Align Towards Spine/Away From Spine in Slug Area
Not sure if this is better as bug report or feature request . . .
Spine alignment options do not work for text in Slug Area. For example, text set to Align Towards Spine and positioned in the slug area beside a recto page does not align toward spine.
It makes sense why spine alignment for objects generally might not work for text not touching a page, since the pasteboard does not have a spine, but the slug area should be recognized as an extension of the page (or, at least, the requirements of the page).

Cannot add CC Library P/C styles to documents more than one at a time
New problem: suddenly I can't add paragraph/character styles from CC Libraries to documents unless I choose them one-by-one.
(I'm trying to overwrite a previous version of the same styles, which to date I have done without issue nearly every day for months.)
I have made no changes to my system (InDesign2018 Version 13.1 on Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.4).Description of behavior:
Select list of Character (or Paragraph) styles and right-click to use option to add to the current document. "Add" option NOT available.
Select single Character (or Paragraph) style and right click to use option to add to the…

Adobe Indesign CC 2018: Export to pdf does not maintain Indesign file layers structure
Creating interactive pdf in InDesign may require controls to be placed in a strict vertical sequence.
Exporting to interactive pdf from InDesign re-orders the layers and elements within those layers. This may break the functionality of the original structure as some buttons which control the appearance of others may no longer be accessible. The structure then has to be modified in Adobe Acrobat which is time consuming and awkward to do.

Fill with Placeholder Text doesn’t automatically change the font and characters for that language when holding ⌘ and choosing that from menu
InDesign CC 2018 on macOS Mojave public Beta,
when holding down ⌘ key and choose Type-> fill w place holder text, there’s a pop up menu that you can choose which language you want to fill in, and it did fill with placeholder text, However it didn’t fill in text with that language and choosing a font that suits that language, or even ragged left if it’s Arabian language.1 voteThank you for reporting the issue.
I need more inputs from you to get to the bottom of the issue. Please confirm if the issue happens only with Mojave. Was it working fine before upgrading to Mojave?
Are CMD/opt keys working fine in other workflows?

Data Merge Preview drops Paragraph Styles with Nested Styles
Suppose you want to merge data, and format it with nested styles. For example, you want one word to be red, and the other blue. If the cell is empty, remove the line.
This works as intended until you 'Preview' the document. When you view a record without data, then move to the next, the paragraph style is lost entirely!
For example, I use this technique to merge many restaurant menus for many locations. A food item is regular up to a '$'. Then the price is italicized. Some locations don't offer this item. If I were to Preview one…

Text Replacement
When I have text selected, I click on the box with the Font name and type out the font that I want. Then click on the font weight preference, but it just reverts back to the original font, it does not actually apply the font that I am click on in the dropdown. The only way I can choose a new font is by using my arrow keys and then hitting enter for the selection. I have a stylus so I thought maybe it's just my pen not working, but this doesn't seem to be the case because it doesn't…

spinning ball every minute
InDesign CC 13.1
When using InDesign, doesn't matter which file, or file size, every minute on the minute I encounter a spinning ball for 10 seconds.I use InDesign for a majority of my work, so there is almost an hour of work time lost each day.
5 votesHello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread…

Lock files not synced via google drive
We have an issue where one user opens an indesign file and a lock file is created. When on a standard file server, a second user tries to open the file and is told its locked by user x and they cannot open the file. With google file stream, user 1 opens the file and a lock file is generated and synced, user 2 has that lock file synced locally so its visible, but they can still open the file and get no lock warnings. Has anyone else found this and found a solution

data merge to PDF: page numbers (generated with current page number marker) don't increase
To recreate this bug:
1) Make a new print document 8 pages long (doesn't matter if pages are facing or not) A4 or letter size (this doesn't matter either)
2) Go to the master page and somewhere on the master page, add a new text frame and within that frame, add an auto page number.
3) In a text editor, create the following file for test purposes and save it with the name "test.txt" - (cut and paste the next five lines of text):
name
Colin
David
Jose
Max
4) Return to InDesign, go to the data merge palette and…4 votes -

Putting an InDesign extension into Panel mode from Modeless fails to display the extension
Changing the <UI><Type> field in the manifest.xml from Modeless to Panel for an extension which has already been run as a Modeless type causes InDesign to crash, or fail to display the panel. This change was possible in previous versions of the application, and works correctly in Illustrator.
Steps:
1) Start with the UI Showcase sample from the Adobe CEP resources GitHub. https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/Samples/tree/master/UI_Showcase
2) Install it
3) Start the InDesign application
4) Open the Modeless version of the UI Panel from the Extensions menu
Result: this shows correctly
5) Close the panel, shut down InDesign
6) Change the UI/Type for…1 vote -
InDesign Publish Online Not Clickable on Windows in Chrome or Firefox
Working in: Adobe InDesign CC 2018
We recently published a guide online using Adobe Publish online. The clickable elements (buttons, interactive elements) are not clickable on touchscreen PCs in Chrome or Firefox, but the touchscreen works (not as clean, but works). This issue is not present when the PC users are in safari or internet explorer. All content was created and published on a Mac, and no macs have had an issue.
The content is private, but I can send the guide to anyone from Adobe on a person-person basis.

Indesign 13.1 x64 (PC), Cell styles, Ignore option not working
I can't get the "Ignore" option to work when setting up cell styles, I've had it working on previous versions, but now it won't stay (it needs to show in the rule type and colour setting selector panel but when I select "Ignore" nothing shows in the panel - it needs to display the "Ignore" setting). An example of when you might use it is if you've set up a table with various cell styles, eg header row, thin underlines, thick underlines and a table end rule and then want to apply a tint panel to all, or some of…

Master Page
Master Page not reflected on some document pages. Adobe InDesign CC 2018. Workaround was to change the affected document pages to another master page, then change back to the original master page. The document pages then refreshed to the expected result.

applying colour to grayscale images against coloured background previews incorrectly
When I place a grayscale jpg in a frame with a background colour of C100/Y85/M0/K38 and apply a colour of C0 / M84 / Y100 K13, it displays correctly, red image against blue background. When I export that to PDF, the PDF preview shows no red, and a black box with the grayscale image knocked out in blue. When I open that in Acrobat Pro, it again displays correctly.

Bold
Upon defining a style with its only attributes set to “Bold”, the “Style Settings” box still reports its attributes as “[None]” (without stating that it’s actually “[None] + Bold]”). The “Basic Characters Format” still states it to be “Bold”.
I encountered this as a nested-style which relies on a “Bold” style stopped setting its Bold where necessary. The document was a previous-version-created document, and I began a fresh document re-defining all styles. The unreported-Bold attribute behaviour is evident in the newly created v13.1 InDesign document.
