1. Installed system fonts not loading in InDesign

   I have a font installed in my system which is showing up and working fin in Photoshop and Illustrator. However it is not showing up at all in InDesign. I have restarted InDesign, rebooted the computer and still not showing up. Putting my work at a standstill because this is a brand font that is needed.

2. Super heavy single page indesign file; add a purge button

   This single page file without any image or vector has 398 MB. How is it possible?

   I found a solutionL I exported a IDML file and then opened it on ?Indesign and saved a new INND. It worked.

   But it still: Indesign needs a "purge" button.

3. Processing speed slow when printing pdf file

   Slow Processing speed when printing PDF files created in Indesign. Using Version 18.5 and everything is up to date.

   Has been an issue a little over a month after update. Have run tests using older files that have already been printed and a new PDF created from the same file. The processing speed when printing is doubled in the new file. Started trouble shooting on the printers and servers with no success.

   The file size itself is the same only processing the file takes longer. Processing is done with Fiery E-46 A to a Ricoh Pro C7200e Graphics Addition printer. HUGE bottle neck for production!

   In the previous version I was able to work very smoothly with the comments I imported, but in this version the computer crashes. It freezes during processing.

5. Issue with Word Breaks in Dictionaries on InDesign (last version)

   Dear Technical Support Team,

   I am writing to inform you about an issue I am experiencing with word breaks in dictionaries, primarily in UK English (the Canadian one has fewer problems), German (2006 reform with Duden activated), and Danish, which are the languages I use the most. This problem has also arisen in other languages. I always switch the dictionary according to the language of the text I am working on. I have mainly encountered these errors using InDesign, but it has also happened to me in Illustrator. Clearly, the word break functionality is not working correctly, and syllabication is not accurately assigned, so it is not being applied correctly. This issue is adversely affecting the workflow as we are forced to resort to dictionaries to verify word breaks provided by InDesign, incurring an inevitable additional time investment.

   As an example, I have listed the following words below for you to verify how the UK English dictionary does not correctly break them:

   consequences
   entrances
   homogenous

6. Paint and lines disappear

   Indesign 2023, Mac OS 12 Monterey (other similar reports in Catalina and win10)

   Phenomenon
   Fill and line disappears when copying an object.

   Reproduction procedure
   1. Select an object with fill and line to surround it with the direct selection tool.
   2. Grab the anchor point and copy by option+drag.
   3. The object without fill or line is copied.

   The same result can be obtained by selecting an object to enclose with the direct selection tool, and then copying with the Object menu > Transform > Move.
   If you select an object by clicking directly on the fill area without surrounding it with the direct selection tool, the fill and lines are copied as they were (expected result).

   I would like the original object to be copied as is, just like in Illustrator.

   The circle that appears around the cursor is due to a utility and is displayed when clicking.
   The fact that nothing is displayed in the middle of a drag copy is probably a problem with the screen recording function.

8. ink limit not displaying correctly with 'flat' psd files, Indesign 18.5

   Indesign doesn't correctly display zero ink levels when inspecting psd files with the ink limit inspector when the .psd file has the default 'background' bottom layer present.

   first image uploaded shows two files with same colour profiles, from same scanner etc previewed in Indesign —top one still has a 'background' base layer and the white area around it shows red when there isnt any ink/colour — this is incorrect!

   If I double click the background layer so it is no longer 'flat' and resave the top photoshop file, then Indesign is able to read the ink levels correctly!

9. InDesign Not Exporting Forms Correctly

   InDesign 18.5 is not exporting form fields correctly. The fields have a description, which corresponds to a tooltip in Acrobat. The fields fail the Acrobat accessibility checker, which states they do not have a description. They do, but InDesign is not exporting it correctly. The only way to correct this is to delete and rebuild the form fields over and over and over until the error clears.

    When importing HEIC image files, the orientation of the picture stored in the metadata is being ignored. This is very annoying, since one has to rotate the image manually each time this is imported.

12. Fonts only showing in drop down, cannot type them directly in

    InDesign 18.5

    Issue:
    Highlight text
    Click on the font Window (mine is displayed on right)
    begin to type in installed or adobe font, font does not populate

    When I type in a font, I expect to be able to populate it

    Wen I try to finish typing the font in the searchbar, it doesn't let me type in the next letter and just gives me a different font. Some fonts don't show up or do once and never again, yet are in font dropdown. This includes both installed OTC and installed Adobe fonts.

13. Saving activates the scale tool next time…

    I've been encountering this for some time now. Might seem insignificant but can actually hinder workflow. When closing one InDesign file if the modal dialog appears and I hit 'S' on the keyboard to Save (rather than clicking) the next time I open an InDesign file the scale tool has become active. As I never use the scale tool, this can be a bit annoying if I don't spot it straight away

14. pdf export

    Hello.

    I've used until 2 weeks ago a CS4 version of Indesign.
    Now I have the CC2023.
    I've troubles with the pdf export.
    The document is always the same, a 720 pages catalogues with Illustrator pictures.
    With the CS4, I was able to export 2 pages in around 5 seconds.
    With the CC2023, it takes arount 2 minutes, and after that the software don't answer for other 3 minutes.

    What happens?

15. V18.4-18.5 Text boxes shrinking fractional and hiding last line of text PLUS then 'over-set text' error message not flagging this problem up

    I sent a job to print and after it came back 3 text boxes had shrunk fractionally to hide the last line of text. When I then went to make a press-ready pdf, it didn't flag up this error by warning me of "over-set text", so I did not catch this problem in time.

    My stage 5 of the document, and then the final artwork file for it, with the boxes highlighted.

    I didn't get any warning messages for 'over-set text' to flag this missing text up.

16. Panel flyout menus do not open on external displays/expanded desktops — they open only on primary display

    I keep all of my tool palettes on a secondary monitor on Mac OS (now Sonoma) running the latest version of InDesign.

    None of the flyout menus will open when the tool palettes are on a secondary display. However, I find if I drag the tool palette over to my Primary display, the flyout menus work again (until I drag them back to the external display).

17. Indesign Online Dashboard improvements - Custom URL, Google analytics, Fname direct to send clients

    Indesign is hands down the best software to design & create digital brochures with its advanced technology & features its impeccable. HOWEVER talking about the Online Dashboard System its not leading the industry.

    I've done my research and a lot of the online digital brochure creator websites are ahead.

    I will list below a few new ideas/features I'd love to see Adobe implement to put them back in the lead when it comes to the publishing feature.
    (Some of these ideas are already being done by the online companies)

    <> Custom URL, so it looks more professional to clients rather than it saying "Ind.Adobe" with loads of numbers following it.

    <> While on the subject of the URL, it would be fantastic if we could customise the cover photo/thumbnail rather than it showing the adobe logo, I'd like to show my brands logo. It would be a great feature for when we send the link in WhatsApp

    <> Better and more analytics rather than just the 3-4 basic ones. The more the better it really helps to understand as much as possible. (gender/location/where they found the link/social media and so much more)

    <> To go one better a collaboration to implement Google Analytics

    <> Name tags - (I don't actually know what this is called) I'm sure you've all seen it when setting up emails in mailchimp for example 'Fname', then it automatically inserts the clients name.
    It would be fantastic if this feature could be inserted inside the brochure, so the client feels like the brochure itself is personal to them.
    Then instead of the traditional 'Publish Online' button, it has a send to box and when you enter each clients name & email it automatically fills the name and sends the Custom URL link to that specific client.

    I think finally I'm done.

    I have so many ideas so anyone that works at Adobe if you're struggling for new features you can give me a call🤣

    Thank you and I hope other Indesign fans will see these features as benefits, I look forward to seeing them on the platform soon.

19. PDF Workflow shows syntax error in exported PDF Version 18.5

    I read that there was some Problems with PDF export since InDesign version 18.4. And i want to report that there are still issues with the latest version 18.5. Our Workflow reports syntax error in pdf and aborts procession. Its a full stop, no detailed error messages were shown. The only solution for us is to place the PDF again in older InDesign (17.4) and export a PDF from there.

20. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

    Hi,

    Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.
