2. [ID-4224415]Accessibility Tags order to match in InDesign and PDF

   Accessibility tag tree is not matching as per InDesign XML tag structure. We are doing more manual work to re-arrange the tag tree as per PDF view in Acrobat. We need to fix this bug in InDesign and match the tag tree as per InDesign tag structure for the accessibility PDF.

3. Horizontal lines appear on a regular basis

   Horizontal lines appear on a regular basis. Very frustrating. They appear when I scroll up or down, generally when zoomed in. I have to clear them with 'Hide Guides' keys (Command, semicolon key).

   Also, the 'Hide Guide’ feature is flaky when using the short cut command. The guides will not remain in the 'Show Guide'I mode. I then have to use the menu to activate.

4. Font list scrolling performance is laggy even on loaded M1 Max laptop

   When slowly scrolling through my font list with a text box active on the page, the scrolling is laggy. It halts regularly.
   When scrolling fast, there is no problem.

   I guess the slowness has to do with the preview function when text is active.

   Preferred solutions would be
   1) better performance
   2) only preview when you click the font or
   3) provide a setting to turn previewing on the page off.
   
   I don't have an extreme number of fonts, and I use FontExplorerX to manage my fonts.
   I would expect this to be a fluent experience on a 32Gb RAM M1 Max 16 core laptop. Thanks for a fix.

5. Some text in tables is shifted to the right after the PDF export

   After the PDF export, some texts in the table cells were shifted to the right in the PDF file. The texts are not correctly positioned one below the other. The values of the deviations from the correct position are up to 0.5 point, but different.
   I tested it in InDesign CC 2018, 2020 and 2021.
   The problem occurs if "Create Tagged PDF" is not activated in the PDF export options and metric kerning is selected. I've tried different fonts.
   The PDF file with the suffix "High Quality Print" was created with the job options "High Quality Print" ("Create Tagged PDF" is active here), everything fits here.
   The PDF file with the suffix "Press Quality" was created with the job options "Press Quality" ("Create Tagged PDF" is not active here), texts have been shifted here.

6. Latest Indesign Slowdown on M1 Chip

   I am on the Macbook M1 Air with 16.2 and still experiencing random slowdowns when editing text, moving images, all the basic functions of InDesign.

   I have removed all Adobe CC apps, removed all plugins, used a cleaner. I am now running the latest clean Silicon version of InDesign and experiencing the same issues.

   I turned off GPU enhancements as folks recommended, which helped, but it still shows the beachball from time to time whenever I try a simple task.

7. [ID-4239165]InDesign fails to open or place files with long paths in Windows

   InDesign fails to open or place files with long paths in Windows. The "Long Paths Enabled" registry setting is enabled (i.e. it is set to 1). The problem affects several functions:

   1. From Bridge, Place > In Indesign causes "Script Alert: Error: Expected a reference to an existing File/Folder"

   2. DataMerge in InDesign: images with long paths are skipped, i.e. aren't merged. There is no error message.

   3. From InDesign. I cannot manually place a file with a long path through the “Place” dialog box. The dialog box will display the folder and thumbnails, but when I click the image to place it, I get the following error: “The file could not be opened. You may not have permission or the file may be in use by another application.”

   All of these symptoms suggests that InDesign does not support Long Paths in Windows.

   InDesign 2021 16.2.1 x64
   Windows 10 Home 64-bit

8. search and replace clipboard contents

   I cannot do a document-wide search and replace with clipboard-contents (formatted), when using Change All. When I attempt to replace any text with the clipboard-contents (GREP: ~c), it goes through the document, seemingly highlighting and replacing the text, but doesn't in fact change anything. It works when I do the exact search and replace string, but only using Find-and-change, and not when using Change All. Going through each instance (500+) one-by-one would take ages. Please fix the document-wide, Change All search-and-replace with clipboard-contents (formatted).

9. PLEASE do not close this yet: Hyperlink alt text is ignored in the latest version of Indesign

   While Ravi Kiran and Dax Castro consider this closed, my US government contact does not. I need all the hard work I put into placing this hyperlink alt text into InDesign to come across into the OBVIOUS place in the PDF. Why is that such a hard ask? It seems like it could be in both places. Buried where my client cannot find it and where they can see it easily. Please reconsider. Thank you.

10. Files change to 'Read Only' when I click on 'Save'

    When I have updated to 16.2.1 x64 of InDesign I am experiencing an issue where files are becoming 'read only' once I have clicked save manually. I then have to re-save the document as a new filename and then go back and delete the original. It is happening when I am using Dropbox. I have experienced this using Dropbox at home and in work and has only started to happen once I have clicked 'save' manually with the latest version of InDesign

11. Paragraph borders and shading

    Corner size and shape arrows don't work. You have to manually type in a value. I thought that in doing so it would activate the arrows but no.

12. InDesign does not remember window size and position

    When opening a document, InDesign should remember the window size and position when it was closed. Illustrator does this, Photoshop does, this BUT NOT INDESIGN!! Why? Please fix it.

13. Create Merged Document causes Indesign to hang and crash

    1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: Adobe InDesign 2021 v16.4 macOS Big Sur 11.6
    2. Steps to reproduce the issues: Select Data Source in Data Merge panel options Assign data placement field in document's master page Click "Create Merged Document..." in Data Merge panel options
    3. Expected result: InDesign should insert data from selected source document and create new pages for all records.
    4. Actual result: Source document is imported correctly, and preview in Data Merge panel displays correct data, but when I click "Create Merged Document..." in Data Merge panel options it cause Indesign to hang, the application stops responding and I need to Force Quit. 14. Drop Shadow is Very Buggy Within the App for Text

    The drop shadow effect is very buggy in the editor and has been for quite some time. I just dealt with it for the longest time but it seriously slows down production when I'm constantly having to "fix" it by making a change to the text then Undoing it (i.e. delete a character, then press Command+Z). The bug happens when Drop Shadow is applied to text and you scroll down the page a bit. The attached images show the before and after. If I scroll down the page after "fixing" it, it just re-bugs out. I work with white text so drop shadow is imperative for me to see the text against the white background of the page. Please fix this, it's been an issue for quite some time now, and apparently after looking through the forum it's not just with text either. Drop Shadow seems to be very buggy all around, which sucks because it's a fairly common effect that people use. Please help!

16. Home Welcome Screen Blank After Update on all Apps

    After the recent set of updates, Indesign does not show the welcome screen. When i try to create a new document (CNTRL+N, File>New>Document) the app hangs and i have to restart the app. I am able to open existing files, but not create new ones. Worked around the problem by selecting "Use Legacy New Document Dialog", but i would like to get my home/Welcome screen back.

    OS: Windows 10
    Indesign Version: 17.1

    PS: having the same issue on Ilustrator and Photoshop, although those two apps dont hang

18. Cannot open file up. You may not have permission or the document may already be open.

    I wish Adobe would fix the issue cannot openn file up. You may not have permission or the document may already be open so people like me don't have to rename the file that wouldn't open up or change the location where the file is saved at all.

20. AdobeFnt.lst automatically reappears after deleting

    InDesign version: 15.0.2

    Suddenly (after the latest March 2020 InDesign update?) the AdobeFont.lst file created with InDesign packages automatically shows up with folder structure after deleting a package. This is really aggravating for file management. It's as if my team can't fully delete InDesign packages. This is happening with multiple InDesign files on multiple machines.
