Selecting all and then deselecting some text in one go
I have been using InDesign since forever. Since the very first versions. But something has changed in the update to version 15.0.3.
When I select text, I often want to select an entire paragraph, except for the hidden character "paragraph return". I do that by holding Shift+Command+Arrow Down. That selects the entire paragraph including the hidden character. Then I would normally just let go of the command button and still hold Shift and then push the Arrow left button. That way I had selected the entire paragraph without the hidden character.
But in the latest update, 15.0.3 I now suddenly…1 voteHi,

Save functions unavailable
I'm using a Mac and running Catalina, have ID 2020. Yesterday, an existing file of 33 pages stopped allowing me to save it. I had no idea it wasn't saving and lost hours worth of work by the time I realized what was happening. I tried starting a new document and pasting the text into it, but same problem. I started a new document again and it allowed me to save immediately, but the second I dropped in text (different text this time), I lost the ability to save the file. I can export to PDF or IDML, but cannot…

PDF Export in InDesign CC 2020 (15.0) is broken
As soon as I try to export a PDF (either with File > Export or File > Adobe PDF Presets), the background task starts but hangs at 32% and never completes. When cancelling the task, it never cancels and I need to Force Quit InDesign to cancel it.
Running Catalina with the latest version of InDesign (15.0)

file will not export to pdf
Some Indesign files will not export to pdf while other Indesign 2020 files export fine. An alert shows but there is no detail in the alert. There does not seem to be any difference between the files that export and those that don't. Indesign 2020 does not accept file names that are too long.

overprint function works wrong! > Illustrator & Indesign
As Indesign & Illustrator unfortunately is doing right now:
If the overprinted area contains a smaller amount of the same base colour (c/m/y/k) than the overprinted area, the overprint function mutates into a kind of cut-out function:
in which case Adobe replaces the area of the cutoff area with the lower color value of the area to be overprinted.Example 1
Area below to be overprinted (cmyk): 20/0/100/0
Area at the top that is to overprint (cmyk): 40/0/0/0
A.) Current result cut surface: 40/0/100/0 (okay)
B.) Correct result cut surface: 40/0/100/0
or C.) alternative result* cut surface: 60/0/100/0

Hard returns only (soft returns converted)16 votesHi,
Thanks for your patience all this while. We investigated on this issue and below are our findings. The problem with this bug is related to ages old standards difference between different operating systems.
On Mac (OS X and later) there is only one way to identify line end i.e by using a single character LF, while on Windows (and DOS before it) uses a pair of CR and LF characters to terminate lines.
Hence when writing them down to any text file these characters are written as such.
Windows, can therefore dedicate LF to understand soft return separately while Mac cannot do any
such thing. Because of this when we read it back from the text file the LF character is interpreted as line break (or new para) on Mac and soft return on Windows. These files require conversion when moved from one OS to another

Alt text not appearing for images across spreads
in ID 2020, image across double-page spreads will generate an alt-text error when exported to accessible PDF. This problem goes away when saved as IDML and opened in ID 2019.

Major performance issues in 15.0.2 with multiple large documents open
I'm on a Windows laptop with a Core i7, 16 gb of ram and a dedicated GPU. Up until the 15.0.2 update there was some hitching and slowdown with these large files (and I noticed a weird bug where hitting T to use the Type tool doesn't actually change the tool) but now editing text can take up to 10 minutes with more than one file open. I can't make a screencast at the moment since I had to reinstall 15.0.1 to complete the project on time but the filesize we're talking about is 50-75mb, ~60 pages or so with…

Crash: "Keep Lines Together" (All) and disabled "Allow Split Footnotes" crashes InDesign if there are footnotes in a table
100% reproducible on InDesign 15.0.2 on Windows 10.
Sample document for easy reproduction: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iirawdsvd27l95l/indesign%20crash.indd?dl=1Starting point:
1. I have a table containing some footnotes.
2. Footnotes are not allowed to be split.
3. The table (including footnotes) doesn't fit in the frame, so the last row jumps to the next frame. To crash InDesign:
1. Place the text marker in the paragraph containing the table.
2. Go to Keep Options.
3. Check "Keep Lines Togheter" and "All Lines in Paragraph".Result: InDesign immediately hangs and you have to force quit.
Please fix? Should be easy to track down the internal…

Typing a key to quickly find an image when importing doesn't work
When importing an image and the Place dialog window appears, I type a letter to quickly get to the image I want to import, instead of scrolling down or moving the mouse and clicking.
This works about 50% of the time. It's as though there's some kind of timeout whereby if you import too many images in a row (one by one, not multiples at once), it won't recognise a keystroke. So, many times it simply won't work and I have to click the filename with the mouse to highlight it. This also happens in Illustrator..

None of my windows float in when I open Indesign version 15.1.1
The app is running, but none of my windows float in when I open my file.
I can't access any of my tools, pages, or layers... This is the only thing I'm able to see which is only my document. But I can't work without the tools! How can I fix this issue? I already tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and re-installing Indesign 15.1.1 and nothing has worked.1 vote -
Where has Package gone?
Shift Option Command P was not working, so I went to File: Package, and it's gone. I have restarted InDesign, restarted my computer, as well as tossed my preferences. I am using InDesign 15.1.1 on OS 10.14.6. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No visable PDF comments in PDF Comments Window
ID 15.1.1, Win10
31.8.2020 The problem exist also in New-File Window: only the black window, one can see in the attachment
After importing the comments from a PDF file there is nothing in the PDF Comments Window. Although the comments are visable in main text, I cannot accept them in PDF comments windows, because I don't see them there.
I have the same problem with the main InDesign window: when no file is opened, I see only black flat, no icons of previously opened files, as it was in previous versions...

Indesign crashes after copying text
Indesign crashes immediately after copying text. It seems that this only happens with formatted text. If I separate the text box from the paragraph format, I can copy the text. But that is very time consuming and annoying. When I open Indesign again, it crashes immediately. And when I finally managed to open the file again and click on "Paragraph format" in the sidebar, Indesign freezes. The bug has occurred since the last 2-3 versions of Indesign and I hope that the bug will be fixed with every new one. Unfortunately, this did not happen.

MacOS: 10.15.33 votesTo identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.
