1. Change language

   Hi
   I have installed InDesign version 21.1 x64 for Windows with norwegian menus. I try to change menus from norwegian to english, but it does not work. I uninstalled InDesign and went to Creative Cloud Desktop -Apps. - Preferences - and changed the language to english and reinstalled InDesign. The menus are still in Norwegian. Why does that happen? Will you please give me an answer.

2. Lenteur extrême indesign 2026

   Bonjour,
   depuis environ 1 semaine (dernière mise à jour 21.1 x64 d'InDesign sur PC), chaque lettre ajoutée à un document dans InDesign 2026 met presque 10 secondes avant d'apparaître et que je puisse agir de nouveau sur mon document. Même chose pour sélectionner un mot ou pour effectuer la moindre action dans un texte en cours d'édition. seule le curseur bouge normalement, mais il disparaît tant que l'action en cours n'a pas été réalisée.
   J'ai désinstallé et réinstallé InDesign en supprimant les préférences. rien n'a changé.
   J'ai réinitialisé les préférences et rien n'a changé.
   Mon système est très récent :
   - Processeur : AMD Ryzen 7 7700 8-Core Processor (3.80 GHz)
   - Mémoire RAM installée : 32,0 Go (31,1 Go utilisable)
   - Système d’exploitation 64 bits, processeur x64
   - Windows 11 Famille - Version 25H2 - Installé le ‎11/‎07/‎2025
   Build du système d’exploitation 26200.7623
   Carte graphique : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050

   C'est une panne critique pour moi car en tant qu'éditeur, je ne peux plus travailler correctement ni rapidement sur les livres en cours alors que tout allait bien avec ces mêmes dossiers il n'y a que quelques jours.
   Merci de me donner une solution qui rétablisse le fonctionnement normal d'InDesign.

3. Table of Contents running heads

   The Table of Contents should have an option to include just the running head portion of a paragraph, often in a bold style in my documents. Otherwise one has to manually strip out all the text that follows after a running head in the Table of Contents.

5. BUG: InDesign 2025–2026 forces pasted Illustrator vectors to embedded EPS

   Description:
   InDesign 2025–2026 frequently forces pasted Illustrator vector artwork to be placed as embedded EPS, even when the artwork is extremely simple (few paths, no effects, no transparency).

   When pasting from Illustrator, the following warning appears:
   “This command would create a large number of page items and would severely degrade performance. Data will be placed as embedded EPS.”

   After confirming the warning, the pasted object is no longer editable:
   - Ungroup is unavailable
   - Individual vector paths cannot be selected
   - Fill and stroke cannot be edited
   - The object cannot be used as an image frame

   Steps to Reproduce:
   1. Create a simple vector object in Adobe Illustrator (2–3 shapes, no effects).
   2. Copy the object.
   3. Paste into InDesign 2025 or 2026.
   4. The performance warning appears and the object is embedded as EPS.

   Expected Result:
   The pasted artwork should be converted into native, editable InDesign vector paths, as in earlier InDesign versions.

   Actual Result:
   InDesign forces the artwork to be placed as embedded EPS, making it non-editable.

   Additional Notes:
   - Occurs even when “Prefer PDF When Pasting” is disabled.
   - Occurs even when “Copy PDF to Clipboard” is enabled.
   - Clipboard settings are correctly configured.
   - The same artwork pastes correctly as editable vectors in earlier InDesign versions.

   This behavior worked correctly in earlier versions of InDesign and appears to be a regression.

6. Tables and text randomly disappear in Adobe InDesign document

   While working in Adobe InDesign, tables and text frames intermittently disappear from the document, even though their frames and guides are still visible. As shown in the attached image, content that should be displayed (tables and text) is no longer visible on the page layout.

   This issue occurs during normal editing and navigation of the document and does not appear to be related to hidden layers or visibility settings. The problem affects document review and editing, making it difficult to verify content accuracy.

7. ePub synthetic spread export not including xml / html language tags

   1. Version 21.0

   2. When exporting a Fixed Layout EPUB with the <Enable Synthetic Spreads> option, the language tags are not exporting in the HTML, which is an issue for accessibility. The language tags ARE exported properly when the <Convert Spread to Landscape Page> option is chosen, so this clearly seems to be a glitch with this particular export option.

   3. I would expect the following code to be at the top of each of the HTML files <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops">, and this at the top of the OPF file: <package xmlns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/opf" version="3.0" unique-identifier="bookid" prefix="ibooks: http://vocabulary.itunes.apple.com/rdf/ibooks/vocabulary-extensions-1.0/" xml:lang="en">

   4. However, the exported files have the following code, which misses the xml language tags:

   This is causing a LOT of manual work for my team and turning into a big time suck. It seems like something that could be a relatively easy fix on the development side... so we'd REALLY appreciate you prioritizing it! Especially with the recent EAA guidelines for ePub accessibility, this is a critical aspect of the ePub export.

8. Linked images are not loading after Mac OS upgrade to Tahoe 26.2

   Linked images are coming up distorted/warped after upgrading my Mac's OS to Tahoe 26.2. Can be corrected by manually relinking all the images, but what a pain. Screenshot example included.

9. Assets disappear when dragging off the page onto the artboard.

   Version 21.1 x64

   Assets disappear when dragging them off the page and onto the artboard. This also causes the the preview to ignore everything outside of the bleed effectively eliminating the artboard entirely. See attached.

10. Show Import Options no longer remains enabled

    The “Show Import Options” checkbox does not remain enabled in the “Place” dialog. In some cases, it stays checked for one or two items, but when importing more than that, the option is automatically deselected.

    Previously, this setting remained enabled. While this may appear to be a minor issue, it causes significant inconvenience and seriously disrupts the workflow.

11. Error in batch conversion from InDesign 21.0 to PDF

    Doing a batch conversion of InDesign files to PDF is not working.

    InDesign version 21.0
    Steps:
    1. Go to https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/acrobat/createpdf/
    2. Select Convert to PDF
    3. “Add a file from your device” selected
    4. Selected InDesign files created in version 21.0
    5. Acrobat will show converting and then conversion fail
    6. Tested files created in version 20.5 following the same steps and conversion successful

12. [ID-4275284][Windows][KB5074109][KB5073724]InDesign encounters Error 2 while saving files or crashes during the save process

    Abruptly files that have been edited on a Mac are corrupting when opened on PC and a save is attempted - often crashing InDesign repeatedly. Can normally eventually save a copy to 'Downloads' - rather than the shared Dropbox folder and then overwrite but tends to take several restarts and recovery attemps / saving as idml. Gives a variety of error messages - sometimes error 2, sometimes unable to do this process, some times tried to save but couldn't... any ideas?!

    We are closely monitoring the KB previously shared by Microsoft for Windows 10 | Windows 11, and we see that the issue status is marked as resolved (Resolved: 23 Jan 2026, 14:00 PT).

    • Windows 11 - Resolution: This issue is resolved in the out-of-band (OOB) update released on January 24, 2026, (KB5078127), and updates released after this date.
    • Windows 10 - Resolution: This issue is resolved in the out-of-band (OOB) update KB5078129, released on January 24, 2026, and available via the Microsoft Update Catalog, as well as in updates released after this date.

    We have validated the fix on Windows 11 and are seeing the issue resolved. Kindly install the latest update and confirm whether it resolves the issue for you.

14. New image replacement functionality

    InDesign question. I work with placeholder images quite often in low resolution (LR). I then need to replace them with the high resolution (HR) versions once approved. This was always a simple task of replacing the LR image with the new HR image via the links panel. The new image would replace the old exactly, no resizing required. Since the latest update this is not the case. The new image comes in at completely the wrong size and I have to go through the document to rework EVERY image. As you can imagine this is very frustrating. Why has this change happened. It is not useful.

    On querying this with the chatbot I was given this work around but it's not useable when faced with bulk image replacement. This is something that was so streamlined and useful and is now a complete time sump. Very frustrated.

    This change is related to how InDesign handles image frames and content scaling. When you replace an image, InDesign now respects the actual dimensions and resolution of the new image rather than automatically fitting it to the previous image's frame. This means the new HR image may have different pixel dimensions or aspect ratio, so it doesn't automatically scale to the old image's size.

    To manage this and maintain consistent sizing when replacing images:

    Use the Links panel to replace the image by selecting the low resolution image and clicking Relink.

    After relinking, if the new image size is incorrect, select the image frame.

    Hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) while dragging a corner handle to scale both the frame and content proportionally.

    Alternatively, use the Auto-Fit option on the frame to ensure the content scales with the frame.

    For precise control, use the Transform panel to enter exact scale percentages or dimensions.

    This behavior ensures that the image quality and resolution are preserved and that you have control over how the new image fits within your layout. To avoid unexpected resizing, always check the frame fitting options and scaling settings after replacing images.

    Can we at least have a choice on import to honour original scaling please?

15. InDesign Crashes When Placing, Relinking, or Modifying Object Layer Options

    I've been using this process for years with placing specific Layer Comps from Photoshop in InDesign, but lately it's been crashing when Placing, Relinking, or modifying Object Layer Options.

    I don't know if this is a computer issue or InDesign bug. I'm running Windows 11 Enterprise, 32GB 8400 MT/s RAM, Core Ultra 7 265H, and 8GB RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell.

16. AdjustLayoutPreference Object Properties Not Working in InDesign 2025 & 2026 Scripts

    I am using Indesign 2025 and 2026; I would like to enable the "Adjust Layout" option in my documents through the Indesign scripting by using "AdjustLayoutPreferences" object properties as in InDesign ExtendScript API Model, but Indesign throwed error is "Eval Error (#55): "Object does not support the property or method 'adjustLayoutPreferences'".

17. Tint on frame export to *.pdf issue

    InDesign 26.1 x64; Windows 11 25H2;
    1. Create new document with two pages, add 20% of black on each text frame.
    2. Export to pdf file (Standard PDF/X-3:202)
    expected pdf file - two pages with 20% tint
    actual: to white pages

18. Have more Title Case formatting options

    Please add more Title Case formatting options like AMA AP APA, Bluebook, Chicago, MLA;etc.
    The default one people often have to edit, making words like "of", "and";etc not start with a capital letter

19. Have ALL Case Options under Paragraph Styles

    The text case options in the top menu should also be in paragraph styles, but instead we have limit options in paragraph styles.
    If I want Title Case for a paragraph style, there should be an option for it

20. CC Libraries freeze when closing and opening InDesign again

    The CC Libraries windows works fine, until you close the project & the InDesign app with the red X in the left top corner. (MacOS) It doesn't fully close and that is okay. But when you try to open any project again or create a new one, the CC Libraries freeze. You can still take out things from the window, but cannot scroll. The only option to fix that is to restart the whole app.

    Version of Adobe InDesign: 21.1

    Steps to reproduce the issues:
    1. Create new file
    2. Use CC Libraries
    3. Close the window with red X (Mac OS)
    4. Open it again and create new file
    5. The CC Library is frozen, cannot be used. (The files can still be taken from the window, but you cannot scroll)

    Expected result
    To work normally as before
