  2. Tabs in Arabic text move weight declaration to the wrong place

    When placing an Arabic weight statement (e.g. "13g") followed by a tab and a percentage (e.g. "19%"), the weight declaration ("g" or "mg") moves to the percentage when exporting to pdf. Only when setting PDFX/1a:2001 is selected the output is correct. But this setting removes all layers and flattens transparencies so it's not very useful.
    A workaround is to place a space after the tab (so on the left side since this is a right to left language).

  3. Indesign will start but will not create a new doc or open a previous one.

    I am using MacOS 10.13.6 High Sierra and Indesign CC 2018. The program has been working great but suddenly, beginning last night, InDesign will start up but when I go to create a new document nothing happens. I tried to open a document I had made the day before and it would no open either. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, trashed my preferences, but still not working. I get no warnings or spinning color wheels. What is going on?

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

    If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

  4. InDesign crashes when highlighting open Acrobat comment text

    This is a wild one that has happened multiple times now. InDesign will crash on my machine in the following specific circumstance:
    1) I have a text box selected in a file that I want to copy text into,
    2) I navigate to an ultimately unconnected PDF in Acrobat that has text I want to copy from,
    3) the PDF has an open comment box with currently highlighted text,
    4) I try to highlight other text within the comment box in order to copy that instead,
    5) and InDesign crashes hard (closes completely).

  6. Copying data from Excel table into InDesign table. Data goes into one cell, rather than all.

    When pasting Excel table into InDesign table, all cells go into 1st cell as a complete table, rather than populating the table.

  7. Cell styles are not selected in the panel when applied through a Table style

    InDesign CC 2018
    Set up a table style and apply it to a table.
    In the Table style, define a Cell style to be used.
    In the CELL style, define a Paragraph style to be used. In the same Cell style also set a Text inset (to be sure you see that the cell style is in effect).

    Now put the text cursor inside a table cell, and notice how the currect Table style is selected in the Table styles panel, and also the correct paragraph Style in the Paragraph Panel.

  8. Image Links

    After an image is placed in a document (first selected as "Place" in Bridge") the image is then selected, using the label "Select" in Bridge. In the InDesign document the link will become brokenand needs to be relinked. If the marking of the image in Bridge is not done then the linking problem doesn't not occur.

  9. new version switches back to older version

    I use InDesign for our school newsletter. I'm having issues with it switching from 2017 version to 2018 on any given day. This could be a department issue or could it be the program. Very frustrated with it at the moment. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

  10. Page palette

    My page palette shows both the master-pages and the document pages outside the palette margins in vertical view. I can sort of work around it when selecting horizontal view but it is messy and still cuts of some of the pages on the outside.
    Restoring the preferences when opening Indesign fixes this bug but it's annoying. Is there a permanent solution for this?

  11. Custom story editor text color to does not change picture box icon color rendering invisible on black background

    When changing the Story Editor Display text color to something other than black, the picture box icon color does not change to match. If the background is set to black (such as with the "Terminal" theme), picture boxes are no longer visible in the story editor. Only can be seen when highlighting the text.

    Would like the picture box color to match the text color when using story editor.

  12. New Document Thumbnails

    I don't see the added value of the 'Thumbnails' in the New Document panel.
    Those are rather confusing than functional, since all have the same aspect ratio.
    Won't it be nice when the default icon reflects the actual orientation and aspect ratio?

  13. Adobe InDesign 14 always launches on a wrong monitor out of two.

    All good with Photoshop, Illustrator, etc, but Indesign keeps opening every time on a wrong monitor no matter what. Plus, even when you drag it to another display, all the dialog boxes keep appearing on a different monitor. Moreover, it resets your workspace to Essentials every time and it take you some time to set it up again after start. Annoying and counterproductive

  14. Export defaults are not sticky anymore after update

    When you hit Ctrl+E it used to use the last [pdf] export profile that had been used, but now it's always 'Adobe (Interactive) PDF' now. Might sound like a minor issue, but when you have to go through lots of pages one by one it just a massive waste of time going each time through File-Adobe PDF Presets-Needed One (using mouse).

    Can't see where it can be backed? Any suggestions?

    p.s. Thought it could be resolved through Keyboard shortcut, but apparently you can't make it for a specific preset, and Ctrl+E [as mentioned] is not "sticky" anymore

  15. Landing page form doesn't work when accessed by Publish Online link

    But, the form does work when accessed by ePub and PDF.

    I suspect this issue is with the landing page, which my client had another contractor create, and the page is unsecure, FWIW.

    But, it just seems odd, that the form works (accepts and sends user info) coming from ePub and PDF, but does not when coming from the Publish Online link on browsers Firefox and Chrome. Safari does work.

    Any ideas?

  16. Won't open some .indd files

    CC 2019 14.0.1
    Some .indd files will not open. They've opened previously, and SOME very similar files will still open. When I doulble-click or open from the ID app, nothing happens. No errors. Just nothing. Tried copying files to desktop or duplicating/re-naming with no luck. Tried copying and changing extension to .idml, still no luck. Rebooted my machine, same. Deleted preferences, same. Uninstalled and re-intalled the app, same.

  17. Unable to type the í character

    When typing, inDesign doesn't receive the í character. On the Hungarian keyboard the í can be entered as AltGr+J. When typing the text, and pressing AltGr+J, sometimes the í doesn't appears, but the Paragraph options dialog pops up. Pressing one more time the AltGr+J types the í. This is a problem in the newer versions, in the CS6 version this wasn't a problem.

  18. Object distribution disapeared from Advanced Settings

    Even object distribution has been removed from the Advanced layout and can only be seen in Essentials or Essentials Classic. I updated InDesign 2019 on 02/02/2019 and this issue suddenly appeared.

  19. Cannot delete blue/teal guides

    Have no problem creating guides but cannot get rid of them once they are in place. I've tried every suggestion I could find on the internet in addition to restarting my computer, updating the software, etc etc etc and nothing will work.

  20. Page-jump dialog disappears, leaving ID non-interactive

    On three occasions since installing CC 2019, I've:

    • selected [command+j] to jump to a page

    • had the page-jump dialog appear, grab focus, and then immediately disappear

    • this has left InDesign in a non-interactive state, where I have to force-quit.
