  1. Printing Documents with VFs directly from InDesign is broken, need to export to PDF first

    Hello support team!
We at Dalton Maag noticed that we couldn't print documents containing variable fonts directly from InDesign 16.3 on macOS Big Sur. Export to a PostScript file produces a broken file. The document needs to be exported to PDF first. We found this issue on our client font but managed to reproduce it with Source Serif VF from https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-serif/releases/tag/4.004R.

I sent the following files to Josh Hadley at Adobe:

    • A ZIP containing test documents, a broken exported PostScript file and a correctly exported PDF file
    • An AVI showing how we tested
    • A JPG showing what comes out…

  2. Double hyphen in words that already contain hyphen (minus)

Since a few weeks (we think since the InDesign 16.1 x64 update), we see a major problem in a lot of our books:
Words that already contain a hyphen (minus sign: -), and that are hyphenated automatically by InDesign, get a double hyphen!
Normally, when hyphenated words are at the end of the line, the 'hard typed' hyphen gets replaced by the automatic hyphen (with the blue ~ added above it), but now the automated hyphen is added, so we get two consecutive hyphens (--). Sometimes on the same line, sometimes one on the next (see example screenshot).

    This is…

  3. Can't Duplicate multiple Page with Alt + Drag and place them in a specific place just moves to bottom

This used to work but the past years updates have stopped this function, again another thing that worked removed! You used to be able to shift click on a few pages in the pages panel then alt drag them and place them ANYWHERE in the document, sometimes i liked them straight underneath current pages but now for some unknown reason its doesn't allow me to do this with more than one page? when you try to move the selected pages nothing happens and the pages are just duplicated at the end of the document not very helpful with a 100…

  4. Cross-reference doesn't find all instances of a ¶ style

When I try to insert or edit a cross-reference, InDesign finds only about half the instances with the specified ¶ style, so I can't insert the needed cross-ref.

  6. Can't rename object in 2022

Same issue like here, but posting this again to get a response to this, because the response below that post is a big joke. The admin assumes that the bug report is too stupid to rename an object. But the gif clearly shows that 1. the admin hat the window arranged differently and 2. in the gif with the bug you see the rename window flickering.

I did the work adobe should do and tested it a bit.

The result is different depending on if the windows is floating, docked or expanded. Float and expand works, dock not.

  11. Export to PDF function crash in InDesign 15.1

Today I have updated to InDesign 15.1 and when I try to export to PDF the application immediately crash.

This happen even I change the type of export (small dimension, print, etc.).

    I'm using windows 10 pro ver. 1909 build 18363.836, and Indesign 15.1 x64.

The system start to work but the application crash at 16% of the export.

The problem seems connected with something on the file, because I try to export another project and it work perfectly.

The file was all "green" in the preliminary checks panel.

And I notice that the system crash also using other function,…

  14. Two finger trackpad zoom in OSX is broken

I use Option + Two Finger Up Or Down on the track pad to zoom in InDesign.

While it seems to zoom in fine, it almost never zooms out properly. Often when I try and zoom out it zooms in further.

This behaviour works just fine in other Adobe apps such as Illustrator.

    I'm running Mac OSX Catalina 10.15.7 on a 2019 16" Macbook Pro.

  15. Fonts' OpenType features not working in Composite fonts in InDesign

When using any Hebrew font in InDesign, the diacritics (nikuds) are displayed in their correct location. This location is set within the fonts by using OpenType features such as ccmp (for glyph substitution) and mark (for glyph positioning). InDesign recognizes and applies these features.

When this font is used as part of a Composite font in InDesign, the result is quite different. It seems like the ccmp feature is honored but the mark feature is not.

The diacritics shift and the length of the text increases. Some of this fluctuation can be mitigated by Diacritics Position feature in InDesign however…

  19. Custom menus created by script stay after relaunching InDesign

There's a bug in InDesign 2022 where custom menus created by a script stay after relaunching InDesign.

    How to reproduce:

-Run this AppleScript script which will create a menu titled Custom Menu:

    tell application "Adobe InDesign 2022"
    tell menu "$ID/Main" to make submenu with properties {title:"Custom Menu"}
    end tell

    -Relaunch InDesign

The menu Custom Menu will still be there. While it should NOT be there unless explicitely created by a script again.

The only way to remove it is to run a separate script that specifically removes the menu.

It's a big problem for third-party software: for example, where users…

  20. Adding file extension after first letter of file name when saving a new document

When I save a new document, the default file name is "Untitled-1.indd" (or .psd or .ai). If I want to call the file "ProjectA.indd" when I start typing and press "P" all creative cloud apps add the file extension after the first letter then continue with what I am typing. So what should be "ProjectA" turns into "P.inddrojectA." If I only type "Pr" I get "P.inddr." If I start to delete and remove the r and the second d, it will add the file extension again so I end up with "P.ind.indd." If I delete back to the "P" and…
