  1. You are able to open, already opened documents

    Indesign 2020
    At the office we work as a team on the same documents. It is important that only one person at a time can work on a document. With the new 2020-version, you are able to open the same document on two computers... with a big risk to save over/erase, the changes that the your college has done.

  2. Import PDF Comments - New Bugs identified - Part 3

    We're also facing below issues in the new feature, called 'Import PDF Comments':

    (1) [CRITICAL ERROR] When any insertion is happening at the end of paragraph, InDesign is swapping the last character after the new insertion

    (2) When any PDF comments appeared within the tinted panel, it's not replacing properly

    Please let me know for any clarifications on the above given feedback.

  3. Export stops at 0%

    Exporting common documents often results in a "crash" at 0%. No error comes up, it just stays at 0% indefinitely.

    If I try stop the export I can't, if I try close InDesign I can't. I have to force quit the program and open it numerous times following in order to get all of my fonts back and registered... even if it's in a package.

    Extremely time consuming and painful.

    Hi,

    We tried with some custom InDesign files, but export works fine

  4. Space character inserted following ligature replacement

    Hello,
    InDesign v14.0.2 inserts an (inaccessible) space character immediately following a substitution performed by the OpenType "Ligatures" feature. This does not occur in Illustrator, Photoshop, nor any other text layout app I'm using.

  5. InD responding slowly

    This isn't a "bug" per se, but InD has slowed to a crawl when using. Doesn't matter if I am trying to select text, change tools, or click on a menu item. It's been going very slow for a while now, doesn't matter the file. I have tried to trash preferences and reinstall InD, and nothing has changed it. Oh, and I just have major lag, not a spinning ball.

    I am Win10, InD CC 14.0.2. The only plug-in I am running is Suitcase Fusion, and that is up to date as well.

  7. Background Tasks stuck on "Cancelling"

    I was exporting multiple PDFs that were not exporting properly. When I figured out they were stuck, I manually cancelled the export in "Background Tasks". Both tasks have been "Cancelling" for two days. I cannot close the files nor can I close InDesign.

  8. InDesign to InCopy Layout Malfunction

    My company's graphics department develops scientific posters, and as a writer, I often have to make small adjustments to the text and am only given access to edit through InCopy (using version 14.0.2). This problem does not happen with every poster, but I often find that the whole frame of the poster is shifted when I open the assignments file in InCopy (please see example photos). I'm able to make my edits, but I can't export to a PDF without having the bleed, header, etc. shifted as I see it in InCopy. Our graphics department thinks this is a bug…

  9. Workspace panels not reappearing when exiting and reentering application

    I've noticed lately that my workspace panels are sporadically disappearing when I have a document open and I click out of the document on macOS Mojave and reenter the document shortly after. If I click 'tab', the workspace doesn't reappear. The only way to make it come back is to go to Window/Workspace/Reset [Name for workspace]. Application frame is disabled.

    Currently on macOS 10.14.6
    InDesign CC 2019 14.0.2

  10. Performance: Import documents / style apply

    my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) is super slow when importing word documents, search and replace styles or adapting styles. Does it improve when changing to the Mojave system? Or is there a conflict with FontExplorer X Pro. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm suffering…

    1) Please let us know the version of InDesign on which you are facing this issue.
    2) It would really help us a lot, if you can share the documents( and other resources) with which you are facing the issue.
    3) Can you please share a small video demonstrating all the issues that you are experiencing.

  12. ID can't import multiple PDF (with multiple pages) into frames placed in master

    InDesign 14.0.2 french
    Windows 10 x64 Pro 1903 - 18362.239

    I need to import 148 PDF with 5 pages into each files.
    I prepare 5 frames into the A-master.
    CTRL+D from the 1st page to select my files.
    For the demo, I use 3 files.

    Only the second PDF is imported.
    All other PDF are visible in Links panel, but with no pages imported.

    If I do an the same import without frames on the A-master, I am able to place 5 pages per ID page. But it's longer, without the same scale, etc.

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!

    Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.

    For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.

    In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

  15. Paragraph Style won't override

    1. InDesign 2020 (15.0)

    NOTE: I'm a designer with 22 years experience. I know part of this is 'sloppy' formatting on my part. But since switching to InDesign from QuarkXPress 15 years ago, I've never encountered this 'bug' before.

    1. I have a document with multiple 'old' Paragraph Styles. It's a multiple page document. A number of paragraphs have a style applied, but I've overridden them with other formatting.

    The easy but lengthy fix would be to fix the Paragraph Style, but I was on a tight deadline.

  16. custom workspace save overwrites all

    Running ID 15.0 on Mac OS 10.13.6

    I have multiple custom workspaces depending on if I am working at home, the office or remotely.

    Any time I save a workspace, regardless of if it is a new workspace or overwriting an old one, it changes all of my workspaces to the most recent saved version.

    Effectively, I only have one custom workspace now. Any suggestions?

  17. Export as InDesignMarkup (IDML) ignores the color profile

    When exporting an indd-file as an IDML-file we've experienced a problem. In the original file there's an embeded a specific color profile (ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)).
    If we check the exported idml file we found out that InDesign ignores the specific color profile and resets the profile to it's standard profile (U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)) - which is not the desired profile and not suitable for our european print environment.

    That was the reason of some color problems with some printing stores or agencys we're working with in the past.

  18. InDesign crashes on launch in "PlugPlugOwl.dll"

    InDesign 2019 doesn't open after the first loading box on startup. I downloaded 2018, 2017 and 2015. 2015 is the only one that works at the moment but the others have the same issue.
    My computers processor is Intel Pentium 1.5 GHz
    I've attached the crash report.

    Closing this thread.

    The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
    Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

  19. delete button doesn't work

    Sometimes the delete button on keyboard just quits working for no reason. When I close ID and reopen it with the file again, the delete button is working OK again.

  20. error encountered reading image

    1. InDesign CC 2019 (14.0)
    2. Import large clipped .psd file (~880 mb) into mechanical
    3. Image placed as requested
    4. Error message received suggesting image is corrupt (note: export of InDesign file as idml and opened in 2018 to import image achieves desired result, suggesting image is not corrupt)
