Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right text boxes and style sheets are confusing
>>Dear Adobe InDesign Team,
>>Please simplify how users specify left-to-right Western language text boxes and documents versus right-to-left Middle Eastern language text boxes and documents in the multi language version of InDesign.
>>There are no fewer that four places where paragraph direction and language specification appear in various places in the InDesign workspace.
>>Users would benefit from simplification of language-switching tools, because InDesign's interface does not readily expose what language text direction it is using and sometimes switches paragraph direction without users knowing what these international language settings are defaulting to.

Facing-page layouts always have one un-editable page
>>>If you set up facing master pages with a text frame on each, you can only set the text frame as "primary" on one of the pages. That means every other page you create from the master will be un-editable. This defeats much of the purpose of a master page, and provides no benefit.
>>The only semi-workaround is to connect the two frames, but this is not always acceptable. Sometimes it is necessary to keep the stories separate.

A problem about converting right-to-left text to the newest version
>>Hello,
…
> I have been using Indesign v18.5 and created a lot of documents for a book in Hebrew and Arabic.
> My paragraph styles have the property "Character Direction: Default" which, of course, organized my text as RTL for Hebrew and Arabic, and LTR for English text.
> After converting the documents to the newest version (v19.0), some (and only some) of the punctuation marks (such as ".", "!", "?") and even some of the spaces, were placed in a wrong manner: to the right side of the text, instead of being placed to the left of the1 vote -
"Same" font sizes, but they're not
>>>In the most recent version of indesign, when I copy or duplicate a text box, the font size says it's the same, but it is about 2-3 points bigger. Even after eyedorpping the previous style, it doesn't change. I have to manually make a new text box, recreate the font details before copying and pasting it into the box.

Accessible alt text for hyperlinks needs to be supported by scripting
>>With InDesign scripting, it's possible to search for "searchTerms" from one column of a tab-delimited file, then set corresponding hyperlinks from another column. This means I can set hundreds of hyperlinks in just a few minutes. However, it remains impossible to set the hyperlink's alt text with a script — that function isn't scriptable. So either I ignore this important accessibility requirement (not an option), or I still have to manually edit each hyperlink, one at a time, wasting many hours and introducing the possibility of errors on each one.

InDesign 2021 crashes when opening some panels
>>>For example, I select some text and click to open the Hyperlinks panel. ID crashes straight away.
>>Or I select an anchored object, right click to select Anchored Object > Options. The panel comes up with 'Inline' selected and then I click on 'Above Line'. It crashes straight away.
>>I've had a similar problem working in tables, when I right click to delete a row, it crashes immediately.
>>I've had to go back to 2020 to be able to work on some of my documents.

Colours not previewing when changing Paragraph rules and text colours
>>>When changing the colour of text or paragraph rules in my document, the colours are not changing on the page - they are still showing as white, even though both rules and titles have been changed to orange.
>>If I drag the text block off the page to the bleed/slug area, the correct colour change can be seen. When I export the pages to PDF the colour is also showing up correctly, yet I can’t see them when working in the document. See screen shot below.

Hot Keying the Text Tool has been broken for 2020 versions
>>>The hot key for the Text tool is broken. I've tried the steps of resetting preferences the issue still persists - ever since the 2020 updates, hot keying to the text tool is broken. The tool is selected for a mini second before going back to the selection tool or other previous tool - there are plenty of mentions on this site with very little feedback on if the issue is going to be fixed - please give the community an update.

Indesign CC2018 crashes on Cmd-V
>>>I'm working on my masters and using a Split Window to copy and paste text from the same document into a list of references. Cmd-V crashes Indesign. With no warning, or hang, it literally shows me the desktop, no save, nothing. Thankfully auto recover sorts it out, but this is something Adobe needs to look at. I can't tell if there is anything special about the text other than it was a web link and had a paragraph style.

Adding htmlItem then closing document crashes inDesign on Mac
>>We are developping a plugin for inDesign and while testing a new feature on a Mac we noticed that sometimes InDesign was crashing. We managed to reproduce this bug in a very simple indesign script that make inDesign crash 100% of the time and I'm looking for a way to get around this inDesign bug.
>>The crash occurs when we programatically add an htmlItem to a pageItem then close the document too quicky, It's only on Mac, doing that on windows works perfectly. The crash error seems to be a memory usage problem on inDesign's side.

Sinhala text render issue
>>>When typing or copying texts in Sinhala unicode font, the output is rendered incorrectly. For instance, "ෙ + ට +ා" must be rendered as "ටො" but in indesign it is rendered as "ටො". It does not create any difference by changing the keystroke pattern. "ෙ + ට +ා", "ට + ෙ + ා", "ෙ + ා + ට" renders the same output. I tried changing renderer to "World-ready paragraph renderer" but nothing changed in rendering.

Weird Bug with Resize to Frame
>>>Resize frame to content messes up and I'm not sure if it's something to do with a setting I have set since this doesn't always happen.
>>Basically, I'll have a frame around some content with text in it.
>>When I hit "resize frame to content" ctrl-alt-c, it resizes the frame to the full document width, which looks like the example.
>>I obviously expect the frame to resize to the content, not to be super wide like the entire document.
