AI agent for remembering text content style
I often work with instruction manuals that have been poorly translated, and I need to reword them so they read clearly and professionally. A lot of the content is similar across different jobs, and I’d like to stay consistent with how I’ve written things in the past without having to dig through old files manually.
It would be great if InDesign had an AI agent that could:
Learn my style and remember my text preferences (e.g. whether I use “kg” or “KG”).
Automatically reference past projects so I don’t have to copy/paste from older manuals and allow me to ask…

3 new features for web address problems - a major problem in modern textual books
In textual books there now can be hundreds of web addresses used within the text and references. There is a major problem with them in the fact that in justified text they can cause:
(a) widely spaced lines
(b) InDesign can insert discretionary hyphens to try to split the address to make the word spacing better (which means that when printed the web address would be wrong for the reader as it has hyphens that shouldn't be there). The only workaround at the moment for this is to remove the discretionary hyphens by either hitting a return in its place,…

Keeping some formatting when linking unformatted tables from excel
It would be great to have an option similar to typographer's quotes, when linking unformatted tables to excel. An option with a preference checklist to allow superscript, subscript, underline, strikethrough, alignment, etc. while still removing fonts, size, etc. especially the superscript/subscript is crucial when dealing with excel, so it could also just be a tick box for this like with typographers quote.

Include bit depth (8/16/32 bits per channel) as an item to be included in the Links panel (or at least in the Info panel).
I know that bit depth is included in XMP File Info but as this panel is modal (and overly high) it is tedious to fetch this information from there. It would be convenient to have both in Links and Info panels. Possibly these panels could be updated with other useful data, too,. This is useful as HDR is becoming increasingly popular, and while PDFs can include 32-bit images, I'd imagine they are problematic in press.

LINKED TEXT BOXES - SEPARATE CONTENT FROM STYLES FORMATTING
CONTENT NEEDS TO FLOW THROUGH LINKED TEXT BOXES AS THE BOXES ARE RESIZED, OR CONTENT IS EDITED. EACH LINKED TEXT BOX SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A STYLE APPLIED TO THE BOX. RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO SELECT THE TEXT AND APPLY FORMATTING. BUT IF THE CONTENT FLOWS DIFFERENTLY, THIS HAS TO BE RE-DONE. PLEASE MAKE IT SO THAT WE CAN CLICK ON A TEXT BOX AND CHANGE THE STYLE JUST FOR THE TEXT BOX, AND WHATEVER CONTENT HAPPENS TO FLOW INTO IT. CASES WHERE THIS MAKES A LOT OF SENSE: YOU MIGHT HAVE CONTENT FLOWING ONTO DIFFERENT…

Cross-references in other documents after HTML export
description
If cross-references are made to another document in InDesign and then an HTML is exported, the linking in the HTML does not work - an empty a href is inserted without a target. It would be great if the link to the other document worked after exporting both documents as HTML.why is this important to you?
We are a company that creates digital learning books. Many of these books are created in InDesign for the print version and then sent to us as HTML. We then prepare these for our app. If this were done automatically during…

InDesign needs to be able to work with files that are 100% cloud-based
Our company has moved all of our files to BOX (cloud-based). InDesign's links do not recognize URL so it defaults to our local drive.
We had to reach out to a company called Silicon Publishing and purchase a connector (plugin/extension) to deal with all the links that need to be cloud based (a true URL path).
Why had Adobe not addressed this and why are we having to purchase plugins to make the software work correctly?

Allow a "consolidate" type of packaging that doesn't create new copies
The ability to take the current working document and consolidate copies of links and document fonts around the existing document, rather than create an additional copy of the INDD working file. Using the Package feature for files in progress that are simply being moved between workstations is problematic because you have to remember to delete the "old" version that was just packaged. I would like a way to make 100% sure that everything I need for the existing file is organized within one master folder, without having to embed all the links or manually delete duplicate INDD files.

Allow Share for Review Comments to be Printed or Exported
I can't believe you can't print or export comments created during a Shared Review. I had a reviewer ask for her comments to keep as a record for the next round of document updates and there is NO FEATURE in the browser, or InDesign that will allow those comments to be printed, PDF'd, or exported (so I could import them into a PDF for permanent archival).
This is a HUGE missing feature.
My company archives all comments from InDesign's Share for Review and in some cases I've had them disappear entirely.
Adding the ability to print those comments to a…

More than just the single Links folder when packaging.
It would be nice to be able to preserve my file structure when packaging a book. Just separate folders for images, docs, table, etc. There are a lot of files in a 500-600 page technical manual with 50-60 documents/chapters, and it's a pain to sort through when everything gets dropped into a single Links folder.

Online InDesign document for client text edits — like InCopy but online without the need for technical know-how or files to move around
I wish there was a way to post InDesign files online that would easily allow proofreaders, editors, clients or anyone without a lot of technical know-how to log in and make text edits. Freeing up designers from spending countless hours making text edits.
We tried InCopy, but we store files on a shared server and move files up and down through a project management tool. Being able to properly move the InDesign and linked icml files was way too confusing for our writers and proofreaders and out of the question for clients.
When we work on PPT presentations, we…

batch errors delete
I am using pictures with metadata in my document based on a master page with predesigned layout. I need to show this metadata in multiple live captions, but the problem is, when i have a pic without any data in particular caption i get an error in prefligt with unresloved caption variable, which is ok, the link does not contain any data in that field. But i need to get rid of all empty text frames before exporting the document. Any ideas about how to delete them all at once?

Include Page Slug
I often have multiple sizes of graphics inside of one ID document and it would helpful to show the slug when sending a Share for Review link. I currently use the slug to identify and label each page (and size) and it would be nice to have that included for the reviewer to also identify each page/size.
If the slug isn't the best way to accomplish this, it would be great to have a label on the review for the name of each page and size

Sequential frames
Having more options for frames to make them sequential, for instance if I have 20 text frames for 20 files or pages instead of clicking to insert into each frame if we were able to number them or perhaps a checkbox when creating them to create sequential ones, so that when we click the first one it automatically places the following pages or files into the next frames. Kind of like how you link text boxes to continue the text except with the frames.

Improve links palette to include AI file color information
The Indesign Links palette should show the Adobe Illustrator file document color mode so that I can easily verify that art is CMYK without having to open it in Illustrator. Raster images show RGB, CMYK or Grayscale, but AI files currently give no color information. I understand this might be challenging for EPS or PDF files, but AI files have a Document Color Mode that you must be able to parse from the file.

Add color to alpha option for linked images
I would like to be able to set the white background of a black and white UPC png to transparent. Using a clipping path does not work very well with UPCs as it either clips off some of the bars or leaves some white space around the numbers.
I don't see how it would be too difficult to define a color as transparent for a linked graphic to make it not necessary to edit the original graphic.

share for review
It would be really helpful to be able to switch between multiple "share for review" links that are created for one document (ie: client vs. internal) - the same way we can in xd (xd screenshot attached).

Font paths
In the Links pallet, I can see the path to a link; EVEN if it's missing I can see where it was linked from. I would like the same thing for Fonts. In Find/Replace fonts I can only see a path to fonts that are found. I would like a path for Missing fonts, so I know--- were the activated through the Cloud? Or from someone's Font folder (and not properly Packaged). If I know, I can either Activate the fonts from Adobe, or retrieve the fonts from their local hiding place. It would remove the risk…
