Long, NOT complicated, password requirements
Can you please stop asking me to write password with ridiculously complicate rules to try and make them more secure?! What's more is you force people to use something they have never used before as a password every time it gets re-set. What you have to remember is that REAL PEOPLE with REAL WORKING BRAINS need to be able to actually REMEMBER their password. Rather than spending 10-15 minutes every time they need to login to an application/ server re-setting their password because they can't remember it, how about you just make them use a long, random collection of words,…

Add a feature that allows you to predefine paragraph style spacing based on which style comes before or after it
I have set up some paragraph styles in my InDesign document that have space-before and space-after set on them. Some of the styles are for headers. When the headers precede a regular paragraph, I want the space to be there, but when they precede another header, I want there to be less space. In web development, I can write rules in CSS that say things like this:
p { margin-top:10px; }
h2 + p { margin-top:5px }I am able to make the margin-top narrower on a <p> tag that is immediately preceded by an <h2> tag, but otherwise, it's…

User Dictionary specifications for some languages
Unlike English, where the declension of nouns in cases is made using prepositions, there are many languages in which the declension is made according to other rules, for example, by changing part of the word itself.
For these languages, we add the same word to the dictionary dozens of times, but many words are built and changed according to the same rules. (Russian, Ukrainian, Byelorussian and many Eastern-European languages).
Here is an example (not complete) for two Ukrainian words ("dissertation" and "compilation").

Text Frame Row Rule Options
It would be brilliant to have this feature added in the Text Frame Options in order to be able to add a number of rows (and its attributes) along with the number of colums.

Scale stroke proportionaly in object-based rule il liquid layout
The stroke doesn't scale when changing page size either manually or with the page tool in object-based rule in the liquid layout. It does work in scale rule. It would be great if there was an option to choose between scaling the stroke or not.

Make Table preview faster
Complex tables are REALLY low to preview in InDesign. I have a table 45 rows by 7 columns, and if I nudge it, it takes 5 seconds to preview. Then I nudge again... another 5 seconds. This SLOW table preview has been happening on all kinds of documents, for years. Please speed it up.

More powerful use of Conditional Text
Conditional text is a great tool, but limited. It could be used to apply formatting to text that would survive the "clear overrides" of para or char styles.
I can see that conditional formatting that changed the text itself could be difficult to implement (such as font size, applying italics, small caps, no break, no hyphenation...) but if it could do that, it could prove very handy to giving a persistent formatting "style" that would not be affected by clearing overrides.
Also: Sometimes highlighting or underlining is not appropriate. I'd like a flag in the margin that marks the beginning…

Apply more than one cell style to a cell
With more complex tables, such as those for financial reports, the number of cell styles required becomes very slow to work with.
This is because you may want one column in one colour, another in a different colour, but then a row stroke cuts across all the columns.
At the moment, InDesign only allows you to have one cell style applied per cell. This means that when you've styled your table using one cell style, e.g. a colour, when you then add the other cell style for a row stroke, it will override the first cell style.
You then…

horizontal table flow in text boxes
Right now, if you have a table that has more rows than the text box can handle vertically, the table will auto-flow into a new/threaded text box, or another column within the text box. It would be really helpful if tables could the same thing horizontally.
For example, let's say you set up a table with 3 rows, first with images, a second with item numbers, and a third with descriptions. Each column for this set up is an inch wide, and you have 30 items that each need their own column, but you want it to fill an…

Help page gives incorrect information regarding PageMaker file conversion
Searched InDesign support for "pagemaker file conversion"
The top article (dated March 2017) is titled "Convert QuarkXPress and PageMaker documents to InDesign". Here's the address of this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/converting-quarkxpress-pagemaker-documents.html This article is part of the "InDesign CC User Guide." In the right hand column, it says it applies to InDesign CC. The first sentence in the Pagemaker section is "InDesign can convert document and template files from Adobe PageMaker 6.0 and later." It proceeds to give directions. I have come to find out that these instructions cannot be followed in InDesign CC, but only in InDesign CS6. This resulted…3 votes -
Paragraph rule will not appear on top of anchored objects
Currently an applied paragraph rule will not appear on top of an anchored object in a text box. According to one of the Adobe experts this is a default of the program.
Our catalogue has a country heading line of type followed by an outline of the country. The graphic of the country is embedded. Visually it appears underneath the subsequent text two or three lines of type.
The paragraph rule at the end of these two or three lines of type unfortunately appears underneath the image even though the text appears on top of the image. I would like…

Highlight text
While I know this can be achieved by creating a thick rule and offsetting it just right, the ability to highlight text with 1 click (like the underline button) would be a time saver.

Footnotes and problems
With footnotes all more or less normal, when they are applied in the simplest form. Problems begin when they need to be applied in a multi-column layout using "span all" headers. Footnotes begin to be ungrouped - before the headings, at the bottom of the pages, and the most incomprehensible - if the footnote is contained in the title, it will open not at the bottom of the page, but directly under the heading!
1 voteHi Viacheslav, this issue is now resolved with the latest version of InDesign. You may want to download InDesign CC 2017 or above. This issue should be resolved in it.
Please post here if it doesn’t work. Thanks

Use Image in Paragraph Style
It would be nice and super useful to have the ability to use images instead of solid colors in paragraph styles. for example:
image as text character color (like clipping), image as paragraph shading background, border image, rule image, image as the bullet, etc.4 votes -
Specify subheader in addition to header, body (with alternating fills) and footer
I would like the ability to have a sub-header style applied to a table style. I design tables with a title (or header), an area for the column topics (or sub-header), and then a body with alternating fills, and a footer without a fill. It would be great to be able to apply one table style that will incorporate all of those styles. See the included table as an example of what I am trying to do.

Paragraph style — Bullets Same as text Color option
When creating a bullet style in paragraph styles, could there be an option to have the bullet character the same color as the text color?
Similar to the paragraph rule options.
I know create character styles for this, and it is still a good feature, but you need to create multiple bullet styles if your page has a dark background.
I hope my explanation makes sense.

a better way to make texts on circle or other form path (spline) for pictogrammes
when you have to do it but make a way to have it the most editable way because you have to make it to a lot of different languages. Maybe be a more efficient way with rules on path to automatically inverse it and center it on the center of the path and maybe an option to what part of the text is on one side and what part is on another actually if i do it correctly you often need two path one for top one for bottom part of circular text and when you whant to change one…

Ability to adjust opacity of guides - rows and columns
Users should be able to adjust the opacity of guides, enabling greater emphasis to be given to chosen elements. For example a rectangle frame tool can stand out more than the rows and columns used, otherwise it is very messy and impossible to sometimes use both at the same time.

Correction in Dictionary Criteria for Hyphens (Portuguese)
Most of hyphenation in Portuguese splits sylables from two consonants in a row (r-r, s-s Ex: 'car-ro', 'profis-são'), but this is not true for nasal sounds formed with the letter H (lh, nh) and I see myself having to review this hyphenation constantly. For example, the correct hyphenation is 'traba-lho', but inDesign usually hyphenates 'trabal-ho' (which is incorrect). It is a simple addition to the program that could save a lot of reviewing time.
There are some other issues too.
Could you please check that out and review the hyphenation rules as of grammar? Portuguese has quite a bit of…1 vote
