Preferences: Type: Use of Typographer’s Quote reset to off
- Adobe InDesign 14.0.3
- Create or open a document with Use of Typographer’s Quote checkbox ticked. Copy/Paste text from a document (Word, TextEdit) into the InDesign document. Note that the resetting of the Preferences doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes and I haven't been able to narrow it down to a certain context.
- The pasted text should use Typographer’s Quote according to the Preferences.
- The quotes from that pasted text use straight quotes instead, and when opening the Preferences, the checkbox is now unticked.
Note: I've encountered this bug in previous versions of InDesign from CS5 up to the current version I'm using (14.x).

OpenType mark positioning messed up when using bidi text with Thaana font
The font uses ccmp feature to build dotted glyph from base glyphs.
When a LTR character comes into question, these glyphs are rendered incorrectly.

Error with InDesign (Beta): "Some files required for color management are missing"
Hi, when I start the just-released InDesign (Beta) on Windows ARM, I get the error "Some files required for color management are missing. Please re-install the application to ensure proper functioning".
I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and have used the Creative Cloud Cleaner, but it doesn't resolve the issue. InDesign seems to be running OK even after getting the error, so it's more of a nuisance than anything. I may run into some issues in future with color management though.
- Adobe InDesign (Beta) 19.5 x64 (Mainline CI #09013C9)
- Launch InDesign
- InDesign should start without any errors.
- The error message in the attached screenshot appears.

Character style based running header text variable does not pick up character styles applied by nested line styles
As with Grep styles the text variable character style is not found when it is created using Nested Line Styles. This means I have to use normal nested styles and add end nested style markers into the text. Not ideal or as fully automatic as I would like.

The new Text Wrap is missing all the adjustment options
There are no adjustment options available in the 2024 version of Indesign. There are only preset options that can't be adjusted up or down in size or amount of wrapping.

button value
Broken in 18.3 and 19.5: Non-ASCII text in the "Button Value" field in the "Buttons and Forms" panel fails to export to interactive PDF.
To reproduce this issue:
1) Create a radio button
2) Add non-ASCII text to the "Button Value" field
3) Export to Interactive PDF
4) Look at the mouseover tooltip and see that the Button Value has lost any glyphs beyond U+00FF.I've attached a PDF file demonstrating the issue.

View position moves to center after exiting presentation mode
InDesign: 19.5
Mac Os: 14.5In the newest InDesign update, entering and exiting presentation mode changes the previous view position on the page to the center.
To reproduce: Zoom into any part of spread / page that isn't in the center. Enter presentation mode. Exit presentation mode. The view will now have jumped to the center of the page instead of keeping the previous position in view.

Hebrew Font Issue in inDesign 2024
I'm having an Issue with inDesign 2024, every single release of this version.
The issue is a font that I have, squeezing together some letters, this issue doesn't appear in inDesign 2023, as a result I i'm stuck in that version:
Here's an example of it the first image shows the 2024 version and the second one the 20232 votes -
html footnote
I have the problem that the export of HTML from InDesign CC24 spits out a completely different structure for the footnotes, now the footnotes are a ordered list, even if the lists are output in text during export.

Page navigation counter resets for each chapter
When exporting a reflowable EPUB from InDesign (19.4), the "Page Navigation" checkbox in Export Options → General generates accessible and usable doc-pagebreak markers and corresponding page link entries in a TOC.
The minor issue I'd love to see resolved is that the ID counter of page numbers resets back to 1 with every chapter/file when exporting a .indb Book file, making all page numbers mismatched from Chapter 2 and forward.
Technically, the page links "work" from the TOC because they link to both a unique file and a unique marker within the EPUB. But the page ID#s don't match the actual page numbers that InDesign already knows about from the book file. This creates a huge headache and a mental model mismatch when needing to manually correct EPUB doc-pagebreak markers when pages may have reflowed in the print version, and we've done too much manual adjustment to the EPUB to re-export from InDesign.
See screenshot of existing export results, and note how the #page1, #page2, #page3 IDs reset for each new chapter. Instead, for Chapter 2 in this example, the page ID should continue in sequence (in both the TOC and markers within the text) with #page11, #page12, #page13, etc. so they correctly match with corresponding print pages 11, 12, 13, and so on.

InDesign 2024 19.4 crashes if you apply a Style Pack to multiple selected unthreaded text frames. In previous versions this worked just fine
InDesign 2024 19.4 (Mac M2 Max chip, macOS Ventura 13.6.7) crashes if you apply a Style Pack to multiple selected unthreaded text frames. In previous versions this worked just fine.
2 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

links don't work on exported PDFs when opened in Microsoft Edge
Hi there, so in my work I regularly have to make PDF's that have links and tables of contents. They also need to be printable.
To do this I build them in InDesign and Export as 'Adobe PDF (Print)'. This results in a file that navigates with the view I want with working links and the right colours etc.
BUT not on Microsoft Edge. Its taken quite a while to realise that that links don't work there. They will work in Firefox, Chrome and Acrobat with no trouble. PDF's made in other programs (I only tested Microsoft Word) work fine as well. The problem is very clearly between InDesign and Edge. (Although I confess I've not tested other Adobe programs like Illustrator).
After a LOT of research I've found the cause:
'Fast Web View'When saving a PDF I need to unselect this setting and then everything works as expected. The downside is links open in the same tab but I'll can live with that.
If trying to fix a PDF that is already broken open it in Acrobat then hit crtl+shift+s. From there change 'Save as type' to Adobe PDF Files, Optimised (*.pdf). and select Settings. In settings select Standard in the top left then go down to clean up. In clean-up uncheck 'optimise the PDF for fast web view'. Ta da, problem solved.
So I guess this both is both the ask and the patch. Although I would very much like to know WHY this happens and if its intended or a bug? It seems to be if you're optimising for 'fast web view' you'd expect working links to be part of the mix.

Diagonal Lines no border
Having an issue with using diagonal lines in cell options. I'm wanting to split a cell diagonally with two different colours. The fill works fine as intended but the border isn't working at all. When you zoom right in on the cell it looks fine but when zoomed out it disappears. It also doesn't show up when exported as a PDF as you can see in the screenshot. My workaround has been to duplicate the table on top and then remove the diagonal lines fill, set the fill to none and then the border shows just fine. Not ideal having to add that extra step each time though....

Issue Not Resolved: Cannot Implement and/or Copy Any Review Comments
This was previously mentioned with multiple votes and then marked as resolved by admin. However, multiple comments show that this bug is CRITICAL and NOT FIXED with the latest update.
Share for Review is essentially useless at the moment since there's no way to either A) download the PDF with edits, B) implement a change from the comment, or C) copy and paste the comment from the review panel.
Please fix, these features all work when sharing an exported PDF for review and then importing comments. Absolutely zero excuse that this expensive of a software cannot solve this and then falsely marks as fixed.

When duplicating page(s) the layout breaks
I'm on windows 11.
Since updating to 19.4 i noticed that everytime i duplicate a page it moves my whole layout around. It happens not only if i alt drag the page, also if i right click duplicate and when i made an alternate layout in the page panel. It also doesn't matter if i lock a layer. Everything gets moved a little bit to the right or the left, to the top or bottom. Sometimes it also slightly scales an image i believe. The only thing i can do against it, is copy the whole spread and paste it on a new blank page, but that's really annoying, especially since it doesn't copy it to the different layers it was on.The first screenshot is an example of how it's supposed to look and the second how it ends up looking if i duplicate it.

UI settings greyed out
No one EVER solves this. Those of us who work on TV monitors (for the large size) can never get the panels text (among other things) to scale up so they are legible. This causes great eyestrain and is just terrible, over all. Usually, it is suggested that I change my resolution, but I can't do that, because it would ***** up everything else on my computer, including ID. This problem has been around for about 20 years, and the folks at InDesign don't care. They have never fixed it.

Placed image is partially outside frame
When I place an image and drag a custom size for the placed image, the image is outside of the frame.
Note that this doesn't happen if you simply click when placing, but does happen if you click and drag when placing.
This has just started happening. Usually the image is within the frame.
Video attached.
