Export PDF causes unresponsiveness when clicking "same as Document Name" box and changing the filename manually
InDesign freezes and becomes unresponsive when...
Using the latest version of InDesign 14.0.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and exporting a press ready PDF (setting modified to include bleed and crop marks), checking "Using InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename" and then adding some text or changing the filename manually in the save dialog, InDesign freezes afterwards. The PDF is exported successfully, but the program locks up.
When not checking the box and exporting a PDF there are no problems.

have to choose export folder every time
In CC2019 and before, Indesign seemed to remember, in which folder it was exporting last. So when I was in Job A, it would offer me Folder A to begin with. When I was in Job B, it would offer mit Folder B to begin with.
In CC2020 (under 10.15.1) it seems Indesign shows the last folder I was woring in. So when I am in Job A an chose Folder A by hand, then close the job and open Job B, When exporting the file would be saved in folder A. Which is quite annoying to be honest. I…

I am experiencing exactly this issue (see link below).
I don't understand how you have ignored so many user requests and done nothing about this issue in nearly 7 years!

Undo reverts to last save
I'm using InDesign 2021 version 16.1, macOS version. Recently (maybe since the last update) it lost the regular undo ability. Instead of undoing by steps, it undoes all steps since the last save.
It is similar to the issue reported with InDesign 2020 (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38991835-undo-not-working-properly-in-indesign-2020), but the bug persists in the current version even though it is reported as 'Fixed' in that thread.
This happens every time when using Undo (Command-Z). It reverts to the last saved state. In the case that a document has been saved multiple times, it appears each press of Undo goes back…

Your decision to demand reactivation of a working program AND THEN NOT ALLOW THE REACTIVATION TO TAKE PLACE is reprehensible.
Your technical rep called the CS3 suite an "end of life" product but it wasn't; it was enjoying a productive middle age until you put a bullet through its head. "End of life" should mean when new operating systems won't support it, not when you arbitrarily decide to kill it. I purchased that program outright and at significant cost, and you just stole it from me. I've always admired Adobe products but everyone involved with your business models should be ashamed of themselves. I plan to make my case against you LOUDLY on social media and in any other way…

The Application frame need many clicks before it wants to move.
I have to click about 5-10-20 times on the Application Frame of InDesign CC 2018 to make it move. I tried to click on different places and it still the same problem. Sometimes it works on the first clic, but more often i have to click many times. I'm on Mac OS 10.11.6, InDesign 13.1. I had the problem on the trial version, i called Adobe Technical service, and they told me to update when my licence will be activated... but it is now, i'm on the last version, and i still have the same problem.

Conditional texts applied to wrong parts when exported to an idml
- Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: v17.4.1 x64
2.Steps to reproduce the issues:
Export an Indesign file with conditional text settings as an idml file and open the idml file in the InDesign application.Expected result
Conditional text settings are applied to the same paragraphs and texts as the InDesign file from which the idml was exported.Actual result
Conditional text settings are applied to unexpected paragraphs and texts! Seems like this only happens when one or more of the condition is displayed and does not happens when all the conditions are hidden...

Border style bottom is being applied twice to the same text.
This is a message for all the adobe indesign programmers, before adding new features can you at least fix all the bugs in this program!
I use the border feature a lot but lately it's been bugger than usual. I have a piece of text that has a border right and bottom. Under it I have another piece of text with the same settings and both have merge borders turned on. Please look at screenshot and tell him what the **** is going on! There is only 2 blocks of text but it's giving me 4 borders!

indesign not printing
I recently upgraded to Mojave. I have the Adobe Creative Suite Premium and a Canon ip3500. Printing from the internet and PDF work fine. Illustrator CC 2019 and InDesign CC 2019 won't print directly from the app. I find it silly and inefficient to save a document as a PDF for printing. What happened and how do I fix it?
When I send the file to print, the printer goes through the motion but all I get is a super faint outline of the art. The image is a solid fill of 100% black. The printout is a 20% outline of…

Previous version’s book files not saving
Using InDesign 2022 Prerelease (17.0.0.96).
When I opened my Book file, created with the current released version (16.4.0.54), in this new version, it wouldn't let me hit ⌘S to save.
It keeps prompting me to save the file anew, as though it had just converted it fresh or created the Book.
The world is not going to stop revolving around its axis over this one, but it was disconcerting and annoying.

Multiple line hyperlinks tab out of order when exported to PDF.
Hi there. For whatever reason, when I have hyperlinks that wrap to a new line in InDesign, Acrobat tabs through them in the reverse order when exported as a PDF. Here is an example:
[Let's say this sentence is a hyperlink that
has wrapped to a new line.]When exported to a PDF, the tab order starts at [has wrapped to a new line.] then tabs to [Let's say this sentence is a hyperlink that]. And it continues that method throughout the piece. This is with tabbing set to document structure. If I set the tabbing method to "row", it…

hyphenation not working properly in English
first, why can't I use a snipping file here? Neither .jpg or .png will work - your site denies these file types.
My hyphenation is really out of whack. If you look at the first line of text, it's crazy that it's wrapping the 1, for WW1 to the next line. If I add the No Break from the Character panel, it moves "World War" down to the second line.

Urgent Bug Report – Inability to Set Save Location for AI-Generated Images
Dear Adobe InDesign Team,
I am writing to report a critical flaw in InDesign’s AI-generated text-to-image functionality that severely disrupts workflow, particularly in collaborative environments.
Currently, InDesign automatically saves AI-generated images to a local drive without giving users the ability to specify a save location. This is completely inconsistent with InDesign’s core functionality, which relies on linked assets rather than embedded files. When working in a team—especially in networked environments where assets are stored on a NAS or shared drive—this oversight makes it impossible to maintain proper file linking. As a result, when multiple designers are collaborating on a document,…

Still not fixed—GREP search fails to find all the matching instances in long documents
An Adobe Indesign CC 2019 (version 14.0.2) file has fewer than 15K characters. A return, followed by the text “ppp”, appears 27 times in the file. They can all be found using the “Text” version of find, searching for “^ppp”. However, using the “GREP” version of find, searching for “\rppp”, only the last one is found. (I am running MacOS Mojave, version 10.14.5 on a MaxBook Pro, retina, 15 inch, mid 2015).
I followed the purported fix found at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/search-issue-in-long-documents.html but with no success.
Indesign files are invalid file types for attaching to this bug post; however I…

Lag due to "corrupt links"
Case Number: ADB-10686986-C0K0
Issue: Performance
The file I am working on is part of a network located book which included 15 separate indesign documents and links to many images. Working on the file last week everything was fine, however this week when I type even a single character there is a tremendous lag (30 seconds to 2 minutes). This has affected every file in the book that I have opened this week so far.
The adobe tech had me create a new file and "move" all the pages to that file. This resolved the lag however it also broke the…1 vote -
[Scripting] Document.findObject() incorrectly targets activeDocument
System: Indesign 18.4, MacOS 13.4.1
To reproduce:
1. Open two documents, each with a filled frame 100% tint.
2. Run attached script "findObject bug.js"
3. Note the console output.
4. Refer to this forum post for notes and commentary.Expected result:
doc.findObject() will return found items from both open documents.Actual result:
doc.findObject() returns only items from active document.Note that using app.findObject() is not a viable workaround in some cases, such as the issue in this post.
