1. Locked Files in InDesign 16 (CC2021) + MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) + special Character Filenames on SMB Share

   When opening Files with special characters (german umlauts like äöü) on a SMB Network Share with MacOS 10.14 + InDesign 16 (sometimes on 2nd try) I get a "Document can't be opened, permission problem or already opened" (translated by me).

   When downgrading to InDesign 15 or Upgrading to a newer OSX the problem is gone. But I am bound to that Versions because of hardwarecompatibility, so it would be nice to have a fix for that.

   I can see, that InDesign 15 on Mojave and InDesign 16 on newer MacOS Versions is creating a lockfile, but InDesign 16 + Mojave is NOT.

   Current Versions: MacOS 10.14.6, InDesign 16.4.2 (but exists on 16.xx Versions)

2. 72 DPI images not placing at 100%, scaling to 216 DPI

   This has apparently been a discussion since at least 2019 and has not yet found a solution:

   When placing certain jpg images saved to 72 DPI, In Design frequently places them at 1/3 actual size, or down to 216 DPI. This is including if the ID document's increments/document size are set to pixels. It seems most common with jpgs saved in a standard "Save As" format from Photoshop vs. the legacy "Save for Web."

   1. Versions 14.02 to 17.1 - Edit - issue continues after update to 17.2.1.
   2. Steps to reproduce: place a jpg image saved to 72 dpi resolution
   3. Expected result - image is placed at 100% scale like other images
   4. Actual result - image is placed at 33.33% scale
   5. See images attached. These are identically sized - the one that was saved using the outdated legacy Save for Web option on Photoshop came in at 100% scale or 72 DPI. The image saved in a more standard Save As format from Photoshop comes in at 33.33% scale or 216 DPI. Export option from Photoshop yields the same result. Have also noticed this scaling issue with images provided to me from non-Photoshop sources.

   Occasionally it loads it in at 50% scale instead of 33.33%, too.

3. InDesign export file location resets every time

   InDesign export seems to have been a bit broken in the latest release.

   When exporting a PDF, InDesign forgets the previous file location and working file location, prompting me to export to the desktop every time.

   I'm seeing this behaviour on both of my Macbook Pros. Both are 2019 16" laptops running MacOS Monterey.

   Is anyone else seeing this behaviour?

4. [ID 17.2.20] Import xlsx spreadsheet: formatted numbers are truncated

   MacOS 10.15.7 (19H1824) French localization
   InDesign 17.2.0.20 (17200)
   Excel 16.58 (16.58.22021501)

   When importing an Excel sheet as a table, every number is truncated before the first thousand separator (which is a space in French).
   1 457 will be imported as 1
   21 457 >> 21
   (21 457) >> (21
   -210 457 >> -210
   621 457 >> 621
   and so on…

   After a lot of tests on several configurations and discussions on the Adobe forum, I can say that the issue will only occur on French macOS systems, starting with Catalina. No matters what version of InDesign is used (15.0 thru 17.2).

5. Format replacements are not counted (0 replacement(s) done when formats are changed)

   Searching for double line breaks and changing the indentation to 0. It says 0 replacement(s) done, but the condition is in fact found, and the "first indent" is indeed set to 0. See attached screen shots.
   Is this behaviour deliberate, since no text contents is changed, only formatting?

6. Can't click through InDesign to desktop or other app + InDesign list panels tilt

   When I click on panel boxes to adjust values like font size, transparency, color tone etc, InDesign list panels (swatches, fonts etc) tilt and list elements slip away from mouse selection like they were magnetic.
   Can't exit from InDesign window (mouse click to desktop or other apps doesn't work). Functionality can be restored only by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Canc and then Esc.

   InDesign version: 16.4.2 (and earlier versions)
   OS: Windows 10 on Dell XPS-15

7. crash split layout view

   InDesign (randomly) crashes when copying/pasting from one view to the other in split layout view.
   At this time I'm working on a Windows 10 machine with InDesign 17.3 installed, but I've had this isue already for years, going back to InDesign 14. The problem occured also on Mac machines with Sierra and Catalina installed.

   I can't timely reproduce the issue, it happens randomly, but always with split layout view in use. Only today InDesign crashed already 7 times while I was working in split layout view.

8. Outlining text - Bulleted List is not working and text gets heavier

   InDesign 17.3.
   Outlining text is not working:
   Bulleted List is not working when outlined. The bullets disappears and the text seems slightly heavier.

   Page distortion when editing or resizing. Usual clears when changing pages or screen magnification. Becoming more frequent with version 17.3, using macOS 12.4.

10. Indesign published document - not listed on the 'publish online dashboard'

    Yesterday I published a presentation and shared it with the client - this morning I went to view analytics for the published document in my online dashboard but it's not listed there. The published document I shared is still working but I have no way to see the analytics for the document. I've tried clearing browser history, signing out of indesign and refreshing browser many times but no change. I can see the other documents that I published yesterday that I don't need the analytics for.

    Any suggestions or solutions please? Is this a known bug?

11. Massive Graphics Glitches

    OSX 12.4
    InDesign 17.3
    2019 Retina 5K iMac 19,1 w/64 GB RAM

    This issue seems to persist despite the most current updates. At first, I thought my video card was dying, but as it does not happen with any other product I feel it is strictly an InDesign issue.

    This most often happens when I am close up working on a document. Sometimes I might nudge the view (either accidentally or on purpose) and the screen redraws with massive sections missing or rendering in bizarre geometric patterns. If I scroll away and come back... it's fine.

    This appeared to be happening much more often with ID 17.2 and I was hoping 17.3 addressed this problem. For a short while it appeared like it was fixed. But, soon enough...it happened again. Not at the same rate, but enough that it is just unacceptable for a subscription product.

    As I said this occurs on and off in two specific ways. One, usually when there is a quick movement of the screen forcing a small redraw. And two, when you are close up (although on a rare occasion it does happen at full screen). The patterns are pretty severe, although that too tends to vary. I am attaching a screenshot of one of the most recent severe occurrences.

13. InDesign crashes whenever story editor is opened

    Story editor is unavailable because the crash happens as soon as I open it. On MacBook Air chip M1, Indesign 16.4. Also text in text frames disappears ,and F8 does not work as a shortcut to info.

14. Alttext missing when image is covering spine

    When you have a spread with an image that is partially covering both pages, the image gets split into two images when making the PDF. Even when adding alttext to the image, this alttext gets Applied only to the first/left half of the image. The part on the right page has no alttext and is not an artefact. This way you will allways end up with a rejected PDF in terms of Accessibility.

15. Publish online: Video sound overlaps on multiple pages

    I regularly need to upload presentations using Publish Online in Indesign. When you start viewing pages, video sound overlaps and plays despite that page not being selected. I have found that once the pages have finished "loading" in the browser, and you start the presentation again, this no longer happens. However, this doesn't help if you have a client wanting to view the link for the first time, and the sound is overlapping.
    I have tried different browsers, and the problem is the same in each one.
    The only solve is to not have videos play sound, but this is very limiting.
    PLEASE can you fix this bug!

16. missing menu

    Having some issues with my menus in Indesign 17.3 / MacOS 12.5.1
    A few of them have been showing up blank and I haven't been able to find a fix, and working off the top menu bar in the meantime is very tedious. Any suggestions welcome.

17. Linked Images Disappearing/ InDesign Files Opening as Read-Only

    Good morning!

    After my computer updated to Monterey 12.3.1, the linked images in InDesign files (indd) turn black or static or with colored stripes like bad reception on an old TV. The link panel did not show a broken link but I had to manually relink all the files. I've tried reinstalling InDesign and going back to an earlier version of InDesign. All to no avail.

    A second problem that occurred is that InDesign files would only open as read only. When I tried to resave it said that someone had them checked out or I didn't have permissions to the file. I am not working off a server, but I am working off an external hard drive. I checked the permissions on the folders and everything is set read/write for me.

    I'm stumped. :) I'm working on M1 iMac, OS 12.3.1 and InDesign 17.2.1

18. No transparency when placing vector objects from CC library

    All of a sudden InDesign does not support transparency from the CC library. Any object in the library with transparency no comes with a white background. I'm not sure why randomly this has started, but it's extremely annoying and a giant workflow hang-up.

19. InDesign 17.2 Export XML crashes

    Adobe InDesign 17.2.0.20
    macOS 12.3.1

    Upon exporting XML from an InDesign file, InDesign crashes. This does not happen with Adobe InDesign 17.1.0.50.

    Please see attached crash logs and error messages received from InDesign.
