1. zoom with touchpad windows

   I would like you to make it possible to zoom with the fingers on the touchpad in Windows. It works in illustrator, but not in Indesign, at a PC, in Windows (only on Mac). Could you make this possible? It gives so much better control over the working process

2. [BUG] Export file to remote server cause Indesign & Finder crash

   Indesign 18.1 on Ventura 13.0
   If I export a file (PDF, JPG, ...) on remote location and then click on it in finder, InDesign and Finder crashes and I must restart computer.
   But if I export to local location, everything works fine.

   So now I must export local and then copy exported file to our remote share server. :(

3. [BUG] PDF export creating with hidden attribute

   We are an enterprise customer who haven't been able to get anywhere with the following:

   Issue occurs on Ventura 13.1 and Adobe InDesign 18.1.

   When exporting a PDF file to Mac desktop the file exports as expected.
   When exporting to a remote SMB share file creates with "Hidden" file attribute applied making the file invisible for those who do not have "Show hidden files" enabled.

   This is the same file, from the same computer at the same time with the only difference being the remote location.

   • Tested on two different Imac's (None apple silicon) running Ventura 13.1

   • Tested to two different SMB file shares ( Dell EMC Unity running SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLES) )

   • Confirmed issue is present on a brand newly created InDesign file.

   • PDF files created via Microsoft Word and saved to the same location do not experience this issue.

   • Confirmed no file inheritance permissions are set on the parent folder they are being dropped into.

   • Occasionally it will work as intended once and then fail to work for subsequent attempts.

   • issue is also present when opening a PDF via Adobe Acrobat V22.003.20281 and using this to save a PDF copy to the remote file location.

   Current work around:

   Export file to desktop and then copy to file share. File creates as extended.

4. Selection extends in wrong direction - all other thext editors are doing well, except InDesign

   There is a very annoying behavior in InDesign - when using the Shift+Arrow keys to extend the selection, the selection grows in a wrong direction.
   To reproduce:
   1. Click and drag the text cursor to select text.
   2. Shift + Arrow left to make the selection smaller.
   Bug: the selection starts to grow/shrink AT THE BEGINNING OF SELECTION, not at the end of the selection.
   Why is this a problem?
   When selecting text, the cursor must be left where the mouse button is released. If selecting from left to right, the cursor must be left at the end of the selection. Therefore, Shift+Arrow key must grow/shrink the selection at the end. InDesign does in an unexpected way, it leaves the cursor at the beginning of the selection!
   BTW the cursor movement after selecting text is a random mess:
   - Shift + Left arrow - extends the selection to the left
   - after this: Shift + Right arrow extends the selection to the right
   - after this: Shift + Left arrow shrinks the selection on the right (... ?)

   The correct behavior (see practically all editors on this Earth, those all work correctly):
   - When releasing the cursor at the beginning of the selection (selecting from right to left), Shift + Arrow keys grow/shrink the selection at the beginning (on the left side).
   - When releasing the cursor at the end of the selection (selecting from left to right), Shift + Arrow keys grow/shrink the selection at the end (on the right side).

5. Font distortion in SVG files imported from Illustrator

   InDesign version 18.1 has a bug when importing svg images made in Illustrator; the fonts used in the svg files are distorted.
   When I had exported the svg files in Illustrator, I chose "save as" and SVG Options: Subsetting > "All Glyphs" to make sure the fonts remained accurate when placed in InDesign, and this has always worked until version 18.1. When I went back to version 18 and opened the file, the fonts were back to normal.

7. The pantone solid color books are missing with the latest 18.1 update. I have to use Indesign 2021 version now to do my work. Please fix!

   please add back the pantone solid color books to indesign. It's the most needed pantone set and I can't use Indesign 2022 until this is fixed.

8. Paragraph values not appearing – SOLUTION

   Paragraph values not showing in panel when text is selected.

   SOLUTION I use is to hide options then show options which resets panel, rather than quit and restart InDesign or reboot Mac.

9. When adding a list to a Right to Left Paragraph, tab leader disappers

   1. InDesign (Middle East) 18.1.0.51

   2. In a Right to Left Text Frame type a few words in a Right to Left Paragraph direction, following by tab with a period leader definition and then type a any any number so you will get dots between the last word and number (like in TOC). See in the attached image. Selceet one of the list options (numbering or bullets) to see the tab leader disaapers.

   3. Numbers or Bullets should be added at the begining without change the rest of the text.

   4. The Tab leader disappers (see attached image)

11. Unrecognizable when Color Setting is set to Japanese name

    OS : Windows 10/11
    InDesign : 18.1/ 17.4/16.4.3 (probably all versions)

    If I save a color setting with a Japanese name, the next time I open the color setting, an error occurs and it is not recognized.
    When I check the list, it is garbled and cannot be loaded.
    The same problem does not occur when the same color settings are used in Illustrator.

    Since this problem occurs in a Japanese environment, the contents of the screenshots and attached file names are in Japanese.

12. Export does not work in InDesign 18.1

    Often, Export does not work when I have been working with a document (typically 60-120 minutes). The application has to be quit and restarted; Export will then work. Version 18.1; macOS 12.6.2

14. ?bug re bulleted lists in v18

    I have just opened an InDesign document I created in Aug 2022. I am now using InDesign v18.1 x42. It converted the document from Shivani.indd to Shivani.indd[converted], as I see it does when you open documents created in previous versions.

    However, all my bulleted lists are no longer bulleted lists, they are just text, with the bullet symbol and a single space at the start of each line. When I select the text the bulleted list icon in “Bullets and Numbering” is no longer highlighted. But more of a problem is that clicking on “options” in “Bullets and Numbering” brings up the options dialogue but everything in the box is greyed out and cannot be selected.

    Is this a known issue? A feature? A bug or unintended consequence?

    (I am using Windows 10)

16. Running very slow

    InDesign CC 2023: no matter what settings (I.e. how many times I change the display performance to fast or turn off a lot of features) there is still a 5-7 second delay on every single keystroke, every cursor movement, every selection, etc. etc. That is, if it doesn't just freeze altogether. My document is only 21 pages with minimal text and the images shouldn't be displayed at full resolution anyway, so there's no reason it should be this laggy. No other adobe program has this problem for me at the moment. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program, that didn't work. I tried to clear the cache, but the keyboard shortcut didn't do anything. No matter what I do it doesn't even get faster. It's genuinely unusable at this point.

17. Grey outlines around pictures in Publish Online

    About 1/7 of every picture has grey lines partially surrounding it, but only when I publish online. Not when I export as PDF. There's plenty of image available beyond the edges of the image box, so I don't know why it does this.

18. table of contents not displaying items in tables with headers/footers

    The Layout/TOC feature does not include items in tables (that have headers/footers). If a table has a header/footer, the TOC just skips over the item, and goes onto the next one. When creating the TOC, it asks me if I would like to "include items in overset text?". There is never any overset text in the document, so when I click NO, the TOC skips over the table items. If I click YES, the items in the table get repeated over and over again in the TOC.

19. Screen flickers when I move an item

    When I want to move something , for example a text frame, my screen flickers. This is very annoying and i'm afraid if i move items too much, Indesign will crash. What can I do to fix this?

20. Font display issue with certain fonts in images from clipboard (18.1 x64)

    We use a charting service called Macrobond, and copy images from that software to insert in InDesign. The following buggy behavior is observed:

    When using certain fonts in the chart, the pasted image in InDesign displays those fonts in miniscule sizes. That does not happen with other fonts fonts.

    I suspect the issue stems from different ways in which InDesign handles the various fonts based on whether they are included or third-party (or perhaps depending if they are installed locally on the PC or is fetched from the Adobe library).

    In this example the first image shows a problematic chart using Arial Regular and Arial Bold Italic.

    The second image shows the chart using variations on the Myriad Pro font installed manually on the PC. Both charts were inserted into InDesign using the same method: copying the chart in Macrobond and pasting it into InDesign.

    Similar errors are exhibited when using Adobe Acrobat to generate PDFs in PowerPoint based on those same types of images with the same problematic fonts, so is not isolated to InDesign.
