"Dear developers of InDesign,
Thanks for all the effort you’ve put into making our pagesetting work easier.
For maybe 10 years already I’ve been sending requests for a single function to be implemented, namely:
It is necessary to have table cells containing a very large amount of text splitting between pages (at present a cell is lipped over to a page completely)I’d like to point out that MS Word has had this capability for over 25 years, but it is not a pagesetting application of course. his functionality is very important for setting technical publications where long tables containing most of the publication’s text are frequent.
I’ve started topics devoted to this request at the prerelease forums for CS4 and CS5, than CS6, than CC testing and was told that that would be too expensive. After all those years could it be possible to set aside some funds?
Technical publications are built around tables; it is very important, and as an attempt to find a way out, a script has been developed by the leading Russian professional community, RUDTP http://forum.rudtp.ru/showthread.php?t=47080&p=537664&viewfull=1#post537664
That script kind of provides the functionality of splitting a cell into several page-sized pieces, but the script must be run after completing setting the publication, and any subsequent editing wrecks the publication utterly.
I’m hoping this topic will be noticed this time, not passed over as before. in advance thanks

Thanks for making this request. In order to understand the use-case more better I have a few questions:
1. Whats the role of the different people working collaboratively on the same file. Are they always only designers or are other personas also involved.
2. What is the use-case here, some parts of this request suggest an Editorial collaboration whereas others suggest collaboration amongst different designers. I am trying to separate these 2 requests out.
3. What are the different kind of files (brochures, books, magazines etc) for which this is required.
4. Does it need to be a web based service, or having the user be able to collaborate on one shared file using InDesign or InCopy on the Desktop will work? What is the advantage you feel over a web-service over the desktop app?
5. How do you workaround this need today? What are the most important problems with… -

We have recently started development work on Convert PDF to INDD. Going forward, we will keep adding more functionality and refining it.
The feature is available as a Beta feature in InDesign 19.5 Beta version, available via the CCD app.
Note: For now, it is available only when InDesign's install language is English (North America or International).
Please provide us feedback on this Beta feature. Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

An error occurred while saving the comment George Salnik commentedIs what your backlog says? Are we need to wait some ten years more?
An error occurred while saving the comment George Salnik commented>> PDF2DTP already offers this feature... Couldn't be easier!
No, David - it couldn't. Did you see a price? Did you try it this on complex publications?
It better to use Serif Affinity for such tasks now. Nevermind - we need native feature, not a toys like a payment plugins.George Salnik supported this idea · -
