1. Remove the floating "help with a feature items"

   I wanted to share some feedback regarding a recent usability issue I’ve experienced across several Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.

   In recent updates, each of these programs has introduced tool-specific pop-up panels or hints that appear when a tool is selected. While I understand the intent is to offer helpful tips or highlight features, these pop-ups are consistently disruptive to my workflow. They frequently appear directly over the content I'm working on and are difficult to reposition. Even when I move them off the canvas, they often reset to their original (obstructive) location whenever I switch tools—requiring repeated effort to move them out of the way.

   The attached screenshot shows an example from this morning—I've had to move the pop-up off-canvas at least ten times in a single session, only to have it return again and again.

   Rather than floating over the workspace, a less intrusive solution might be to dock or slide these panels out from the tool selector on the left-hand side of the screen. That way, users can reference them when needed without them interfering with active work.

   While I appreciate feature enhancements, this particular change has negatively impacted my efficiency, and I’d love to see an option to reposition them more permanently.

2. Add "Unmap All" to Map Tags to Styles

   In the Map Tags to Styles popup panel, please supply a "unmap all tags" button. Sometimes we use the tags to prestyle text, but then apply manual overrides, and want to retain the manual overrides when importing new XML. We currently have to manually remove all mapped styles from the tags before doing that, which can be very tedious when working on large numbers of documents.

3. Clearer comment navigation in share for review

   click on a comment and have the comments panel scroll to the comment clicked, make the active comment highlight more visible and don't unmap comments when the text is deleted but delete the comments with the text.

4. Bullet lists: add option for custom spacing of first and last entries

   In a paragraph style defined as a bullet list, you often need to have more space BEFORE THE FIRST item or AFTER THE LAST item. This is possible in CSS and would just need a couple of extra fields added to the "Bullets and Numbering" section in the "Paragraph Style" panel.

   The only option now is to create additional styles or to use overrides.

   Use the Indents and Spacing section of the Paragraph Style dialog to specify Space Before and Space After. Use the option “Space Between Paragraphs Using Same Style” to specify the space between the bulleted list items.

   For example, if Space Before is 6 pt, Space After is 8 pt, and Space Between is 0 pt, the bulleted list will have 6 pt before the 1st item, 8 pt after the last item and in between the bulleted list items, space will be 0 pt.

5. Please make the reflect tool work the same way as in illustrator!

   It works completely opposite of Illustrator which makes it super confusing if you're switching between them (i.e. to do the same transformation, you have to use a horizontal reflection in indesign and a vertical one in illustrator.) A preview like in illustrator would be great too.

6. A new Switch tool

   Instead of ctrl+c, and ctrl+v, it could be invented a new function that switches existing text from a sentence to another. I would find it particularly useful in tables.
   Ex:
   I would like green apples
   I would like yellow lemons

   Select green, ctrl+whatever, select yellow

   Now I have

   I would like yellow apples
   I would like green lemons

7. Ribbon and tab interface

   I would like to express my desire to have the current menu bar replaced with a Ribbon and tab interface, similar to what is found in Microsoft Office 2016. I believe this new design would significantly enhance efficiency and usability. The Ribbon format organizes commands and tools in a way that is much more intuitive, allowing users to access the functions they need with ease. Instead of navigating through various nested menus, which can often be cumbersome and time-consuming, the Ribbon provides a clear and visual way to find and use features. Overall, I think this change would greatly improve the user experience and streamline workflows.

8. Working with multiple files - When a file is closed, rather than skipping to the last file, got to the next file in order

   Description:

   I have multiple files open at once.

   When finished working on the first, if I close it, InDesign will skip to the last file that was opened, rather the next file in the order.

   See attached - I closed “untitled 1” and it skipped to “untitled 5” rather than going to “untitled 2” which is next in line.

   Why this would be valuable:

   This interrupts an expected workflow to InDesign's usual left to right UI direction.

   InDesign allows users to reorder the file tabs to suit their needs. Skipping to the end file in unexpected behaviour and switching back to the next file in order can be particularly annoying when you have a lot of files open and you need to select the one you want through the dropdown list.

   This has also lead to problems for me in the past when lot of the files look the same, and I've started to edit the wrong file.

9. Add Sticky Notes to Incopy like in Acrobat

   The Layout and the the Editors work pretty close together in our company. The ability for the Editors to correct their text in the Layoutview is a nice thing for both... Layout and Editors. But we really miss the "Sticky Note" Feature known from Acrobat. When the Editors try to communicate, that they want changes being applied to the Design, thats not really possible with Incopy right now. For example, the editors would love to click the sticky note tool, so that they could place it right next to a picture and add their notes. For exmample: "make this one bigger", "Erase this on", "Please take Picture 678 instead", and so on.

   We would really need a sticky note feature.

10. Password requirements / limitation for publish online function

    We are facing an issue, that we have to use a specific password, which the customer define and we have to use for protecting the documents. It's not allowed, to use a different password.

    This password is longer than 20 characters, but you have rules for the password and one of it is defined, that the password has not to be longer than 20 characters.
    That means for us, we cannot share any Adobe files with these customer, which means, that we have to use competitor tools, which allows a password with more than 20 characters...
    Would be great, when you can extend the max. character amount to 32 or even more.

11. More controls for exporting form fields to Adobe

    When exporting interactive PDFs, please include functions to (1) toggle on/off the highlighting in Adobe; (2) visually manage tab order without having to close and reopen the panel for each page; and (3) enable Reader users to fill-in forms.

12. Allow key bindings, shorcuts and function changes for mice

    Similar yet from different worlds, AutoCAD is easy to navigate a layout by zooming in and out with the mouse wheel to where the curser is pointed, as well as to pan by clicking and holding the middle mouse button. Is there a way to do this already? However, it seems that InDesign only allows binding of Keyboard shortcuts. Mouse-bindings can further reduce stress and fatigue when working on documents for extended periods of (Coming from a Civil Drafter of 7yrs). It can also improve the speed of work completed by allowing the user to more fully tailor the InDesign experience to their style.

    Side note - using Esc to de-select tools (or default back to the select tool) would be super handy also, hahah (but I don't want to override any other command that Esc has in the program)

13. Making imported PDF edit more obvious in InDesign and fixing delays with mouse clicks

    As a book designer who works with many long manuscripts, I do appreciate being able to import PDF edits into InDesign. That is a great new feature in the last few versions.

    However, some edits are just too hard to spot in a spread. One can easily spot highlighted text (such as when the editors mark a phrase for deletion or replacement). But when the editors insert or delete commas and periods or choose a spot where they want to add new text, there is nothing obvious -- beyond a skinny, nearly invisible cursor -- to draw the eye. The thin cursor can be impossible to spot quickly within a page spread (the fact that it blinks doesn't seem to help), and when one works with books that are 200, 300, 400 pages and more, stopping to search every spread for a barely visible cursor, often multiple times in the same spread, becomes a major headache.

    Currently, I am unable to use the PDF import feature in InDesign without also having the same PDF document open for reference in Acrobat on my second monitor. Working back and forth slows me down, but it is only way I can quickly and confidently find the comma, period, and text insertion edits. Acrobat draws a bold, colored box around each area commented and makes the edit very obvious. This would be such a great feature to add to InDesign.

    Another headache that results from being forced to use both Acrobat and InDesign to ensure I spot all the edits comes when switching back and forth between the two. When one clicks on a comment in Acrobat, that program hesitates a beat before responding, which is annoying enough. But it is worse with InDesign. If you've hopped over to Acrobat and then come back to InDesign, you have to click twice on InDesign's PDF panel before the program will take you to the selected edit.

    I've used this two-program editing method with a great many books so far and still it does not come naturally to click twice on the PDF panel in InDesign, and the need to do so is a constant aggravation. This is nonintuitive in a major way.

    Together, the delays involved in all this back and forth are a huge inconvenience and would perhaps not even be necessary if InDesign somehow called out the edit/insertion points the same way Acrobat does, with a bold box drawn around them. At least one could spot the edits quickly and perhaps would not even have to have Acrobat open at all.

    But when the two programs do still have to be used in concert, it would be great if they each didn't delay in their response to the mouse click.

    So, please consider making these two improvements -- 1) add something like a box or other call out to imported PDF edits in InDesign, especially the small insertion points for commas and periods and 2) do something about the delayed response to mouse clicks in both Acrobat Comments and InDesign PDF Panel when switching back and forth between the two.

    At the very least, could you please consider making imported PDF edits MUCH MORE OBVIOUS in InDesign?

14. Distribute Width

    I have two frames side by side, but this is relevant to not just frames. I would like to distribute the widths of these two so that they are both equal width but the total combined width is still the same, and they stay positioned as they are. I thought this would be in the align tools but I have tried many different combinations and cannot achieve this. I have used distribute widths in other programs (MS Word) and it saves so much time not having to manually calculate the widths every time and is of course less error prone. This is of course the simplest possible example, consider if this needs to be done for many objects not just two.

15. Text and Hyperlinks - Tag a Hyperlink visually

    The ability to see if a word is hyperlinked on a page with several hyperlinks visually, like you can with an anchor item. There is no way to see if a word is hyperlinked unless you open the Hyperlink panel and go thru the list of all the hyperlinked items on that page. Is there a way to create a visual cue like if the word was misspelled or something like that to quickly know what words are hyperlinked on a page. More of a visual cue to know quickly and also if you hover over the hyperlink, like an ALT text where it shows the actual hyperlink address.

16. Embed file option while placing the image in the page

    Many-a-times after placing a Image, we need to Embed that as we don't want that to stay connected to the source.
    That's why what we want is that before placing a Image, there should be a Link/Embed Option as there is in Illustrator so that I do not have to manually go to Links Panel and Embed it from there for every single Image. It will faster the work process

17. Share for review - Select range

    Hi, Loving the share for review feature, makes the proofing process so much easier, thanks adobe!

    Really missing one feature thouh,: our documents often have alternate layouts, and we'd like to have an option for reviewing just one layout at a time, same as the feature in the publish online-tool. Please add.

18. Scroll Bar Access

    Panels should not overlap the page vertical scroll bar. Instead they should snap on right side of the pasteboard [Offset the width of the scrollbar] allowing access to the scrollbar. saving you have to close panels

19. Swatch-panner [mark] if colors are added with ink management

    If the colors are edited with [ink management]
    than it would be helpful if you can see it in the swatch-panel
    (Like the FullColor-marking behind the swatch)

    Make [ink management]-setting a PDF-export-setting (in LowRes for example)

20. Please restore the "Paragraph styles: Edit All Export Tags" option to Keyboard Shortcuts

    Possible to restore the "Paragraph styles: Edit All Export Tags" option to Keyboard Shortcuts? It is not present in InDesign 2025.
    Would be so much easier than opening that command through the Paragraph Styles panel each time.
