Share for Review: Page view instead of Spread View
I am having lots of people reviewing page-oriented instead of spread-oriented documents. (Books, manuals and the like.) Some are asking why they can't view the PDF in Share for Review as a single scrolling page, like in Adobe Reader. I personally don't care, but I have no answer for them. It would be nice, and it seems it would be technically not that difficult, to support single-page view. This would really help people reviewing on a tablet or a phone.

TOC - Update page numbers only
Update page numbers only in TOC (like it is possible in a common Text Processing software) would save a lot of time, as we often insert styling and manual line warps in the TOC for aestetical reasons and have to redo it as TOC has to be refreshed and overwrites everything.
The suggestion in this forum to create Cross-References would also be a nice solution to this problem.

Make Text variables recognise text variables 'from previous page'
At the moment for dictionary-type work, using text variables for running heads gives you the option of showing the first word on the page on left-hand page running heads, and the last word on the page right-hand pages. BUT where the feature lacks is if the left-hand page starts half-way through a paragraph. For example, if the last dictionary word on the right-hand page is 'peanut' but the paragraph goes over to the next left-hand page, you want it to show 'peanut' at the top of this left-hand page as it is a continuation from the previous page…

Table borders when a table runs over more than one page
When a table runs over more than one page, the border at the bottom of the table is missing on every page except the last.
You have to make a cellformat to correct this.
It causes errors and doble work if you forget to remove the cellformat when the pageflow with the table changes.

Zoom to selection is not using enough screen real estate
when using shortcut shift-cmd-= to perform a zoom to selection, the object is being centred, which is good, but the zoom view is too small given that there're just too many spaces being left around the object.
Ideally, when zoom to selection this will snugly fit the object just into the window, which I found an interesting coincidence. Say for example, theres an object thats being set to zoom to selection, and the zoom level of it is 30.7% (and just feel how small the object would look on screen at this level), then you multiply this number by 2,…

Jump to page 1 = just go to first page already
If my document is numbered pages 43 to 59, for example, and I press Command -J and enter "1" for "Go to page:" PLEASE just take me to the first page in the document! Is that too much to ask? ;-)

Home Screen preference switch needed
Preference to disable "Home Screen". Very annoying when no internet connectivity - PS and AI both have this option, why not Indesign?

Reach master page from the page document via ctrl/right click
This is something that’s brilliantly done in Muse, and not so complicate to add as a feature in inDesign, because everything is already there.
When you’re in Muse, in « design mode », you can right/ctrl click anywhere on any page to wether apply a Master or reach the applied master.
In Muse, the « plan mode » (which is inDesign’s pages panel) is usually in another window, complicate to reach, but nonetheless, in inDesign, that could help new users to get what a master page is.
Reason : most of the time, I don’t want to have my …

Add the following features to Buttons and Forms Format menu.
Options: Alignment - Left, Right, Center, and Default Value.
Format: Number, Percentage, Date, Time and Special - Zip Code, Phone Number..
I create a LOT of fillable PDFs and it would save HOURS of time if I could format the fields in InDesign.2 votes -

Re-separating the tool menu
You combined the tool menu in the right panel, but now I have to scroll down to the align section every time I want to adjust something. In InDesign, I'm mostly creating forms or schedules where I realign things constantly. It was more convenient before. Either put align at the top of the panel, or re-separate the panel. I can't drag align to the top of it either. If I could even just reorganize it, it would be better.

visibility of the Colorsetting in menu bar
I often work in different color settings for newspaper printing or offset printing. It seems convenient to me if I can see the current color setting as a notification in the menu bar. Also usefull for other applications as well like Illustrator and Photoshop.

Changing pdf preset should reset page range to 'all'
Unfortunately InDesign remembers page range setting even when changing PDF preset from dropdown list in Export dialog. It would be awesome for page range to reset to 'all' when choosing another PDF export preset. I don't always remember check the range and have to do the pdf file twice. Not the major problem, but a little improvement :)

Allow choice of right or left page to keep when eliminating page from facing pages master
When downsizing from a master with facing pages to a single page, I'd like the choice of which page to keep instead of the default left page.

Fit Tables to Frame
Sometimes you just know how exactly a table should look, so a table that would just fill the frame you just created would just make sense. A way to resize the table without distorting its content or anything else would be a nice improvement to.

Page Numbering "Don't Include in Page Numbering" Option
I use INDD for proposals that include covers and tabs. Right now, it's pretty cumbersome to get the cover and tabs to not be included in the page count. Currently, you have to restart the number at a specific interval based on where the tabs are at and change your cover and tabs pages to include a Section Prefix as to not duplicate page numbers, so it's a little tedious. So my first three pages are called A1 A2 and A3...then 1 2...then B3 (for tab 1)...then 3 4 5 etc. Can we just have a "check box"…

Span Columns -- please allow to control width of individual columns
I posted this same note under a topic called "Uneven columns," thinking it was to do with Span Columns. I realized later that it was referring to text frame columns. I am reposting here; please excuse the redundancy.
I run into this over and over and over again when typesetting business text books. Sometimes bullet items are long and sometimes short. The way columns work now, I'm forced to have some of the longer bullet text break to two lines even though, if i could adjust the column widths and have better control over the gutter, there would be…

Bleed on different size page documents
Allow for documents with different size pages the ability to choose which page has bleed. For example, when creating a document that has a card and envelope in it, choose the card page to have bleed/crop marks and remove bleed/crop marks from the envelope.

Allow Master Pages to be Marked so that Page Numbering Ignores Them
Sometimes my documents have pages that don't count as pages when it comes to page numbering but I can't set exceptions to Master Pages so that they are not included.
I can restart the numbering manually using exiting tools, but the numbers are rendered incorrect if any pages are moved. Having the ability to mark a Master Page as "don't include this page for numbering purposes" would be very useful.
