Same issue like here, but posting this again to get a response to this, because the response below that post is a big joke. The admin assumes that the bug report is too stupid to rename an object. But the gif clearly shows that 1. the admin hat the window arranged differently and 2. in the gif with the bug you see the rename window flickering.

I did the work adobe should do and tested it a bit.

The result is different depending on if the windows is floating, docked or expanded. Float and expand works, dock not.

I have this issue on the latest ID version 17.0.1 on multiple macs.

So if it's still not clear: You can't rename an object (although you can rename layers) when the layers panel is docked to the side. The rename "box" appears for a short time and instantly disappears again. This does not happen when the window is expanded or floating!
