multiple versions of files from book open upon "converting"
- Opened book (.indb) file saved in previous version of InDesign.
- Double-clicked all the individual files to open them up in InDesign which is a new version (18.0 x64). A warning appeared saying the files will need to be converted if I renumber, etc.
- I used the book file to open all the files and immediately resaved them to update them.
- I made edits to one of the files from the book, and saved.
- Colleagues came on and I used the Book file to bounce between the different document files.
- To quickly save out all my changes, I simply close InDesign…

Paper color should be RGB when document is RGB
When I create a new INDD in RGB or convert from CMYK to RGB, the formula for the [Paper] swatch should change with it. Currently the [Paper] swatch is CMYK. This is causing an issue whenever I create a gradient from a vibrant RGB color to [Paper]. The vibrant color gets muddled down to the look of a CMYK conversion. The workaround I've been using is to create a custom white swatch for the gradient, or manually convert [Paper] to RGB. Both workarounds are less than ideal: having a second white swatch in the file may lead to confusion down…

Indesign 2022 (17.1.0.50) IDLK file does not lock
This problem was recently flagged as resolved, but despite the newest InDesign and MacOS versions it is still possible for two users to open the same Indesign file. We are working on a network volume over SMB and it is possible for my colleague to open the same file I am working with. The *.idlk file was generated by the first user, but it is not recognized by the second Indesign user and sometimes subsequently just disappears.
I also tried to reproduce this issue with Indesign 2020 but all worked just as expected.

Selection extends in wrong direction - all other thext editors are doing well, except InDesign
There is a very annoying behavior in InDesign - when using the Shift+Arrow keys to extend the selection, the selection grows in a wrong direction.
To reproduce:
1. Click and drag the text cursor to select text.
2. Shift + Arrow left to make the selection smaller.
Bug: the selection starts to grow/shrink AT THE BEGINNING OF SELECTION, not at the end of the selection.
Why is this a problem?
When selecting text, the cursor must be left where the mouse button is released. If selecting from left to right, the cursor must be left at the end of the…1 vote -
Font distortion in SVG files imported from Illustrator
InDesign version 18.1 has a bug when importing svg images made in Illustrator; the fonts used in the svg files are distorted.
When I had exported the svg files in Illustrator, I chose "save as" and SVG Options: Subsetting > "All Glyphs" to make sure the fonts remained accurate when placed in InDesign, and this has always worked until version 18.1. When I went back to version 18 and opened the file, the fonts were back to normal.1 vote -
High CPU usage
High CPU usage on Win 10 (Asus NB) since version 17. Still remains (after many updates, 17.3 included). Not usable software.
So I'm using version 16, and there is no problem with CPU.

Page(s) in InDesign moving back and forth; Pasteboard not accessible
InDesign 2023 v 18.0 Page(s) in a document will move back and forth, especially after CTRL Zero short cut key stroke is used. The movement is constant and doesn’t stop without changing the zoom percentage each time.
In addition, InDesign is not allowing me to view work on something on the pasteboard. It moves the document back over and I can’t access the elements I was working on, on the pasteboard. I can change the View to “Entire Pasteboard”, but if I zoom in too far InDesign does the same thing… moves the document back over and I can’t access…2 votes -
text lag is severe in 17.3 compared to slight lag in 17.2
Mac OS 12.5, Indesign 17.3
anything that makes text reflow: Text edits, style changes, text wrap around an object lag severely in 17.3. The more text the longer the lag. Can be multiple seconds on a single page doc up to just crashing on an edit to a 50+ page doc when reflowing text.
I have reverted to 17.2 their is still a little lag but only a second or 2.
The forum interfacer won't let me upload indesign format files so I cannot provide test files. Email me if you need them.

Paragraph values not appearing – SOLUTION
Paragraph values not showing in panel when text is selected.
SOLUTION I use is to hide options then show options which resets panel, rather than quit and restart InDesign or reboot Mac.

Crash on Importing Large Word File
InDesign v17.4
macOS 12.6 Monterey
Mac Studio (2022)InDesign is crashing on importing a large (859-page) Word .docx file. The document begins to import for a couple of seconds but then InDesign crashes and there is a 'may be damaged' warning on reopening the file.
Attempts were made to import into a completely new document and multiple variations of import settings have been tried, as has resaving, duplicating and deleting comments and saving the Word file. Smart Text Reflow has also been turned off but this hasn't helped.

Persistent graphics issues
There are STILL graphics problems in Indesign 17.2. Things disappearing off the screen that don't reappear unless you try and move them (zooming in and out doesn't work), streaks appearing across the screen.
I am so bored of the constant bugs in this app.

InDesign '23 interface is not dual-monitor friendly! I am running macOS Monterey 12.4 on a MacBook M1 Pro.
Please update Adobe InDesign to be a more self-contained, movable workspace instead of anchoring the app to a single monitor (namely, my small laptop monitor). I am able to move tool windows and a file window over to my larger screen, but everything opens back on my laptop screen and I have to adjust all over again, unlike with Illustrator or Photoshop. It also maintains a dark gray 'background' over my laptop screen so it's VERY difficult to multitask. I noticed that this became an issue with a recent update PRIOR to the release of InDesign 2023. I am running…
