1. Endnotes and multi-language layers

   InDesign CC 13.1

   As a long-time user of ID, I want to report what looks to me like a serious bug.

   Working on a multi-language book project for the first time since the endnotes feature was introduced, I noticed that when importing the second language on a separate layer (as I have been doing for many years without any problems) the endnotes are imported with correct references in the text but the notes themselves lose their numbers, showing the dreaded <?> instead.
   Trying to work around the problem using David Blatner's DTP tools' "import layers" feature gives the same result.
   It is my experience that the Introduction of the second language with its notes also jumbles up the arrangement of the notes of the first language (which were alright to begin with).

   Since we are making books in simultaneously published language editions all the time, the possibility to combine the use of both endnotes and layers is crucial. Now, in the middle of the project I had to revert to the old ways with separate files for separate languages, which is a pain as you can imagine.

   I would even settle for forgoing the assets of the endnotes function and working with "dead" endnotes—as I have been doing for so many years—in order to regain the benefit of using layers, but, unfortunately, this version of ID does not allow me to import the notes as normal text.

2. [ID-4219708]export book to pdf slows the mouse respond

   Every time, when I export whole book into PDF file, my mouse starts to move with steps. Everything else is working more or less normally, but moving cursor is almost impossible.

   Cursors respond with huge lag - around 1 sec, and moves in steps, what makes impossible to use the mouse.

3. Stops letting me type

   I'm using InDesign 2018 and I will have my cursor in a text box and be typing when the program will stop letting me enter new text. The only way to continue entering text is to tab out of the program and back in. I have no idea what step lead to this issue.

4. Can't delete InDesign color swatch

   Documents inherit a swatch from a picked-up file and the swatch can not be deleted.

   1) This problem has existed for us since at least InDesign CS4 and persists through the current CC 2018 build (13.1).

   2) In the attached file, "Select All Unused" in the Swatches panel. There is no content at all in the file. All objects have been deleted, as have all text and object styles. Try to delete the unused process color swatch, "C=80 M=76 Y=70 K=73."

   3) We expect the unused swatch to be deleted.

   4) Trash can icon in Swatches panel is grayed out and unselectable.

   We have tried renaming the swatch, creating an identical swatch in Illustrator, placing and deleting both .ai and .eps files and merging the swatch with other swatches.

   This issue is also present in other legacy files with different swatches.

5. Open Recent numbering goes from 1 to 9, then 0 and then repeats 1 to 9, 0.

   When selecting File > Open Recent, and there are more than 9 items (I have it set to 20), the items are listed numerically from 1 to 9 and then 0. Then it repeats 1-9, 0. One would expect 1-9, 10, 11, 12, 13, etc.

   Obviously not a showstopper, but just something to fix.

6. character panel and control panel don't match

   I've noticed sometimes when changing the font in one panel, the other does not reflect the change—they should always be in sync. The change does not occur on the document either—until both panels are manually made to match. So it appears 'Character' settings in the Control Panel are behaving independent of the floating Character Panel. These are mac installed fonts. Not Typekit.

9. alt text issues

   I'm trying to apply alt text to vector objects and some elements in a table manually in indesign. The "object export options" window isn't allowing me to change the alt text source to custom or anything else besides structure and I am unable to edit/add anything in regards to alt text. I've tested it on other text and images/elements within the document and still run into the same issue.

   I'm having a difficult time trying to create an accessible tagged PDF due to this issue and many of the tutorials or help documents are outdated for CC capabilities. Any help or updated resource would be appreciated - thanks!

10. locked into program

    While working in InDesign, I have to right click anywhere in the window to be able to access anything else on my computer. It's like it doesn't want me working in any other program except InDesign so it's trapping me. This has been a problem since pretty much the first day I started using creative cloud. There are 6 other people in my office that have never had this problem and we all use the same version of InDesign.

11. If Paragraph Format uses Shade, only the first line is underlined (instead of all) (Layer Problem!)

    Its not a suggestion, its a bug.
    Under Indesign 13.1, when e.g. a whole page is styled to have a gray shade behind it, and some paragraphs have to be undelined, then ALWAYS the Line before a hard return does not show the underline, because I suppose a layer problem occurs. Indesign seems to see the text on top, then applies the shade and under that the underlining for the text, which won't be shown then. The descenders are shown normally, since they are on top in the text layer. I have not found a way to tell the underline to be the same layer as the text it underlines and from my point of view this seems to be a bug, which should be fixable (and should be fixed).

12. InDesign 2018 crashing when I go to linked endnote text

    I'm working with linked endnotes in InDesign 2018 (version 13.1), but my file originated in InDesign 2015 (I skipped 2017). I have already saved the document as an InDesign 2018 file but seem to be having problems importing a document with linked endnotes.

    I'm starting with an old InDesign file because I'm working on volume 2 of a multi-book series and want to maintain all my old styles. I don't know if that's relevant, but I have worked successfully placing linked endnotes from word in previous books already. In this one, the endnote references appear to have links but when I click on "Go to Endnote Text" from the reference point, my document crashes. When I try to add an endnote point, my document also crashes. I think the endnotes exist somewhere because there is a paragraph style and a few character styles that I can't seem to find in the document but apparently exist somewhere.

    I don't actually know if this problem is an issue with the original Word document or with InDesign but I'm really hoping this issue can be resolved before I have to import the other chapters in this book.

13. Rollover images "stick" in Interactive PDF

    Hi, I am working on the document that contains multiple rollovers. All of them "stick" at one point or another, the images will change to "rollover" state but not to the normal state when hovering off. This is very confusing for the end-users. Please see attached pdf. I am using InDesign CC 2018.

    We have concluded our investigation into the issue. As per our findings, the bug belongs to Acrobat and there is little that can be done at InDesign’s end.

    We have already notified the concerned team, internally and they would be working on the same.

14. BUG: Changes aren't tracked for bottom-right table cell

    The last cell in a table is a “dead” cell as far as Track Changes is concerned. If you copy cells from another row and paste them in the last table row, if the selection you are pasting into contains the last cell in the table, the pasted text will not be marked as a change. Likewise, inserting a new row in a table as the last row via drag and drop isn’t marked as an insertion at all. Inserting a new column in a table as the last column via drag and drop is tracked as an insertion for each cell in the column, except for the bottom cell.

    I recognize that there are some limitations with Track Changes in tables, but the Track Changes feature should work consistently whether or not the bottom-right cell of the table is selected.

15. Place .ai file indesign loses layers!

    Idea? This is a bug. I followed bug link...
    Placing .ai file into indesign cc preview is perfect until release. Shows random white spots &yellow.
    Renamed file. Same problem. The red is in new layer above the diamond. Normal layer with several overlays. Turned off overlays and same. Why is it that normal layer allows white through? Just when you think you’re an intermediate this happens.
    Red low quality diamond is illustrator.
    The rest is self explanatory assuming the other two files uploaded. One was import dialog box for placing with shift. Everything looks fine until I place it.

16. Fullscreen Application Frame Under Menu Bar

    When opening the program, occasionally the top bar of the interface is under the menu bar. Being as that also contains the portion of the interface used for moving the whole window, I must change my System Settings to hide the menu bar to move it back down. This also happens in a couple other CC programs as well.

17. Embedded images in InDesign are not printing and only preview in Typical Display Mode.

    Need assisistance on MAC OS 10.13.4 running CC Version 13.1 InDesign will not print embedded images. It prints grey boxed with the X though it.
    Will only preview in Typical Display mode but not on High Quality Resolution.
    Please assist asap.

18. Hand Tool/Help Menu Shortcuts Mixed Up

    In their default states, the Hand Tool and Help menu options are bound to H and F1 respectively, but pressing H during normal use of the program consistently uses Help instead of the Hand tool.

    Removing the F1 shortcut from the Help menu fixes this issue. I've experienced it in other areas, and I assume this solution will work for those as well.

19. Indesign freeze my iMac when launching

    I can't launch InDesign. It just freeze my entire computer and I am forced to restart the iMac. Any idea?

20. InDesign fails to launch

    I cannot start InDesign on my Windows 10 notebook even though the rest of the Adobe apps work relatively well. On my main PC it runs without any problems. I tried re-installing the software, but it didn't help.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
