  2. Hidden content in pdf export

    Adobe InDesign CC 2017. While exporting the file into a PDF. In the PDF while searching for a word I found some sort of ghost fields (picture ghostfields.png). Then I found out that the problem is caused by graphics that we use internally. There are mostly more than just one graphic in one Illustrator file (picture illustratorfile.png). It is saved as an ai, not eps. InDesign exports the parts of those graphics that are actually not visible in InDesign (picture error2.png). I could not find out why, or how to solve it.   3. Data Merge causes crash/lock-up when displaying panels on second screen

    When displaying my panels on a second monitor using InDesign and then trying to begin a data merge the application crashes and becomes unresponsive.

    If I change the layout of the panels to one screen (the default layout) it works fine.

    I've uninstalled InDesign and reinstalled, also deleting my preferences folders/files.

    I can select the data source and insert one field, but then clicking on anything else after the first field has been inserted causes the application to stop responding.

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

    If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

  4. On the Radar? New character for uppercase "ß" in germany – dont forget to be able to disable auto-"ß" into SS…

    If I use shift+"ß", InDesign changes to "SS" – so far so good. But that got revised 29.7.2017. I hope thats on InD's radar.

  5. BUG Make "Fit Frame to Content" finally work with rotated/skewd content

    1. Version: CS4 and above
    2. Steps: Just rotate/skew a picture within its box and use "FitFrameToContent" and watch the content gets cropped!

  6. InDesign freezing when pressing backspace in a text box of more than 500 or 600 words

    This only seems to be a problem when using long text boxes more than a few hundred words. InDesign starts to slow down while I'm typing, but if I then select text or press backspace (mostly the latter) then InDesign freezes for 10 to 15 seconds.

    I've searched the problem, but the only solution I have found is to try closing the info panel, but this seems to be a CS3 fix and doesn't work.

  7. CC Files in InDesign not showing up

    I shared files using CC Files for teams using my work account, and the sync with my account on my home computer in the user folder/creative cloud files, however they don't show up in the START workspace when I launch InDesign. How do I get these files to show up in the application?

  8. The order of Arabic digits is reversed when changing their character direction

    1. Adobe InDesign CC 2017.1
    2. Create a textbox, type Arabic characters including some digits. Change character direction from 'Default' to 'Right to Left'.
    3. Arabic letters are RTL, but Arabic digits are written LTR; So when you change character direction to RTL, they should be in their right direction.
    4. Letters are RTL, but digits are reversed. The problem is that Arabic script is written RTL, but its digits' direction is LTR. Just like when you move caret and logically it moves in correct direction.

  10. Hyperlinks

    I use a lot of hyperlinks in a document which link to the individual products on our website for online ordering and stock levels.

    The Hyperlink panel frequently corrupts - I lose the ‘traffic light’ link status indicator and location of the link (page No.) - meaning I have to remove InDesign and execute a clean install to get the feature back.

    Adobe in Design is shutting dow. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents. This happened when importing an image cmd D.

  12. InDesign 2026: CMYK objects on the pasteboard display darker with Overprint Preview or Separations Preview Body I am experiencing a displa

    I am experiencing a display issue in InDesign 2026 when using Overprint Preview or Separations Preview.

    CMYK objects placed on the pasteboard (outside the page) become significantly darker, while the same objects displayed inside the page remain correct.

    The same document does not show this issue in InDesign 2025.

    I have tested this issue in multiple versions of InDesign 2026:

    Version 21.4.1.4
    Version 21.5.1

    The same issue occurs in both versions.

    Adobe InDesign 2026
    Versions tested: 21.4.1.4 and 21.5.1
    Mac mini M4 Pro
    macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 (25G83)

  14. Pointer disappears / shows unrelated shape after ~10–15 min of use — requires force quit

    Environment:
    InDesign 21.5.1
    macOS Tahoe 26.6.2
    Mac Studio, Apple M1 Max

    Description:
    After roughly 10–15 minutes of normal use, the pointer stops behaving correctly. No specific action seems to trigger it — it just starts happening during regular work. The pointer either disappears completely or displays a random shape unrelated to the current tool or action. Once this occurs, InDesign becomes unresponsive and the only way to recover is to force quit and relaunch the app.

    Steps to reproduce:

    Open InDesign and work as usual.
    Continue working for approximately 10–15 minutes (no specific trigger identified).
    Observe the pointer.

  15. Incorrect PDF Tagging for Tables Split Across Pages with Repeated Header Rows

    When exporting a tagged PDF from InDesign, tables that span multiple pages and use repeated header rows are tagged incorrectly.

    Instead of generating a single table structure, the exported PDF creates repeated <THead> and <TBody> elements within the same table:

    <Table>
    ├─ <THead>
    ├─ <TBody>
    ├─ <THead>
    └─ <TBody>

    This results in an invalid or semantically incorrect table structure for PDF accessibility.

    Expected Behavior:

    Option 1 (structurally correct, though not ideal semantically):
    Each table continuation on a new page should be exported as a separate table:

  16. UNDO doesn't work and/with cursor issue

    Several times a day, at random, my cursor suddenly gets stuck on a tool (while remaining usable). Then UNDO stops working. At that point I can save my document and close it, but I'm forced to quit InDesign via Task Manager and restart it for things to work again.

    I updated to version 21.5.1 yesterday, but the problem persists.

  19. Object Export Options / addig Alt Text issues

    1) InDesign 21.5 on MacBook Pro Tahoe 26.6.1

    I'm experiencing various issues when adding Alt Text to images. The longer I work with the Object Export Options dialog, the more likely it becomes that one or more of the following issues will occur:

    A) The Object Export Options dialog is open and an image is selected. The existing Alt Text is highlighted and a new text is entered, but instead of replacing the existing Alt Text, the new text is inserted into a new text frame on the page.

  20. InDesign Relink Search do not find files on SMB share

    We're experiencing an issue when attempting to relink missing assets stored on an SMB network share.

    Environment

    Adobe InDesign (Latest Version)

    Files stored on an SMB network share.

    macOS (Fully up to date)

    The Problem

    When a linked file is missing and we choose Relink in InDesign, searching for the filename returns no results, even though the file exists on the SMB share.

    However:

    Finder can locate the file immediately.

    Spotlight also finds the file without any issues.
