integrate adobe express templates in software.
Adobe Express is an amazing online platform with tons of inspiration and templates. Being able to use existing templates as a prompt designer in inDesign (and other Adobe Software) would be a game changer to speed up production time during slumps.

Optical margin
Optical margin behaves oddly in InDesign 19.0. I've attached a screen recording showing this behavior:
This is a file that had been created in a previous version of ID—probably 13 or so—and has handled migration to subsequent versions gracefully. However, when I opened it in 19 and attempted to edit some text, the optical margin in that paragraph behaves strangely, turning itself off on certain lines.
Deactivating and reactivating optical margin does not correct it. Some adjustment is made, but not enough.
I haven't been able to reproduce this behavior in text blocks created in 19, so it appears to…

Logical bug: font weight change to bold and back
System: ID version 17.4.2 on Windows 10.
Problem: some fonts have weights like "Light", next to Regular and Bold. If a text is set to weight Light and you change to Bold by Ctrl+Shift+B, the text becomes bold. When changing it back, it doesn't become Light, but Regular. The logic would be to check if there is a paragraph style applied and what's its default weight and use this when "unbolding".2 votes -
Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - For Hebrew Text, after applying Forced line break -The character direction changes to Left-to-right direction.
When typing a paragraph in Hebrew there is a problem when doing Forced line break. The character direction become Left-to-right direction, insted of keeping the Right-to-left direction.

Imported PDF comments on graphics transferred to text on page
- InDesign 19.0
- Add Acrobat comments to placed Illustrator graphics in an exported PDF, then import the PDF to PDF Comments in the source InDesign document.
- One would expect a warning dialog or just unmapped comments in InDesign.
- Instead, InDesign tries to map the comments elsewhere on the page.
- Screenshot shows the example I encountered with strikethrough markup. Instead of the % signs in the graphic, InDesign wants me to delete random letters and spaces in the text.

High Cpu Usage indesign 2021-2022-2023-2024 versions...
Hello, unfortunately I have this problem too, it constantly uses 30% of the processor when idle, I tried everything, but the problem is completely related to the new indesign versions. Adobe has not made a fix on this issue yet, when will you fix it, Adobe?
I never experienced this problem in old versions. This problem is valid for 2021-2022-2023-2024 versions.
I tested by installing all Indesign versions on my computer and found that the only problematic versions were versions 2021 and above.
From the attached images, you can see the CPU usage of the 2020 version and the 2021…

HarfBuzz introduced in v2024 is not honouring the spacings properly
Harfbaaz text engine is not taking care of spacings properly specially when using Arabic or Urdu script. Files attached before and after. Without harfbaaz, settings look more natural. On tweaking the settings further does not make much difference.

Links appears OK but doesn't work when exporting in pdf
Using Indesign 2023 18.0 on macOs Ventura 13.6
I have my portfolio file correctly packed and well organized, everytime i open my idml file to make modifications, the link panel appears all OK but i cannot export because of this same links.
I found a solution is to re-import every files one by one, but i cannot do this anymore, it's too long and this need to be fixed.

[ID-4244288]Problem with Variable fonts - some glyphs are displayed with a lighter weight on changing axes.
Some variable fonts works as expected, but for some, the font displays at a lighter weight (perhaps regular?) when the weight is set for anything heavier than about 750. It appears that the heavier weight's metrics are used.
In my my limited test, the weight prints properly.
I'm on a 27-inch, iMac 2020, Mac OS 13.5.1, InD 19.

open file multiple times
19.0
InDesign will open the same file multiple times. In the past, if you have a file open and accidentally double-click the file in the finder to open that same file, it'll just open the window that is already open. In the 19.0 update, it'll open multiple versions of the same file (only if the file is from a version pre 19.0 – pre-converted), which can create issues if changes are made to one file (and they aren't updated in the other). Version control nightmare!1 vote -
Keyboard Right and Left arrow same as Up and Down Arrow
InDesign version 19.0 x64 English תומך עברית
The Keyboard Right arrow is moving the curser one line up, and the Keyboard Left arrow is moving the curse on line down, instaed of moving the curser right or left.
The keyboard shortcuts are showing the correct behavior, but in fact it's incorrect.3 votes -
Variable Font (Source Sans 3) some Characters not available
macOS Ventura 13.5.2 (22G91), InDesign 19.0
Since the update to Indesign 2024 (or version 19.0), some letters can no longer be selected in bold or black for the variable version of the font "Source Sans 3". When adjusting the slider, they become thinner again (instead of thicker) from a weight of 600. It affects e.g. the small a, e and l, but not the i, s... etc. they are also not displayed in the glyphs. With font weights below 600 (up to and including semibold) everything works fine (variable and with font weights). This applies to both the TT-version (download)…5 votes -
Indesign 18.5 on MAC 13.5.2_conflicting fonts
Why am I getting different results than the clients pdf?
Using same fonts as client. The word IMPACT REPORT is different when I export it.
The clients font is Gotham Bold but when I open the Indesign, the font shows up as Gotham Distress even though I don't have that font in my Document font folder.

accessibility export to pdf worked before in 18.5 its now broken in v19
Working in v19 with an exsiting file and when exporting to PDF it lists dozens of problems in the accessibility check which did not happen previously.
Gone back to version 18.5 which works fine with exactly the same file.4 votes -
update to v24
For as long as I can remember, dating back to the early single-digit versions of Adobe products, it was advised to make separate backups of user settings that were often found in obscure directories on a user's own computer. I dared to trust Adobe this time around, hoping that the update to version 24 of InDesign and its option to delete old versions, would respect the user settings that I so painfully put together. FAIL. Adobe failed to maintain them and deleted them from existence. Adobe should be putting a disclaimer on their update process to prompt users of all…

Pick an other page in a link
It would be great, when importing a file with several pages, to be able to quickly choose another page of the linked file in the links panel, without having to re-import the file.
