2. Export to Flat psd --- not flat

   Export As..., option 'Flat image' does not result in an actual flat image. the result is a layer in Photoshop, instead of a Background / flat image.
   Why is this important? Because in InDesign, only really flat grayscales can be given a color. Unfortunately, the result of the Ai export has to be flattened in Photoshop before it can be used to color it in InDesign.

3. AI Generated Alt Text Overriding Manual Alt Text

   I have Generative AI disabled on my Mac and had manually entered alt-text on 2 images. Another user in my organisation, who had not disabled it, made some minor text amends on my file and my atl-text was overwritten.

   I feel that any image that already has alt-text manually added should not be altered by this feature.

   Also it would be good that when the feature is turned on it could have an option to only affect images added to the Articles Panel as that is the most common way of setting the tag order.

4. Cropped content inside frames becomes visible on older mobile PDF viewers.

   I found a rendering issue in InDesign 2021 (and potentially newer versions). When an image or PDF is placed inside a frame (cropped), the content outside the frame boundaries is still being rendered on older mobile devices' PDF viewers.

   Steps to reproduce:

   • Place a large PDF/Image inside a smaller InDesign frame.
   • Export as a standard PDF (Interactive or Print - High Quality).
   • View the PDF on an older smartphone (e.g., older Android/iOS built-in viewers).
   • The "hidden" parts outside the frame are visible.

   The content outside the frame should be completely clipped or removed from the render stream to ensure privacy and visual consistency across all devices.

   Exporting as PDF/X-1a:2001 solves the issue because it flattens the transparency/layers.

5. Can't edit page elements when updated from 2024 to 2026 versions of inDesign

   My book that is roughly 200+ pages was created in 2023 and was editable in all versions until I got to 2026. My computer's processing power is not in question, but I can no longer edit elements that were created on previous versions. If I make new pics, text blocks, or anything, those are editable, but nothing else. If I try and revert the file, it warns me that I may LOSE my material if trying to go back.. This is unacceptable. In ever instance I don't want to open the file in the newest version and each time it is updated on my computer "Stealthily" and pushes through the conversion.

   Maybe I'm missing something, is there a setting I need to have ON or OFF in order to edit all aspects of a page?

   If it's not this, then you have a bug that needs to be addressed.

   pic below, you notice the edit border on the text to the left; if I click on the right page text options, nothing happens, it can't be manipulated, selected or changed in any way.

6. InDesign refuses to run if it can't verify our license ONE TIME, wasting a full day of work.

   First off, you're missing a bug category: LICENSING

   Now the real defect: InDesign refuses to launch if it can't contact the license server ONCE. So... if you're on a long-distance flight and have a bunch of work to do, YOU CAN'T. There is no excuse for this. Any competent software will run temporarily in that instance.

   Furthermore, we have a fully-paid license. There is no reason for the software to check its license any more frequently than the billing cycle. At every check, the server should report to the software what the end of the currently-paid period is and the software will run without connection until then. And even then, the software should function for AT LEAST A DAY if it is offline.

   This should NEVER happen to a paying customer.

7. shift + arrow not working

   Adobe Indesign version 21.3 x64
   Suddenly my shift + arrow movement is not working. the normal arrow movement is still working but I want to increase the increment without going into the settings because I use both the small single pixel movement and the larger one I used to get out o the shift key. Please help

8. Keep setting of PDF export when cancalling the export

   Please make InDesign remember file name and other settings when user interrupts process of exporting PDF.

   Typical scenario: you start exporting PDF, you select the right folder, file name. InDesign the displays warning, some files are missing. So I cancel the export, fix the links. Unfortunately the time I spend looking for right folder, setting the right file name is not respected, I have to start the whole process again. It is annoying if you have a complex structure of folders located on a server share.

10. InDesign fails to open .indd files from Finder when full path is long on APFS external drive

    Environment:
    - macOS: 26.4.1
    - InDesign version: 21.3
    - Drive format: APFS external SSD
    - File location: /Volumes/nollueP41/작업드라이브/01프로젝트별/국립환경인재개발원/01_폐기물처리 및 자원순환의 이해 2기/작업/폐기물처리 및 자원순환의 이해 2기.indd

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Place an .indd file in a deep folder path on an APFS external drive.
    2. Double-click the .indd file in Finder.
    3. InDesign launches or becomes active, but shows the error:
    “Missing required parameter 'from' for method 'open'.”
    4. Move the same file to the root level or a shorter path on the same external drive.
    5. Double-click again.

    Expected result:
    The .indd file should open normally from Finder regardless of full path length, as long as the path is valid in macOS.

    Actual result:
    The file fails to open from Finder when the full path is long. The same file opens normally via File > Open inside InDesign, and also opens when dragged into the InDesign window. Other file types such as PDF open normally from the same folder path.

    Additional notes:
    This appears to be an InDesign-specific issue handling long full paths passed from Finder, not a macOS file system issue.

11. Tables and text randomly disappear in Adobe InDesign document

    While working in Adobe InDesign, tables and text frames intermittently disappear from the document, even though their frames and guides are still visible. As shown in the attached image, content that should be displayed (tables and text) is no longer visible on the page layout.

    This issue occurs during normal editing and navigation of the document and does not appear to be related to hidden layers or visibility settings. The problem affects document review and editing, making it difficult to verify content accuracy.

12. ePub synthetic spread export not including xml / html language tags

    1. Version 21.0

    2. When exporting a Fixed Layout EPUB with the <Enable Synthetic Spreads> option, the language tags are not exporting in the HTML, which is an issue for accessibility. The language tags ARE exported properly when the <Convert Spread to Landscape Page> option is chosen, so this clearly seems to be a glitch with this particular export option.

    3. I would expect the following code to be at the top of each of the HTML files <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops">, and this at the top of the OPF file: <package xmlns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/opf" version="3.0" unique-identifier="bookid" prefix="ibooks: http://vocabulary.itunes.apple.com/rdf/ibooks/vocabulary-extensions-1.0/" xml:lang="en">

    4. However, the exported files have the following code, which misses the xml language tags:

    This is causing a LOT of manual work for my team and turning into a big time suck. It seems like something that could be a relatively easy fix on the development side... so we'd REALLY appreciate you prioritizing it! Especially with the recent EAA guidelines for ePub accessibility, this is a critical aspect of the ePub export.

15. Colour swatch in Effects panel previews as RGB instead of CMYK

    My working document is CMYK. When I open my Effects panel to change a swatch colour in the Blending section, it previews the colour as RGB, not CMYK. When you click on the swatch to bring up the Effect Colour panel, the swatch shows as the CMYK breakdown. The initial Blending option panel is incorrectly previewing as RGB and the swatches do not correlate. This occurs on all colours and all FX.

16. palettes stay closed

    Our entire department recently did the newest update to Adobe InDesign (21.0)
    Steps to reproduce the issues: Close document and open another one

    Every single time I open a new file (which is many times per day) the pallets do not pop open. The workspace still looks like it should and when I click on a pallet to use it, it highlights like it would if it was popped open for use but nothing happens.

    Expected result: Pallets pop open so I can make changes on my file
    Actual result: Pallets highlight like they will open but actually stay closed and do nothing

    The only way I have found to make this work is to reset the workspace (whether it's one you have saved as your own or just using a default). EVERY. SINGLE. TIMEEE PLEASE FIX THIS

17. Split Screen and Multi Window Screen Redraw Issues (diagonal slash)

    I have the same error occurring on two machines (different Adobe accounts) - both fresh (a month old) installations of InDesign 2026 (V21.3)

    Whenever viewing in Multi-Window (two documents side by side) or Split Screen (same document with two viewports side by side). Making minor edits often causes the top portion of one window or the other to go blank diagonally across the screen(see images). It gets filled in either white or the pasteboard color.

    Scrolling up/down will correctly redraw content that comes into view, but whatever was already in the frame buffer stays and the blank area just scrolls up/down until you completely scroll to all new content.

    This seems to happen whether either window is in "NORMAL" or "PREVIEW" mode and often when switching focus between windows, typically in the window losing focus. If the window receiving focus already has the blank diagonal area it briefly shows the full page then the diagonal comes back. In some cases both windows can have the diagonal slash across them.

    Please remove whatever moronic new AI tool got shoved into the software and broke this basic function that has worked fine for 20 years - I have actual work I need to do!

18. eyedropper tool no longer copies text formatting

    The eyedropper tool no longer copies text formatting from a selected source and applying to new text. At best, it changes the color, but not the typeface, weight, character attributes. When highlighting the source text, the eyedropper properly changes to loaded with the "T" - but still doesn't apply the text formatting correctly.

    No character or paragraph styles have been applied.
    Eyedropper settings are set correctly to copy the formatting.

    Problem persists despite resetting Indesign preferences, rebooting, manually deleting indesign preferences, rebooting, updating to latest version, rebooting.

    Very annoying bug that clearly slows down work.

19. Use Typographers Quotes preference keeps being deselected

    I’m using InDesign 21.1. This isn’t a new bug – it has been around for a while. I often discover that the Use Typographers Quotes is deselected, and I never deslect it. I don’t believe there’s a keyboard command that I inadvertently press that does it, so I have no idea why this happens.

    Has anyone else encountered it? A minor irritant, but I finally got around to reporting it. Thanks!

20. unexpected window scaling

    InDesign prerelease 21.1 on MacOs 15.6.1 MacBookPro 16” M2pro (with connected 4K screen, or not).
    After lanching InDesign and opening a file, this one fits to full internal screen. If you open a second doc on the same window in a new tab, it resizes the window to full internal screen (even if you resized it to a less size) but window is a little higher. If you move the window to the external 4K screen and open a new doc, there is no bug : the window don't resize.
