Hebrew Vowel Points Incorrectly Positioned
When keying (or importing) Hebrew text, InDesign often misplaces vowel points when two or more vowel points are attached to a single base character unless the base character and vowel points are keyed in a specific order. I don't totally understand it, but it has something to do with Unicode normalization. Microsoft Word gets around this problem, but I can't say how. It would be nice, however, if InDesign could get around it, too.
One Hebrew font, SBL Hebrew, has written Unicode features (?) to prevent the normalization problem, but most fonts cannot do this on their own in InDesign.…

InDesign 2020 Middle Eastern, Arabic language causes reversed numbers order
When working with Arabic and wanting to have Roman Digits, one needs to choose the "Arabic" digits option.
More option that should be set for Arabic are:
Character direction should be set to "default"
Paragraph direction should be set to "Right to Left"
Paragraph composer should be set to "Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer"
Language should be set to "Arabic"
Ligatures should be "On"BUT
If I type a date that suppose to be presented like this:
9/1/2020
as soon as selecting "Arabic" for language the order is reversed to this:
2020/1/9As digits has a built in Left to Right…

Buttons losing functionality when updating Table of Contents
When you have a graphic or textbox and its converted to a button its lossing functionality when updating the Table of Contents.
Apply go to Destination to the button and pick the text anchor it jumps too, when you update the Table of Contents the drop down list jumps back to the top link in the list. So it loses functionality.
I found the same thing to happen when you choose show/hide buttons. It clears out what you have picked for showing what buttons you want on the page, it sets them to the normal icon.
This is very frustrating.…

Stroke Drawing Order not working
InDesign 2019 on MacOS 10.13.6
Steps to reproduce
Define table stroke using the proxy in the Control panel (see screenshot) and try to change the Stroke Drawing Order.Expected result
Stroke Drawing Order "Row Strokes In Front" should be as selected in "Table Options"Actual result
Row Strokes are not in front. All strokes which are altered using the control panel options remain unchanged.
If a new table is setup using only the menu options (Cell Options > Strokes And Fills) everything works fine.8 votesIn the Table Setup dialog, do the following:
In the Row Strokes section (2nd tab), choose Alternating Pattern : Every Other Row and then make the First 1 Rows and Next 1 Rows the exact same settings.
In the Column Strokes section (3rd tab), choose Alternating Pattern: Every Other Column and then make the First 1 Columns and Next 1 Columns the exact same settings.
In the Table Setup section (1st tab), you can set the Table Border as 0mm and Stroke Drawing Order as ‘Row Strokes in Front’.
Most probably this should help you get the results you are after. Try this out and let us know if it helps.

typekit fonts missing but return when InDesign is restarted twice
InDesign CC 13.1 x64
This bug happens every time I open an InDesign file that has a typekit font (any typekit font)
The typekit font will show as active in my Creative Cloud assets panel. The expected result would be for the file to open with the fonts synced.
Actual result: InDesign tells me that the fonts are not synced. The only way to fix it is to close and open the entire program twice.
The third time the file is opened in the program, InDesign will show that the fonts are synced.

Cursor spins and text display lags while typing
ISSUE: While typing, text display will freeze/lag, and the cursor will change to a loading icon for about 2 seconds, then the text will finally appear all at once after the loading icon changes back to a regular cursor. This happens while typing in a regular text box.
EXPECTED RESULT: I expect text to appear on screen immediately as I press the key on the keyboard, not after a 2 second lag.
Version: InDesign CC 13.0 x64

Ignore All not working in spell check
When using the spell check, the "Ignore All" feature no longer appears to work. When spell checking a long document this is a pain and it's really easy to miss something that is actually wrong.
This seems to be a fairly recent thing as it did used to work. Using the latest version of InDesign.

Please update to the latest version of InDesign (v 14.0.1), available via Creative Cloud Desktop app.We thank you for your support.

"Visual Cursor Movement" not working in Arabic in ID 19/19.01
On previous versions of ID with Arabic support, I could press left arrow to move cursor left, right arrow to move right. In versions 19 and 19.01, the cursor goes to the beginning or next line of Arabic text. So I have to select 'Logical Cursor Movement' under settings but now cursor move the opposite way: left arrow moves cursor right.

InDesign should apply variating substitutions from rclt
Variable fonts may contain location-dependent substitutions, but the
rvrn
feature runs too early for many real-world substitutions. The solution in font-making land has been to use therclt
orrlig
features instead, but at least the former is not supported by InDesign. This is a major headache for e.g. Arabic.Technical discussion about this at

text typed on path distorts when converted to outlines
Using InDesign v17.2.1, text typed on a path becomes distorted when converted to outlines. As you'll see in the attached before/after images, the converted text is mostly okay, but the last few words become almost illegibly small. The characters also become reoriented relative to the path ... some characters are vertical, others upside-down. I've tried changing fonts, creating new documents, and typing on paths of different shapes, but the problem persists. I was hoping that this problem would be addressed in the latest update, but it wasn't.

Index entries lost when importing a .docx file with text frames into InDesign
InDesign version: CC 2018
MS Word version: 2013When I import a .docx file that uses text boxes/text frames/shapes into InDesign, most of the index entries within the .docx file is lost. When I import the same .docx file after removing all the shapes, all index entries remain intact.
I've attached reference .docx and .indd files so that you can see what I mean. The .docx file (loremipsumindex.docx) has five index entries, that are lost when imported to InDesign (loremipsumindex.indd). On removing the text box from the .docx file (loremipsumindexwotxtbox.docx), the…7 votes -
