Adobe Fonts not activating
When I need to activate a font from Adobe Fonts directly from Find Font context menu inside InDesign, it keeps loading indefinitely but never actually activates.
The only solution is going to Adobe Fonts web page and activate it there.
Screenshot attached.

Arabic Diacritics move to unwanted places if you use an Index Marker in the same line
Adobe InDesign CC 14.0 (Middle Eastern version -- English يدعم العربية)
a. Type this Arabic text: شَيْء غريب
b. Create new Index entry for the second word: غريب
The Diacritics should stay as they were.
Diacritic of the second letter (يْ) goes somewhere else.

Placed ICML files do not appear in the Assignments panel
Placed InCopy ICML files should appear in the Assignments panel. They do not. This is under InDesign CC2018.1.
The only step needed to reproduce this is to create an InCopy file. Save it and then place in InDesign.

Some text in tables is shifted to the right after the PDF export
After the PDF export, some texts in the table cells were shifted to the right in the PDF file. The texts are not correctly positioned one below the other. The values of the deviations from the correct position are up to 0.5 point, but different.
I tested it in InDesign CC 2018, 2020 and 2021.
The problem occurs if "Create Tagged PDF" is not activated in the PDF export options and metric kerning is selected. I've tried different fonts.
The PDF file with the suffix "High Quality Print" was created with the job options "High Quality Print" ("Create Tagged PDF"…10 votes -
hyphenation error
When hyphenating a word like 'Groot-Brittanië' the hyphenated word shows two dashes which of course is not accurate.

Use Auto-Sizing and Text Wrap Frame on causes application crash
Environment: InDesign 2020 (15.0.2 Japanese version) + macOS (confirmed with 10.15.3 and 10.14.6)
- create and connect two text frames
- set Auto-Sizing "Height and Width" on Text Frame Options
- Insert text into two frames full
- overlay graphic frames with Text Wrap settings ON
- move the graphic frame appropriately (drawing is not normal at this point)
- close documents with Command + W
During this operation, you will usually be asked to confirm the save, but suddenly InDesign will end and the application will crash.
Also, if you try while overwriting with Command + S without Command + W, you may not be…10 votesHi

Invisible character
Apply all Auto Edits inserts an invisible character before which then interferes with Find and Replace. When pasted into a GREP search, it looks like ~I, but can't be found. It can be manually removed, but this is not helpful, as I need to be able to perform a comprehensive Find/Replace.

Tab controls are buggy. InDesign CC 2018
When using the Tabs control dialogue box all sorts of problems begin to manifest. First, as you are working with the tabs controls page elements go sideways. Text overlaps, sometimes entire paragraphs preceding the area you are working in.
On occasion, the tabs simply don't line up to where you assign them, even when you do so numerically. (See screenshot)
Settings for paragraph styles take precedence over tabs settings (even though tabs traditionally were the opposite, taking precedence.)

Multi-character input from Indic keyboards failing
Tested in InDesign 2023 18.5.1 and 2024 19.1, on Mac OS Ventura 13.4
Several Indic keyboard layouts include keys that input a sequence of more than one character as a shortcut for typing the common –ra,, r–, or other syllabic forms that Unicode encodes as a sequence of multiple characters. So, for example, the Mac Sinhala keyboard assigns the following multi-character sequences to individual keys:
[`] = ්ර (rakārānsaya, U+0DCA U+200D U+0DBB)
[Shift]+[`] = ර් (repaya, U+0DBB U+0DCA U+200D)
[Shift]+[H] = ්ය (yansaya, U+0DCA U+200D U+0DBA)
But in InDesign only the first character of each sequence is input, the second…

Table header line (below) disappears half when editing text in InCopy
We encounter an unusual behavior with table lines.
When an editor edits text in InCopy and saves the changes, half of the line below the table’s headers disappears. See screenshots “Before” (expected result) and “After” (actual result) the editing. The structure of these particular tables is quite complex.
We use Adobe InDesign/InCopy, version 15.1.3 x64, in combination with the WoodWing Studio Editorial System.

BUG: Small Caps not applied correctly to Variable Text with World-ready Composer
Using Adobe Indesign 19.3 on MacOS 14.4, Apple M1.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Make new document.
2. Define a text variable "Test" with custom text "Handgloves".
3. Insert variable in text frame.
4. Set the composer for that paragraph to "World-ready..."
5. Set the paragraph in Small Caps
6. Try different fonts.Expected result: small caps.
Actual Result: only first two characters are changed to small caps. Typing characters after the variable placeholder changes how many characters are changed to small caps. See attached video.
Workaround is to change the paragraph to a non World-ready composer.

Fully justified Arabic text drops the final period of paragraph when kashidas are on
In InDesign 19.00 and 19.01, if you set Arabic text to justify with last line aligned right and kashidas turned on, the final period of the paragraph drops from PDF output. This seems to happen only in RTL scripts; I can't recreate it in Latin script. Thread with details:
I've uploaded a PDF showing the missing periods, but when attempting to upload the corresponding INDD file, I get an error dialog claiming that "the following files are not supported and have been removed". Same is true if I zip it before attempting to upload... and I can't find a…

Hebrew Vowel Points Incorrectly Positioned
When keying (or importing) Hebrew text, InDesign often misplaces vowel points when two or more vowel points are attached to a single base character unless the base character and vowel points are keyed in a specific order. I don't totally understand it, but it has something to do with Unicode normalization. Microsoft Word gets around this problem, but I can't say how. It would be nice, however, if InDesign could get around it, too.
One Hebrew font, SBL Hebrew, has written Unicode features (?) to prevent the normalization problem, but most fonts cannot do this on their own in InDesign.…
