not…

  8. Alphabetize Print Presets

When I create print presets they are in order of the first one created to the last. I have many and it makes it difficult to find the one I am looking for. If they automatically sorted alphabetically that would make my life so much easier!

  9. Open maximised documents as NO Tabs...

...AND retain menu bar + all tools...
(We can browse open pages with ctrl + ` - tabs are not needed!)
It could help spare some place we're loosing for unneeded, visible all the time, tabs now.

Similar problem - menu bar is so big... :/ It takes space, too. Couldn't be thinner? :/

Plz take a look at screenshot...

  10. Parametric style.

Parametric style. What does it mean? In the description of the style, we have an additional field "Depends on", in which we indicate the Name of the selected Template. Now the same style will get different settings on different pages. For example, the alignment of the text in the block on the left pages will be on the left edge, and on the right - on the right.
If the brochure has different sections, the same style of headings and subheadings can have different colors. Example: the "cheese" section has yellow headings, and the "cherry" section has red headings. And…

  11. Mark layers as visible in the exported PDF but non-printing from within InDesign export settings

PDFs have the ability to mark layers as non-printing, so that they appear visible on the screen but don't print to hard copy. I'm using this capability to add a light raster background to all pages of a workbook for students, which adds a bit of warm color to the on-screen viewing experience, but I don't want this background to use up all their toner if they decide to print the pages. Similarly, the entire workbook has page numbers, but the worksheets should print without the page numbers, because they're not relevant outside the context of the book.

    I found…

  12. Hold Alt when dragging from Bridge/Explorer/Finder to pop the 'Import options' dialogue for that file placement

QoL improvement - would allow you to skip using the menu interface when you just want to set PDFs/AI to include bleed or not - or when you want a specific page or layer from a paginated or layer file type.

  13. Better printing options

Since Publisher is being discontinued by microsoft I have switched to indesign looking for a replacement. I am loving many of the features but it is VERY difficult to print from indesign myself. I literally have to click into 3 windows and a separate drop-down to make sure my files are printing the right direction, on the right size paper, and if I need a flip, flipping the right direction. Also, There is no preview option, I especially miss the preview option in publisher where I can lower the opacity and see what the front and back flipped pages…

  14. Export Package needed this badly

When i package my files, i only get to package fonts that were installed in my com however, if i were to use any adobe font, zero trail in package document font folder. This will cost people time telling the printer or marketing side, hey its adobe font that's why its not in the package file. Or worst whoever take over the project on a new com, have to wait till they open up the file, and indesign or illustrator says hey your font missing. Blah blah blah.

Solution: What if you guys create a file that have adobe font…

  15. Ability to apply color to some or all of the individual style names in paragraph/character style palettes.

It would be so great to be able to apply color to some or all of the individual style names in paragraph/character style palettes, the way we can in the drop-down tool palettes.

The InDesign interface is terribly small (compared to Illustrator or Photoshop) and even my special computer glasses -- in conjunction with a 43-inch monitor -- are unable to compensate. There are times when I have 30-50 styles for large projects but use particular ones consistently over the others. I have a very hard time picking these out without stopping to stare, get close, examine the palette --…

  16. Cleaner Workspace Option

When working in InDesign, if I click on the Paragraph Styles tab, it opens to the left and covers part of the workspace and scroll bar. If you look at the image supplied, the Properties Tab shows all the options in one place clearly, and it is out of the way.

Could we have a setting where, when one selects a tab, it opens into a right side panel and does not extend over or into the work space. That will also help when resizing the window.

this enhancement will help avoid closing tabs all the time, (unless one chooses…

  17. Allowing 2-automatic page numbers/per page.

I work on proposals and we are usually limited to the number of pages within the document. It is often stated, that when we use an 11x17 page, this page counts as two pages in the proposal. It would be an amazing new feature if you could set up the option to have an additional automatic page number for these cases. Perhaps you could have an option to insert a second automatic page number on the master, or a feature that skips a number, starting the next 8.5x11 spread on the proper page number after counting the 11x17 as…

  18. PLEASE allow the removal of the background color on embeds

It seems kind of silly to not have that kind of control when this is a design program. Also, I second the comment here to remove the Adobe watermark on the embed. It makes the embed look unprofessional, like someone didn't pay for their account. It reflects poorly on the designer / owner of the website, who is not at fault.

  19. Transparent strokes with subtracting option

I'd like to be able to apply transparent strokes to overlapping objects, so they create an empty space between each other. This feature would be super useful for creating photo collages where background prevents you from using solid colour strokes (like black or white). It will also allow you to create clean and consistent looking space between overlapping objects.

  20. Document info in Indesign hyperlinks

I am implementing a sort of voting system for articles in a magazine (readers can vote wether or not they like an article). This means I have to implement 3 (more if I want a more detailed system) links per article. It would be handy to be able to use document info in the links so I can use this as parameters. Things like "Filename" "Pagenumber" "Section name" would really make this process a lot easier. I could create one set of links with these "parameters" and copy it to any section/Page/document and none of the links would have to…
